About Western golf association/evans scholars foundation

The Western Golf Association (WGA) is a non-profit organization that conducts championships for golfers, promotes the use of caddies, and supports the Evans Scholars Foundation's (ESF) efforts to award full tuition and housing scholarships to caddies with limited financial means. The WGA was founded in 1899 by a group of Chicago-area golf enthusiasts who wanted to promote the game of golf and support young caddies.

Over the years, the WGA has grown into one of the most respected organizations in golf. It conducts several prestigious tournaments each year, including the BMW Championship, which is part of the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup playoffs. The WGA also runs several amateur championships for men and women, including the Western Amateur and Women's Western Amateur.

One of the key missions of the WGA is to promote caddying as an integral part of golf. Caddies provide valuable assistance to players on course management, club selection, and reading greens. They also help maintain pace-of-play by keeping players focused on their shots rather than searching for lost balls or measuring distances.

To encourage more young people to take up caddying as a profession or hobby, the WGA sponsors several programs that provide training and education for aspiring caddies. These programs include Caddy Academy, which teaches basic skills such as carrying bags and raking bunkers; Caddy Camps, which offer more advanced training in course management and player interaction; and Caddy Scholarships, which provide financial assistance for college-bound students who have worked as caddies.

In addition to promoting caddying as an important aspect of golf culture, another major focus area for WGA is supporting higher education opportunities through its partnership with ESF. The Evans Scholars Foundation was established in 1930 by famed golfer Chick Evans Jr., who himself had been a successful amateur golfer before turning professional at age 26.

Evans created ESF with one goal in mind: To help deserving young men and women attend college through full-tuition scholarships awarded based on academic achievement, leadership skills demonstrated both inside/outside classroom settings & financial need criteria met by applicants from across America who have worked hard as high school students while serving their communities through various volunteer activities like being involved with youth sports teams or other civic organizations etc..

Since its inception over eight decades ago until now - ESF has awarded more than $500 million worth scholarships helping thousands upon thousands achieve their dreams & goals while making positive impact on society at large!

The partnership between WGA & ESF has been instrumental in providing opportunities for many deserving students across America over past few decades! Together they have helped countless individuals achieve their dreams & aspirations while making significant contributions towards building stronger communities nationwide!

In conclusion - if you are passionate about golfing or simply want to support worthy causes related education then consider getting involved with either/both organizations today! Whether it be volunteering your time at local events hosted by these groups or donating funds towards scholarship programs - every little bit helps make difference!
