My cat was sick and dying. They were so kind. Took good care of her and she survived. The charges were less than I expected and my cat is doing well now. My other cat lived for 17 years and when it was her time to go the staff was supportive and gentle with her and with me. I would recommend anyone in need of help for their pet to come here. Front office friendly and helpful. Medical staff knowledgeable and so very kind.

I don't agree with these bad reviews. I ran into West Vet in tears and complete panic because my two dogs got into a random fight while I was at work and were both very injured. The doctor came out right away and helped me hold the leashes and took my one dog that was in pretty bad shape to the back. I did need to sign a paper authorizing emergency action if needed, which is the paper people are talking about saying the potential for the $150-$300 or $500 charge. If course I signed! My dogs are my babies! The gals at reception were very sweet and understanding of my panic. They took me and my other dog to a room while we waited for the doctor. The doctor and another person were upfront about cost and explained everything they needed to do for my dogs. They got down on the ground with my dogs and showed they cared. My babies were there all day. I received multiple calls updating me of there status. Every person there was nice and sweet the whole time and they went over all the instruction and answered all questions at the discharge of my girls. Yes, it was expensive but it was necessary and absolutely worth it. I don't know what I would have done if we didn't have a 24 hr ER close by. Thank you to our fabulous doctor and the great staff at West Vet!!! Roxy and Marley are happily at home and receiving lots of love today after a rough night.

Our cat was very sick, throwing up, not eatting or drinking, not going to the restroom and would hide away. Hes 6 months and is typically very social and hungry. We took him in to WestVet because they were close by and open at 8:30 PM. We arrived and they got us in a room quickly. He had his vitals checked and said the doctor would be in after she was done with the 3 other people infront of us. We sat in the room for about an hour till the doctor came in and talked to us shortly. He ended up having Xrays done and that took about 45 minutes with no updates. The doctor explained what they thought the problem was but didnt offer anything to really help with the problem. Only a shot for nausea and masking the sickness for 24 hours. He was having some severe bowel problems and couldnt relieve himself. The next day we went to Ada Vet and they explained the problem a bit more and gave him some medications there to help make him go and tested it for parasites. Obviously we knew that the emergency vet would be expensive and that was fine if we would have gotten more answers. Ada vet was 3 times cheaper and they helped him relieve himself and feel much better. For the price we paid at WestVet i know it wasnt worth it. The best thing about this place was the friendliness of all of the staff. But between not getting direct answers, the incredible 4 hour wait time from start to finish and just hiding our kittens pain amd sickness for a day, it was worth it.

If you care for your animals DO NOT bring them here! They are less caring than a bad mechanic on a junk vehicle and thats how they treated our dog and us.

After driving almost 5 hours to bring our dog from sun valley animal center to this place because our dog was hit by a truck and had chest trauma. He Needed fluid drained from his lungs every hour and they got him hooked up to everything and we were told they needed $4,000 up front at 2am or no treatment. haha wow. Really nice and caring people here. Money hungry and careless. Offered $2,000 until we could get more in the morning and was told no. With no choice but to euthanize him. After being told his outcome looked good it is the most horrible thing to put that on someone. No ability to work with someone until they can get the money? At least start helping with the 2,000 and if the rest isn't paid then take action. Ruthless people here.

My dog was treated great. The expertise and caring exhibited by every member of the staff was amazing. Unfortunately our dog had to be euthanized. The staff was informative and showed tremendous empathy for both my dog and family.
Above average. I would recommend WestVet to anyone that needs immediate care for their pet
Thank you to everyone helping make a bad experience much better

I have never felt more ripped off. Westvet is one of the few vets open on weekends in the Boise area. Our dog is prone to ear infections and we wanted to get it treated before it got worse. I went in on a Saturday morning at 9am...empty waiting room. By 10am I was out and had a $250 bill! They charge $90+ just for the visit. Then they charged for the diagnosis of an ear infection, which we already knew. Then the medication was more expensive than any other vet we've been to. I love my pet dearly and will do whatever it takes to make sure he is well cared for...but I will never go to Westvet again.

