WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! They don t know their policy. Got two different answers from two different people within five minutes. Was charged for TWO full months of insurance after my policy was canceled and still have not received my refund check. They are located twenty minutes from me and are trying to blame the post office. I doubt the post office is two weeks delayed with only a few miles between locations. A couple of years ago, they stopped paying for my care after an injury from a car accident. I will be going to the attorney general. Avoid this company.

Over the summer my city experienced a serious natural disaster and my home suffered damage. I'm not just a first time claimant, but a first time home owner- this was a scary situation for me. I can't speak highly enough about my experience with Western National. They made a really terrible situation a little bit better and a little bit easier.
Once I filed my claim their representatives were super responsive, making sure I understood what the process was and the timeline I should expect. Every person I spoke with was kind, patient, and professional.
Now that I've gotten some of the work done they've continued to be extra informative. When I had questions about contractor invoices, they helped me understand those too! I had no issues getting needed coverage for sustained damage. I feel that Western National truly is the safety net they are supposed to be.
One of your costumers hit my work truck & trailer on July 17th while drunk & nothing from you guys ? its almost been a month. Your response time is terrible. My neighbors who got hit as well , they already got spoke with you guys and have resolved it. Why not us? We have called, emailed & even left voicemails.
I switched to this company after being with State Farm for 25 years. State Farm would not reduce my car rates which were ridiculous. I have had no accidents or tickets for years. I rec'd great rates from Western for my vehicles. Home owners was about 100.00 cheaper. So I went with them. I had my vehicle break down in the middle of the road on Feb 3. I called the number on the back of the card and they could not find my policy. On hold for a long time. Hung up after being told they cannot locate my policy number. I then called back and again same thing. Cant find my policy number they then blind transfer me to someone in corporate who tells me they can find my policy number this happens often. Finally my policy is found and she tells me to call anybody I want to tow the car. They pay up to a certain dollar amount submit the receipt and they will pay me back. State Farm calls the tow for you and arranges everything. No big deal but I should of been told this on the first call. Not sure if I will renew with this company in this coming summer.
Last August my city went through a natural disaster. At first my agent was great but as they found more damage he started to back pedal on his promises to fix everything. I had to get a second adjuster that supported the damages I have. My agent made me feel like I was a liar. Now my agent will not respond and will not pay me for damages I am owed money for
I love working with Western National. Great company that has great coverages, and great rates. They are also great when it comes to dealing with claims.
I don t even know where to begin. This company prides themselves on relationships with the insurance brokers but completely neglect the customer until it s too late. Friday 1/29 I received a letter (printed 1/27)stating that my HO insurance would be cancelled due to lack of compliance in showing updated electrical since the home was built. The options on the letter were pretty much... either you can dispute this or you can file an appeal. Well, if I would have been notified before this it would never have happened. So I sent an email regarding their lack of customer service (waited on hold for 30 min to have an automated machine say no one could help me and to leave a voicemail) I think not. I need a paper trail because this company is a SCAM.
Fast forward to 2/1 I get a email stating that everything has been reversed and we re good to go. FANTASTIC RIGHT? NOPE. Fast forward to 2/3 I get two envelopes in the mail. One with a check cut for the amount of my premium and no explanation check was cut 1/28. Second envelope had a nice little letter(printed 1/26) from the insurance company stating that my insurance has now been canceled as of the 22nd of January due to NON-PAYMENT OF PREMIUM. HELLO!?!? You just cut me a check for my premium!?!? So now what? I have no insurance because this company doesn t know how to properly communicate with the CUSTOMER WHO IS PAYING THEM. I m so done with this. I m reporting you to the BBB. This is absolutely unacceptable. Once again can t get through on the phone lines need to leave a voicemail.
And this is just the home owners insurance issues. Don t get me started on their car insurance and neglectfully cheap appraisals. I WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.
EDIT 9/14: I finally got to the bottom of my increase. I was sent a questionnaire that asked what type of siding my home has. I filled this out, stating my siding is vinyl. AHA! Because my siding is this type, my rate when up approx 15% according to the person I spoke with at WNI. WHAT!!! Not happy about this. It took me a month and numerous phone calls to get a straight answer. 15% increase because of siding, 10% because of annual rate increase. I offered a compromise of taking half if the increase this year (because of my 20 loyalty to them) and the full increase plus regular rate increase next year. I was told it would be brought to a manager and I would be contacted..... CRICKETS. I've not been contacted again which tells me, "NOPE, we decide what happens. Like it, or leave"! GREAT COMPANY, RIGHT?? Yes, WNI has been great when I've had a claim over the years. But, getting to the bottom of this issue has been frustrating to say the least. It begs to question where using WMI vs a low rate company brings value to me as a customer. EDIT 8/10: standard response, blah, blah blah. In speaking with agent he offerred a different company policy through him. Speaking to Customer Relations at WNINS, they say: credit score (offering to rerun), siding update, all losses go into a pool/bucket and are spread amongst customers at renewal, you have a "best HO insurance so we can look at "better" with less coverage, blah, blah! NO GOOD ANSWER TO WHY MY POLICY WENT UP 27%!!! BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY WITH NO LOYATY TO THE CUSTOMER. ************ My latest annual home owners insurance policy is increasing by 27%. Yes 27%!! After 21 years with this company, I will be leaving. My agent, Advance Insurance, Edina MN, tells me this is strictly WNINS making the increase.
We've had them since we've moved in to our home. In that 7 years we've had 3 weather related claims, did the math and we've paid them 3 times the amount they've paid out to us and they dropped us after a natural disaster. They've only responded to about half of our correspondence. They're great as long as you don't actually need them.
