RBK&C Volunteers Bureau. Quite a while back, I heard through the grapevine, that the local council has plans to renovate the length of Thorpe Close. They have already started with the new coffee shop on the corner where CAB was for years. The area wants a Sloane Square, Chelsea-look for the future. Even Pepperpot under threat of closure.

About Westway Trust

Westway Trust: Empowering North Kensington to Thrive

Westway Trust is a non-profit organization that works in partnership with the local community to enable North Kensington to thrive. The trust manages 23 acres of land underneath the Westway flyover in North Kensington, London, for the benefit of the community.

The trust was established in 1971 as part of a regeneration project aimed at transforming an area that had been devastated by urban decay and social unrest. Today, Westway Trust continues to play a vital role in supporting and empowering local residents through its diverse range of programs and initiatives.

One of the key objectives of Westway Trust is to provide affordable spaces for local businesses, artists, and community groups. The trust manages several properties along Portobello Road, Golborne Road, Acklam Village Market, and other locations within its estate. These spaces are available for rent at affordable rates and are designed to support small businesses and creative enterprises.

In addition to providing affordable spaces for local businesses, Westway Trust also runs several programs aimed at promoting entrepreneurship among young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. The trust's Enterprise Programme provides training and mentoring support for aspiring entrepreneurs aged between 16-30 years old who live or work within the boroughs surrounding its estate.

Another important aspect of Westway Trust's work is its commitment to promoting health and wellbeing among local residents. The trust runs several sports facilities including a climbing wall, football pitches, basketball courts as well as fitness classes such as yoga sessions which are open to all members of the public.

Westway Trust also plays an active role in preserving North Kensington's cultural heritage through various arts initiatives such as exhibitions showcasing emerging artists from diverse backgrounds or hosting events celebrating Black History Month or International Women's Day.

The trust has also been instrumental in supporting environmental sustainability efforts within its estate by implementing green infrastructure projects such as installing solar panels on some buildings or creating green roofs on others which help reduce carbon emissions while improving air quality around them.

Overall, Westway Trust has become an integral part of North Kensington's social fabric over the past few decades by providing essential services that have helped transform this once-neglected area into a vibrant hub where people can live healthy lives while pursuing their dreams. Its commitment towards empowering communities through innovative solutions makes it stand out amongst other organizations working towards similar goals.

In conclusion,

Westway Trust is more than just another non-profit organization; it’s an institution dedicated towards making positive changes happen within communities it serves. With over four decades worth experience under their belt coupled with innovative solutions like their Enterprise Programme or Green Infrastructure Projects - they continue pushing boundaries when it comes down helping those who need assistance most!
