My wife and I love this place, there is so much to explore, from multiple rooms of seemingly every category of book, to the helpful staff recommendations and highlights. They have a great children's book section as well. If you don't find what you need they can order it for you, and the prices are reasonable.
A breeze to order anything not in stock and have it ready to pick up so fast! Makes it easy to support and shop local!

The Book Table is my favorite store in Oak Park. They have a great selection from a variety of genres, plus a killer magazine rack. The staff is always super nice too.

The selection here is pretty good and they're always more than happy to order something for you. The prices are excellent; probably better than any other brick and mortar book store I've been to in a while. The employees are friendly and very helpful! I recently had a discussion with one of the employees and received several great book recommendations. Check this place out!
My favorite bookstore! The people are friendly and they have some riveting books. I like to spend at least 320 minutes just looking to see what they have in stock.

Hands down my favorite bookstore. I appreciate that the staff actually reads and have valid opinions. The pricing is great and I think that it competes with online book sales, it's really nice to get the book you wanted at Amazon prime pricing but you get the experience of going to the bookstore and having the book right away. The atmosphere of this place is amazing, I often lose track of time browsing here. They will also order a title for you if they happen to not carry it in store at the time; while still offering it to you with at least 20 percent off. Best shop in oak park.

Phenomenal neighborhood book store. They have a very large and organized selection. If the store doesn't have a book in stock, they can special order it and give a discount.
This shop is everything a book store should be, it has a large variety, cool layout and a really cool kid section. A few weeks back I could not find a translation of a Russian novel online anywhere. They found it in a few minutes in English, ordered it for me and bam we were ready to read.

The Book Table expanded their space and cements its place as one of the best independent bookstores in the Chicago area. Excellent selection, including new, used, and rare books. Helpful staff, dedicated owners, numerous events. This is a destination for any reader anywhere near Chicago.

This is a remainder store, not a conventional book store like B&N.
They say they are fiercely independent, which is laughable. Store is left-wing. or very liberal. They sell the same books, more or less, of major corporate publishers. as others do. Some independent or private publishers, so, do you care? The 15% discount is not enough for me. If you want to shop local, go ahead but don't feel obliged.
I bought good books here. And the overhead music reminds me of Barnes and Noble and corporate big box stores.

Best book store ever! They will happily order anyting and get it in less than a week. The selection is huge and the service is old-fashioned all of the clerks are extremely knowledgeable and can help you find just about anything and are willing to make suggestions based on your style and what you like. It is the best customer service I have had anywhere!
Nowhere has a better selection of books OR gifts, but what makes the Book Table stand out are those fabulous handwritten review cards on the displays recommending a books. If I'm. Not coming in for something specific, they really DO help cut through the clutter. Whoever plans these does a much better job curating genres and putting like things together than most, which meant I left with two books and three more on my "should read" list!
This independent bookstore is excellent, and, at a time when whole chains are closing, has succeeded not just in keeping its head above water, but actually in growing and expanding with a new rare book and first edition section.
I could spend hours in this bookstore. The selection is excellent, the staff is knowledgeable and personable, the only thing this place is missing is seats to spend a whole lazy day in, reading (I guess for a reason, I would not be the only one tempted to spend my whole day in there).
Please visit and buy books, magazines, kids books, and gifts in this bookstore! It is a truly remarkable Oak Park institution that deserves being supported and cherished.