We recently took our pup to west vet to visit with a specialist on something our regular vet wasn t able to figure out. I was so impressed with my conversation with Dr. Ochoa, and with the discharge notes she gave me. I was easily able to articulate the massive amount of info to my husband later on thanks to the detailed discharge notes. Looking forward to continuing to work with her!

Took my dog in for taking some vitamin supplements at poison controls recommendation, the vet didn t speak with poison control for over 2 hours and by that time nothing could be done for the ingestion. No communication and no updates, they need to figure this process, go somewhere else if you can.

Every time we got here we get a huge challenge for our pet to be seen by a vet. Called ahead today and was told to wait outside for vet because of corona, (understandable). What I wasn t told is that it was going to be a 4-5 hour wait. At least tell people before they drive all the way down with a sick dog. Also when our dog was a puppy he had Parvo and they wouldn t let us into the building unless we paid 1500 dollars upfront and our dog was on the brink of death. Our personal vet even called ahead and told them our dog was very sick and needed to be seen right away. Finally after an hour of sitting on the curb with our puppy almost dying they let us in. (Paid in full of course). They need to expand or change the way they see animals, lucky for us we were able to find another vets office that could see our dog today.

Last night we took our very elderly (12.5) year ol...
Last night we took our very elderly (12.5) year old lab to be seen as she suddenly lost the ability to use her front leg. She appeared to not be able to control it like maybe she had a stroke or something. Now let me be upfront, our old girl has multiple problems, including a badly arthritic back which makes it hard for her to get up on her back right leg. Upon arrival at Westvet, due to COVID restrictions we were unable to be with our girl, so they brought out a gurney to wheel her in. I kept having to repeat to the tech that we know she has problems with her back leg, but suddenly can t walk on or control her front leg on same side. This all started around 10pm. By midnight we still hadn t heard a word, yet watched several people come with their pets and leave a short time later with their pets. , Sp, I called to ask for a status update and was told they had had several critical cases come in so she hadn t been seen yet and would likely be another hour or 2, when I said how have so many others been seen and left I was told I could take her home and see my vet in the morning?! SERIOUSLY!
Finally around 2 am (4hrs of sitting in parking lot) I receive a call from vet reporting on her hind leg arthritis discomfort she was in.. When I asked about her front leg , she said she hadn t noticed her favoring it as she bolted when they let her out of crate after 4 hours. So they sent her home with advice of filming next episode and have neurological specialist see her.
When I got her home and lifter her from my car (80lbs) she had to potty so badly, no wonder she bolted from crate!
So long story short, I spent 4 hours sitting in a car paid for an ER visit for a consult on an OLD issue, with no evaluation of current problem. Communication is horrible! I understand COVID precautions, but please be sure to know why you are seeing a patient. And, update the owners sitting in your parking lot of status.
I understand COVID restrictions and prioritizing more critical cases, but make sure you know What you are seeing a patient for.

If your animal can last till morning wait it will save you money and time.

We had to take my cat here and were extremely happy with the service provided. Immediately after checking in, a tech came to make sure my cat didn't need immediate attention and then we were lead to their special Feline Waiting Room which was closed off so our cat could be more comfortable. Afterwards we were placed in a very spacious treatment room with windows on the doors so my cat didn't feel claustrophobic. Both the vet tech and the vet who assisted us were friendly and obviously extremely knowledgeable. Everyone made sure we were aware of the costs of different treatment options and answered all of our questions thoroughly. My cat was kept in the hospital overnight and I received phone calls from the vet with updates on her status and possible changes to her treatment plan. Overall, everyone who we talked to was absolutely amazing, the facilities were built with animal wellbeing in mind, and WestVet made a very scary time much easier to handle.

DO NOT GO HERE! I repeat do not go here!! They just do half ask surgerys, say it will help your dog but at the end they just want your money. I spent 1200 for a ear hematoma that I still have to take my dog to another vet to actually fix the problem.

