There is a story behind the setting up of this club in the late 20s of the last century. And it's interesting I must say. Apparently the club was started by local Marwari businessman as Indians were not allowed membership to the famous Calcutta Rowing Club. Now, close to 90 years later, the club is thriving. It of course carries on a few legacies of the conservative past. For example, the club is still a pure vegetarian place and of course there are no drinks served. But on the facilities front there are no compromises. They have one of best badminton courts of Kolkata. There is provision for Billiards, Squash, Table Tennis and Swimming. They have two pools out of which the smaller one is heated. The Rowing facilities are the best and it's swarming with rowers on weekends. The club is one of the first to be green certified in India.

This is one of the most developed clubs of Kolkata. Not only that the club organizes many types of competition in the different time of the year. In this year, I have participated in 5 k. m. marathon. I have given below some photos of that event. In future I am also willing to participate in the marathon, organized by this club.
