The front desk person is very rude. Parked in un-parking spot. Honestly don't think he should be in a customer service job. And a stain on the bed. Other then that pretty great view and nice place.

It badly needs updates. Our room door was so crooked there was an inch opening down the latch side that anyone could have easily looked in. And the road noise was bad. Needs to be sound proofed. Restaurant was nice with good food and service.

Location is great and staff was friendly. It was a place to sleep while waiting for our actual vacation to start. But otherwise it was meh. The rooms were very adequately sized, but needed some updating and the lobby looked more budget than average. Didn't eat or use the facilities there. Our fan was loud in our room, fortunately the temperature was nice so we just turned it off.

The room was large and had a nice balcony. We stayed on a Saturday night facing the main street, and the traffic noise was loud. There's lots of cool cars showing off on the main drag early into the morning hours. I'm taking a star off from that, because otherwise we really liked it!

As a travel agent: The Westmark has the best location in downtown Anchorage. Diagonal from it is the souvenir shops and restaurants. Although it does hold a restaurant which gets busy and a small coffee area-which is so crowded in the morning.
It is close to the bus stop which can take you back to the airport. Just 1 block from the start of the Idiatrod race. Which is great since you can view the snow making, the dogs getting ready. Soundproof windows block the noise below so you are guaranteed a good night's sleep.
Free internet, connecting rooms avl, restaurant, coffee shop in the hotel too.

Great staff always willing to serve, help and recommend places and things to do.
Nice lobby with a fireplace to meet and greet friends.
Good prices even in busy season, big parking lot.

Dated and Holland America, who owns the hotel, took care of luggage broke a wheel off our new suitcase and said well give us 7 to 10 days to think about it. Try another cruise service before you think of Holland America!

It was a convenient location, booked by our cruise company. Needs some help. When we arrived for our one night before boarding the ship, dog tired and needing some sleep, we were not sure that the sheets were indeed fresh. They were wrinkled with light stains. Try to find someplace else if you can.

Be prepared for the surprise $15.00 surcharge per night for parking. Wow, didn't see that coming. Also, there's a $20.00 charge for incidentals, which I'm told will be refunded back on my credit card. Yeah, I'm still waiting on that to happen. Not recommended!

Dated is an understatement. It was clean but that is the only positive about the room. Room was on west side of bkdg and AC had to be turned down to 60 to operate. Room was very hot and very musty smelling upon arrival. Breakfast buffet was very, very overpriced.. $19/person. Mattress on bed had to be 20 yrs old. No make up mirror. Just generally not anything like the accommodations with Holland America Cruise Line prior to this leg of the trip. Very surprised and disappointed.

Nice rooms, comfortable bed, rest of hotel is badly in need of remodel. One elevator out of service. No sugar or cream with coffee until someone complained. Restaurant is too small for number of people at hotel and overpriced.

Vintage building. Entire busloads descend on the hotel & restaurant at the same time, resulting in long waits at the overpriced restaurant. Miniature toilets, approx 3/4 scale makes for an interesting first sit-down. Spotty Wi-Fi in rooms.

The room was nice enough although there were sliding glass door issues out to the balcony. The hotel would benefit from a little refreshing. We were advised us not to eat at the hotel's restaurant because the food is much better at nearby restaurants.

No way this is a 3*. Wound probably qualify as a solid 2*. This is an old hotel in serious need of a makeover. Having stayed here with Holland America about two years ago I was seeing SEVERAL of the SAME maintenance issues that I saw then. Some of them just curiosities and at least one or two SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES. SAD!

If you have a car good luck, especially in the summer. Front desk staff was excellent. Housekeeping helpful despite not having garbage bags they helped figure out where to put dirty diapers during my stay. Quiet nice comfortable room.

Look, this is a bargain hotel. It s certainly not a 5 star place but they re not advertising it as such, so don t expect anything to be glamorous and your expectations will be met. It s outdated compared to most of the popular chain hotels, (case in point: the cable is somehow still standard definition) but seeing as this is Anchorage, Alaska, a little out of date should be expected. The price really should reflect the quality a little more but if you found this as a deal on a travel booking website, it s hard to pass up and if you re only here for a night or two max, you ll probably get by just fine.

Dated hotel in need of renovation. Stopped at hotel as part of cruise land/sea tour. Staff is very friendly, but hotel is tired. Its location is central and there are several dining options and points of interest within walking distance. Unfortunately due to the massive influxes of people we encountered 2 plus hour waits to sit down for meals outside of the in hotel restaurant. Hotel restaurant has okay food with good staff.

Large rooms with alcove sleeping area, black out curtains and on site restaurant. Room was in need of refurbishing as the desk chair upholstery was torn and frayed, the sofa was sagging and the wooden furniture was marred. On a positive note, housekeeping was responsive to a request for an extra blanket.

My wife and her mom stayed in room 1402 the highest floor. It had a little balcony and the view was nice. The beds were pretty comfertable queens and the bathroom and shower were nice too. The staff is both efficient and unobtrusive. It was a great stay my wife had a great time.

Other reviews are accurate - while the bed was comfy, the hotel just had an old and dirty feel. My room reeked of weed and had a broken charging station/outlet, and noises from the street came in throughout the night. $15 parking

I d recommend paying a few extra pennies for hotels a bit further south

DONT DO IT!!

DONT DO IT!!
This hotel is possibly the worst one in Anchorage. Horribly Overpriced, dirty, noisy, I have seen roach motels nicer than this. Wi Fi didn't work, no hot water for shower, no washcloths in the room, sheets smelled like feet, no corrections offered. No manager available at morning checkout but employee promised to have "Lola" call when she came in. That was 2 days ago. Save yourselves, stay elsewhere.

Stayed at this hotel as part of my Holland of America tour . Its got a good location but everything else is disappointing . The hotel is old and dirty . The rooms need fresh paint and repairing . I was upset that they put me in a handicap room . Not that I have anything against disability . I work in a hospital and it felt more like a hospital bathroom than an hotel . The bed was very comfortable I must say . I complained to the manager but was not able to move to another room . The hotel
Was solid books for the next 4 nights .