I recently took my pup, Redd, into West Vet. He was in really really bad shape due to eating rat bait at my parent's farm. He was losing a lot of blood through his urine and completely lethargic, he literally looked like he could die any second. I didn't think the little fella was going to make it! When I got there the nurse, Lauren, checked him out and immediately got him in to see Dr. Yang. After waiting shortly for them to get his treatment started Dr. Yang met with me and my daughter to let us know what she could to do to try to get Redd healthy again. I was very concerned for Redd and expressed to Dr. Yang that I was also concerned about the cost as most of us know unexpected emergency vet bills can really cut into our budgets! Dr. Yang really listened to all my concerns and gave me a good understanding of care and cost for Redd and she instantly gained my trust! She also along with Dr. Brandt made sure to to keep me updated on Redd's condition and that we were inside of what their estimated cost would be for the 2 days he spent in their pet hospital. Redd's condition dramatically improved within the two days they had him and came home! He's currently taking the meds they prescribed and everything is looking good for the little guy so far! I could really sense the care the entire staff has for the pets in their care and the people that bring them in and really wanted to give these folks a big shout out for how they operate! Thank you Dr. Yang, Dr. Brant and all the staff at West Vet! Top notch!

West Vet is the best place to take your pet whether they are sick or healthy. Yes, I waited in the emergency room, just as I would in a regular hospital, but the kind staff continuously checked on us. The emergency room staff, the internal medicine staff and all my little Daisy s nurses treated her as if she were their own pet. I could call anytime during the night as I waited for results of her many tests. Sadly my 12 year old Daisy has a lymphoma. Through all my tears the staff at West Vet made me feel I was supported and they will continue to follow my girl for the months she has left. Thanks West Vet!

I would never take one of my pets here. There are other 24 hrs vets then this one and don't dig into your pocket book. They really take advantage of people. It's been a while but my dog needed some stiches from another dog shaking her that tore her skin lose, didn't effect the musal just outter skin. The nurse came out to give us a price, I was in shock what she said. It was 1500, but they couldn't be sure, it could run more. My husband and I just looked at each other in disbelief. But then this vet nurse told us that if it was about the money we could take her to the Humane society for stitches. My vet was closed, because it was a weekend, we ended up putting her down. Had everything faxed to my vet. He was in disbelief too. Told me that it should have cost only around 250. Like I said this was a few years ago, but I'll never forget it, and never use this vet.

I'm so grateful for the 24/7 service they offer. All the vets we called at 9 pm were closing up and couldn't get us in. They definitely got down to business and took my dog back and immediately started caring for her. With the covid-19 pandemic in full swing, I definitely think they were being safe and considering their staff and my family's safety. I wish they had communicated more with me while I waited in my car worrying that first few hours, unsure of her condition since we weren't able to go in with her. Wish they had reassured me more with the prognosis of my pet and the timeline of care but I definitely understand the risk of giving false information.
Pricey service but well worth the safety of my dog. They make to pay an anticipated minimal cost up front and then to clear them to charge up to an anticipated maximum cost. Our initial cost was about $1300 and the max cost was estimated around $2300. They ended up refunding some of even our minimum estimated costs though which was nice and we only ended up paying around $850. It was absolutely worth it for the peace of mind that my pup is going to be healthy.

We were extremely satisfied with the care West Vet gave our dog. She had to stay overnight for two nights in the hospital after 4-5 days of illness. They were thorough, upfront about billing, transparent, and informative. Though you will spend a lot of time waiting if you're utilizing after hours emergency care that is to be expected in an ER setting. It is totally worth it knowing that the team of Tech's and Vet's are going to provide such quality care to your animal. Their customer service was amazing and their follow ups put your mind at ease.

Not sure if it's a coincidence but everytime I bring a pet to WestVet, the cost estimates are always start out at the same price and after being asked how much I can afford to pay,, end up just a few dollars less than the amount I stated, no matter what type of medical issue is going on with each animal. Plus, because of covid, I'm not allowed to go in during the examination or for treatment. The last visit cost approximately $200 and the treatment did absolutely nothing to help my little guy.

