Despite the many critical comments by people who probably think they're the only ones who exist and are in need of healthcare, Waterbury Hospital offers good quality care to the community! No hospital or healthcare system is perfect and people can find fault when that's all they're focused on. I've received care at this hospital on several occasions, including ER, OR, and inpatient, and it's always been positive. Those who focus on negativity usually only see the negative. People in the greater Waterbury area should be proud that Waterbury Hospital offers services that at one time used to only be available in Hartford or New Haven. Keep up the good work!
My father was brought to that horrible hospital via ambulance at 9:30 this morning. He was unable to walk even to get to the car to be brought by a family member to the hospital consequently the ambulance. There was never a question about the need for surgery or the need for any fasting bloodwork, yet he was allowed to lay alone in that despicable emergency room until 530 pm with nothing to eat. He DOES have diabetes and did take medication for that condition this morning yet was not fed anything the entire day. Where is simple compassion for an 85 year old man who was left alone for over 8 hours with no food? Give me a break Waterbury Hospital! You are a pathetic excuse for a hospital! Glenn, RN
The staff at Waterbury Hospital were AMAZING! I had to get an MRI and a lumbar puncture, and never having had these procedures before, I was very anxious.
Nancy and Debbie at the MRI building were extremely kind and understanding, and really helped in calming me down and walking me through everything they had to do.
Justin and Wendy took care of my lumbar puncture and they were also very nice and understanding of my anxieties. Before the procedure they explained everything step by step, and during they talked me through everything they were doing.
While going to the hospital is never a fun experience, the staff here are incredible and do everything they can to make sure the visit is as easy as possible.
Not only is it shabby, and "do anything to get you in and out" like a piece of meat, but heartless as well! They left a 71 year old man who was brought to the hospital by AMBULANCE, and needs a cane to walk, to get from Waterbury to his home in Naugatuck. Shame on you Waterbury Hospital! Shame on you!!! Any hospital with a SCRAP OF CARE would have seen him home safe. Lucky thing he has neighbors who care. I've been to Waterbury H as well. You are just a dollar sign to them. GO TO GRIFFIN IF YOU CAN!
My wife gave birth to two children at Waterbury Hospital and the care she has received has been exceptional. Great caring and professional staff. Wonderful experiences overall from admission to care to discharge.
Disgusting, waiting in the ER, for almost 3 hours and my son hasn t even been seen. His finger is open to the bone and smashed but nope, not a priority asked when he d be seen and they said we had to wait so disgusted .
My wife and I just recently had a baby born there and for every nice nurse it was accommodated by 3 rude ones. This isn t our first born...we have two other perfectly healthy children but if you aren t doing things there way then you re wrong and in there eyes unqualified. I won t say any names but our first RN was great after that they were all rude, stuck up and their personalities don t fit into this center of the hospital. The Food Manager was nicer than the vast majority of nurses we came across. Not to mention, our room was in poor condition. The water on one of the sinks dripped all night, the shower glass wall came detached from the screw, the wall looked like a sledge hammer had been taken to it. It s just poorly kept. You get different answers from everyone in addition to all of this. One person tells you the test results are one way while another tells you something completely different. The communication, the respect, the skills it takes to be successful in this field are at the bare minimum at Waterbury Hospital and if my wife and I decide to have another before calling it quits I will do everything in my power to not have the child here.
Although the doctor and some nurses are very kind, good and patient. They do not consider the language barrier in some cases. My husband does not speak English or sometimes don't understand it. I speak fluently on both. The few times we have been here they say they have translators on call but ITS A LIE!!! I HAVE TO TRANSLATE EVERYTHING BY PHONE CALL, TALK TO THE DOCTOR, listen if he needs to do test, translate questions that he might had. Then they say "we got it covered" when they obviously dont
