As a random walk-in into a Chase branch while traveling away from my hometown, I expected to receive standard good service. But the service and assistance I received from Ms. Taghreed Gohar at the branch at 4543 Campus Drive in Irvine totally blew me away. Ms. Gohar treated me as if I were a long time valued client of hers. She gave me her complete attention, went through all the details of my request, processed everything correctly, all the while being wonderfully cordial and appreciative of my business. It was obvious that Ms. Gohar enjoys her job and her place of work. She also took the time to help me work with Chase technical support to fix a problem with my online profile. And to top it off, she followed up with a phone call to me after a couple of weeks to confirm that everything had been set up and completed to my satisfaction.

I've been a Chase customer for many years, and I'm obviously very pleased.

This is the first time I had a bad experience with Chase. I applied for a credit card and was told to send a copy of the SSN. I didn't want to waste the time mailing back and forth so decided it would be quicker if I worked with an employee directly. Or so I thought. Came to this Chase branch on a Saturday late morning, nobody greeted me for a good 15 mins. Til a lady finally came out, she asked for my SSN and again disappeared for another 10 mins just to fax my SSN somewhere else. She came back, told me I would have to call to another number to make sure my copy of SSN was received. What I don't understand is I had to waste nearly 30 mins just to have my paper faxed somewhere else, which I could have done on my own for only 5 mins. Terrible service. I would only deposit money at the ATM in front of this bank if I ever came here again.

The worst chase branch location, they give fake $100 bills and have no respect for your wasted time. We cashed some money from our chase bank account and went to another bank to deposit it and more than 2 of the $100 bills were fake and when I went back into the location they didn t have any respect for my wasted time or accepting the fact that they need to change their way of accepting money or how fake money is being processed by their bank tellers.

I came in for something long and annoying but Alexis Salazar and the other tellers were so amazing and patient. They took their time and answered all my questions and made sure I understood what was going on and didn't have any confusion. Thanks guys for such great service!

Terrible mortgage lending department. Little to no...

Terrible mortgage lending department. Little to no communication with the customer unless you constantly hound them, and the worst part is that they don't deliver on time. Did not fund the loan by our closing date, and no end in sight for underwriting review even though we've been "pre-approved," "approved," and told that we submitted sufficient documentation for everything.

We never really had problems with our checking account, but our experience with the lending department has convinced us to close our account after this debacle ends. Our real estate agent said she'd check if she owned stock so that she could dump it.

You should know how the incentives are set up. Chase is huge and gets tons of mortgage and refinance business. Therefore, if your file is stuck, your local lending agent has zero control over the process. Your file gets in line with everyone else's and gets processed whenever they get to it, regardless of the urgency of your situation. You're a drop in the bucket for them, so they don't care if or when they fund your single, puny home loan. Mortgage brokers and small, local banks, on the other hand, have all the incentive to not only fund your loan on time, but make sure you're happy with the process. They're middle men for big lenders, but everyone up the chain has more incentive to make everyone happy all the way down to you, since each link is a more significant portion of their business at every step.

Yes, Chase will offer you better rates, but it's really not worth the struggle. Value your time and personal happiness appropriately (and days from the end of your life that the stress will take off), and the rate difference isn't so much after all.