Granted, the staff was friendly. Turns out, that is the only positive thing from the hospital.
I took my dog in through the E.R. after getting ran over. I understand the restrictions due to Covid-19, so we weren't allowed in the hospital, that's fine.
There is a major lack of communication, between departments, patients, and anyone else. As I was waiting outside, they ended walking up to me while is was in my truck and they stated they called, but yet no record of it on my phone. On top of that, they were trying to "sell" a surgery on my dog that she didn't need.
So basically, in the beginning, they stated my dog had all sorts of issues and highly recommended surgery. They couldn't give me a price and was recommending over night stay. The whole time they were not able to tell me how much anything was going to be. Just an estimate. On top of that, they were asking for payment upfront and full before proceeding. So I was easily getting frustrated because not only I was thinking I would have cough up at least $3,000.00, but I couldn't get an exact figure.
In the meantime, I know my dog was inside, scared. It wasn't till I demanded my dog in the very end and told them I will be taking her to a specialist the very next day, they were able to give my a solid price for what they did.
The next day at the specialist's office, he told me the exact opposite of what the hospital was telling me. He says it a good thing that she did not get surgery as it can do a lot more damage for years to come.
Even if I had no choice on where to take my pet for medical care, I will never bring them back to this hospital, ever.

I had a consult with Dr Sean Murphy yesterday to talk about some preventative surgery for my dog. I thought he was great! He seemed to really have the best interest of my dog in mind and even pulled up research to ensure his opinion matched what other professionals thought. The staff at West Vet is phenomenal! The doctors and tech's listened patiently to my concerns and never made me feel rushed despite it being a very busy Saturday night. Because of their attentiveness, they were able to quickly pinpoint what was going on with my dog, something her own primary vet had failed to do. I don't usually leave bad reviews, but I couldnt even get past a phone call to want to bring my cat here. I rescued a cat with with a number of health issues(fleas, ear mites, a dog attack wound, etc.) And was trying to explain my situation to get a quote on pricing. My friend rescued one of the kittens and it died from panleukopenia and had to pay a huge bill. The person i had talked to talked us in circles. End result they could not give us a quote on specific tests and treatment options, told us to go to the ASPCA as a cheapest option. I'm sure the doctors and staff are amaxing, i just could get that far.

Our dog has been experiencing sudden severe pain all week. We made 3 trips after hours in one week. Each time we were there we had extremely long wait times, like 3-4 hrs each, which tells me it's poor schedule planning on their part. Disorganized staff and conflicting opinions from several vets there about our dog. Each time we left we were frustrated. Who really suffers in this situation? The pet.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Terrible experience this evening putting down our 17 year old Carin Terrier . The on call vet made it very apparent that she was only after money for various unnecessary tests on an animal that was already in the process of passing. Terrible bedside manner & very transactional. I ve had to put down animals before and have never felt so uncomfortable by a vet. I brought my dog in with congestive heart failure, although I didn't know at the time that's what was wrong. They were compassionate, kind, and very clear about what was going on and allowing my family to spend time with our dog while they got him stable. Right before we went to pick him up, he had a stroke. They notified us immediately and the aftercare made a huge difference for him. So far, he is still with us. The cost was made clear up front and given that it is an emergency facility and a hospital, the cost was as expected. This is our second experience with West Vet and we have only great things to say about them.

Do not waste your time here. They are rude, and communication is going to leave you frustrated. If your animal needs surgery, they with try to get you to go to a surgeon they obviously have partnered up with to maximize profit margins. The surgeon they sent us to for our puppies broken leg was $3k to fuse the bone.
We went to ADA Veterinary Hospital and they sent us to Dr. Rosenthal at the Humane Society, who immediately took her back to place a screw with wire (for extra support), and said she'd be home in 24hrs. He was actually waiting at the front desk to receive her when we got there.
Oh ya, and total cost: $916.00

Absolutely worst place you could possibly take your animal. Came in with my dog was had severe bloody diarrhea. Waiting only a short time in the lobby area, we had high hopes that the service would be great. Wrong! We waited in the room for 2 hours before going to the counter to ask what was taking so long. They finally sent the doctor in who spent about 7 minutes with us. The technician came in with the quote of $240-340 depending on medications suggested by the doctor. They took our dog back to give shots and medication as we wait another 30+ minutes. This is supposed to be their SLOW time
... I am not impressed with the wait time, nor the service we've recieved. It's really sad that this is the only 24/7 vet in the area. I would pick any other vet if we could.

