I am in my 50s and never thought I would get to attend college. But despite the fact that I had learning disabilities, a lack of confidence in myself, and being financially strapped, I have been able to find a college that has a special way teaching,no matter what your circumstances are. West valley is like one big happy family. I can honestly say that if not for the fantastic caring staff and faculty, I would not have gotten that far. West Valley College is the best decision I have ever made. I know no other college would come close. There truly is nothing better out there.

The worst parking policy. Very eager to issue parking tickets. Unless you look very carefully, you would miss the sign that reminds you to buy the parking permit. If you take the wrong entrances, you would miss the signs completely. Many ticket machines do not function or is partially working. I had to walk around to ask for one dollar bills, as it does not take quarters or 5-dollar bill.

My experience with West Valley is mixed. On one hand, I am grateful for the location and utility of the school. On the other, a series of bad experiences have given me an overall negative impression of this school.

Most of my teachers were good, but several were bad to the point that I am amazed they still have a job. In my final semester here, I had a circuits teacher who refused to return any exams and only played videos from open courseware. He refused to work example problems.

Further, the administration does not do a good job educating students on the steps necessary to complete their degrees and transfer in 2 years. A counselor misinformed me of what requirements my APs met, forcing me to take an overloaded semester to remain on track. Worse, the admissions and record system LOST an official transcript from another school, which nearly cost me admission to my dream school and took 4 hours in person to correct.

The web infrastructure of this college is abysmal. Not only is it frequently down, it is more outdated than MySpace, with terrible UI, slow load times, and a login that only sometimes works.

If you are considering west valley, I would recommend you instead attend De Anza, Mission, or Foothill, regardless of your proximity to this school.

Good luck.

They try to keep you here longer than necessary and do not give you the correct information to transfer. The science teachers are often terrible and actively try to fail students. It has become so bad that students are trying to get them fired. I have yet to meet someone who has met a counselor and not been given misinformation.

This is a fine school and I'd like to publicly apologize for a previous low rating. Objectively now I see the school aims to promote and nurture the minds of all ages and backgrounds. A noble aim along with great educators makes this a 5 star school.

As a student of West Valley-Mission College District, I was able to attend this college for one class which was listed on the same transcript at Mission College. It is a nice campus and more of a suburban feel to it. The instructor was nice and helpful. If it was closer to my home, I would have gone to this campus for more classes.

They've added more buildings and updated many more. Plenty of parking available but can be confusing on where you can park for free or limited time (you need to pay attention to the signs and make sure you pay if you don't have a permit). They'll typically have a parking officer roam around and ticket people so be sure to park in the designated spots that makes sense to your visit.

My Alma mater and my favorite campus on earth. I have the best memories here. I studied mechanical engineering, and swam on the intercollegiate team here for 2 years. Great school and great professors and staff!!!!
