Washington Women in Need: Empowering Women to Reach Their Full Potential
Washington Women in Need (WWIN) is a non-profit organization that has been empowering women in Washington State since 1992. The organization provides financial assistance, education, and support to low-income women who are striving to improve their lives and the lives of their families.
At WWIN, we believe that when a woman sees what’s possible, she aims high. With the right support, she reaches her full potential. When women succeed, we all thrive. That’s why our mission is to empower women by providing them with the tools they need to achieve their goals.
Our Programs
WWIN offers several programs designed to help low-income women overcome financial barriers and achieve their dreams:
1. Education Grants: We provide grants of up to $5,000 per year for tuition and books for women who are pursuing higher education or job training.
2. Health Care Grants: We offer grants of up to $1,000 per year for health care expenses not covered by insurance.
3. Professional Development Grants: We provide grants of up to $2,500 per year for professional development opportunities such as conferences or workshops.
4. Emergency Assistance Grants: We offer one-time grants of up to $500 for emergency expenses such as rent or utilities.
In addition to financial assistance, WWIN also provides mentorship and networking opportunities through our annual Leadership Luncheon and other events throughout the year.
Our Impact
Since our founding in 1992, WWIN has helped over 6,000 women achieve their goals through our programs and services. Our impact goes beyond just providing financial assistance – we help build confidence and self-esteem in the women we serve so they can go on to become leaders in their communities.
One example is Maria*, a single mother who was struggling financially while attending college full-time. She received an education grant from WWIN which allowed her to focus on her studies without worrying about how she would pay for tuition and books. With our support, Maria graduated with honors and went on to become a successful business owner.