Last Sunday afternoon our dog passed away. We really didn't want to take her to the vet go die with someone else there. After we prayed we made the decision to go to the ER. We called ahead. They were prepared for Cheese. They were waiting for us when we pulled up. They took our lil Chiweeny in. The nurse was super fast about it. She knew every moment counted. They got her back and gave us an update. A few minutes later we got a call that her heart had stopped. The DRs voice was so caring she didn't pressure us into anything. Despite COVID and everything they gave us (even my 10 yr sis) time to say good bye to our furry friend. They brought her out to us wrapped in a blanket and left us to be in the garden alone. They even gave us tissues! Hands down it was heartbreaking but the staff made it bearable for all of us. They cremated Cheesepuff and gave us a ceramic print with her name on it. We will never forget this experience!

My poor 12 year old pup was suffering terribly from old age and having heart attacks. I had no money and no where to turn to help him be put out of his misery. A friend called this office and they welcomed us to come bring him in. After seeing the suffering he was enduring they offered to have him put down at no cost. Now I hated to do this but watching him hurt was far more painful and unbearable than words can express. The staff was patient understanding professional and caring. They helped me give him peace and that was priceless. Thanks to all that helped!

Everyone there was so welcoming and friendly. Dr Wethered took care of my sick dog and he is doing so much better now. The fees there are far less for an emergency Sunday visit ($70) than any other vet I have been to in Nampa ($120) or Garden City ($100). Highly recommended!

We got an accurate wait time projection when we called. All the personnel were very professional and obviously loved our dog. The vet was able to quickly remove the thorn causing the infection and treat her paw very effectively. She is only a puppy and has no fear of the vet, for which we are very thankful.

Unless you want a misdiagnosis, don't go here. They are no longer the only 24 hour emergency vet in town. They unfortunately missed that my dog had cancer and it did not get treated soon enough. We finally went for a second opinion but it was too late. This did not happen just once with one doctor, it happened twice as another doctor misdiagnosed an eye problem. They have so many problems, not just with the Doctors but also with billing and they even gave me a wrong prescription- wrong milligrams for body weight. Save yourself a lot of trouble and heart ache and go to another vet or seek a second opinion no matter what!

Took my 17 year old diabetic cat there today, cost $180.00 just to find out that it would cost another $900.00 to find out why he was not responding to his insulin shots. Could not afford the extra $900.00 so I did not get a diet plan or prescription for any more insulin (he's out of) that the Dr. told me she would E-mail me. I only received an invoice (paid in full) for $180.00 for absolutely NOTHING.

Abby just completed her PT sessions and we felt the attention and care Abby got was exceptional. They noticed a few things they were concerned about which allowed us to get an earlier appt. with Dr. Chandler to review her progress. I was skeptical the PT would be useful but it turned out to be a great thing for Abby.

I took in my 13 year old chihuahua because he wasn't eating nor drinking.
I went home because i had a call from the tech saying it maybe 6-8 hours of waiting.
The vet I spoke with over the phone, said they were going to get together a plan, as to find out why his blood sugar dropped.
She talked about doing blood work and I believe a sonogram. She said i would get a call in a little while with the information.
So about 20 minutes later, I get a phone call from one of the techs saying it would be the minimum payment of 1,982$ just to get started. And the price could change from there. He had given me another number over 2k. He said it was a range price.
I asked if they could do payments because I don't have that kind of money. He said no, I had to pay upfront and that I could do a care credit. I said I would call back after I spoke with my other half.
Well I looked up care credit and basically you have to apply for a loan.
I am 4 months pregnant, an emotional mess and I am broke.
I called back and said i would just take him back home, she said she would talk to the vet first.
Vet called me again and said he needed to be admitted. I said I don't have the money for it and that i wouldn't qualify for care credit. She said i could take him to the humane society and that they're open till 5, well the humane society doesn't do payments either and they require payment Upfront or care credit.
She said well you may want to think about euthanasia then. I said I didn't want to do that and would just bring him home. She said he could die. And I said it is what i am going to have to do because i can't afford it.
What I don't understand is i read reviews on here. And a lady was talking about she was "thankful they worked with her and did payments".
But yet they told me that wasn't an option.
I am sitting here nursing him with water and honey and trying to get him to eat. Until we can go to our primary vet tomorrow.
I thank them for giving him fluids and dextrose. For 262$
But I wouldn't recommend coming here. Expect a very large bill if you do.

Was the worse experience I've ever had with a vet. This was a second visit to a pet hospital, our 6 month old lab hadn't been able to eating or drink for over a week, we had visited a different vet who wasn't able to diagnose his issue. Point of that was we informed the technician of that visit, he had x-rays and parvo testing, we waited 6 hours in the hot sun (requirement of hospital to stay in the parking lot) where we watched multiple animals be seen and released, our inquire phone call was meet with additional wait time due to parvo testing, which was performed 6 days earlier. When he was finally able to be seen our charges where based on "emergency services" $580.00 no treatment just diagnosis within 15 minutes. I feel like emergency vet services are a scam at this establishment. And no we didn't have him treated there. He is comfortably being treated at boise humane society for a 3rd of the cost.

Our dog, Homer, was 15 years old. We took him with us to go see my grandma in Nampa. He started having difficulty breathing. Not being familiar with the 24-hour vets in the area, we Googled vet clinics and West Vet came up. My husband and son rushed him to West Vet. The medical staff took good care of Homer. They let my husband know that there was a surgery but it wasn't a 100% effective. My husband called me and we discussed our options. It was a difficult decision considering Homer had been a part of our family for 13 years but we had him euthanized and cremated. West Vet was very compassionate and empathized with us. A few weeks later we came to pick up Homer's remains and he was neatly packaged in a very nice wooden box with a plaque. They also included a keepsake that had a mold of Homer's paw print and his name. It was so nice!! You could tell that they really cared!! If we were in the town where we lived when Homer became sick, the local vet clinics wouldn't have been so nice and so thoughtful like West Vet. I highly recommend them!!

My dog Harley is in physical therapy 2 times a week, so I spend a lot of time there. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating and most important, caring and gentle. They have a great new facility that is always clean and again, the front staff and technicians are really kind and accommodating! Highly recommend WestVet!

All of the staff we encountered were caring & compassionate when our puppy broke his leg. They encouraged us to call for updates and visit him as often as we like. When we did call, they did not get annoyed and they assured us he was comfortable and getting snuggles. When we visited him, they provided us with a private place and let us spend as much time as we wanted with our pup. Dr. Chandler gave us all the information we needed about our options to make a decision, he didn t pressure us, and he patiently answered all our questions. I highly recommend Westvet!

Cardiologist, Dr. Arndt, and his assistant, Jessica, have been lifesavers for our dog who was diagnosed with heart disease. Always responsive and available - we would give 6 stars if it were an option. Thank you for such incredible professionals and thank you for having a place like WestVet in Boise.

We had to take our 13 year old Pekingese in to be euthanized in November. It was one of the hardest nights of my life and I was very emotional. The entire staff was so empathetic and kind to us. The vet even went out of his way to answer a million questions so they we knew we were making the right decision for our baby. We received his ashes, paw print and fur about a week later and it was put together beautifully. Then about another week later we received a beautiful card in which dozens of people (probably the entire staff) signed it and wrote amazingly kind things. It was very personalized and most of them even used his name in their messages. They really go above and beyond there and I felt they deserved acknowledgement. So if any staff reads this, thank you from the bottom of my heart. From Louis s mom, Christie Schrader.

Update: I received a card in the mail that said in loving memory of my sweet baby and all of them signed it and said such kind words totally filling the card. I am unbelievably thankful for the staff of this place for all they have done for us during our loss and shortly after. They carry such love and compassion within themselves and I cannot thank them enough. - I am beyond pleased with the staff of this Vet and will forever choose them for emergency and urgent care purposes. I called literally 25 different vet offices in Eagle, Meridian, Nampa, and Boise in dire need of help with my sick pup and every single one of them refused to even listen to me. I was recommended West Vet and headed there right away, did not even call because I was afraid I'd be denied like everyone else had done. Before we were even all the way through the door someone was helping us rushing us back. There had to have been 8+ vets working on our girl in attempt to save her and even more comforting us. Their services were surprisingly inexpensive despite what I have heard from others. They were very polite with the paperwork process. They were not over bearing during the viewing of our pet and made sure to not hover, and gave us as much time as we needed to say our goodbyes. I am also super happy we chose to go with the cremation service they offer. Price for both visit and private cremation was very acceptable. I am endlessly thankful for the staff at this place for making a such a hard process as easy as they could.
