Not only the worst hbcu in the country. The worst college in the country. Maybe even the worst school in the country. The teachers are hit or miss but the administration so bad, that I am beginning to question what the value of a business degree from an institution that doesn't understand how to conduct its own business is worth. Last fall I did not get my financial aid refund until there was a week left in the semester. (Yes, that means no books, no food for 90% of the semester). This semester, I cannot enroll in classes because of an administrative error and the lack of urgency of their employees to respond to voicemails, emails, and phone calls. If Florida were even a remotely respectable state, they would revoke FAMU's license to do business, but this is Florida and you can't expect everything from everybody.

Hands down the worst experience I've ever had with any university. Everything was unorganized and when you try calling they direct you to extensions that don't even work. It is draining and stressful. I used to want to come here because of it's 'status' as an HBCU abut not anymore. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone

If I could give it a negative star I would also. Just checked my account, getting ready to sign up for classes for the fall and there is a 500 "differential fee" on my account!! WTF, I could'nt believe it. And couldnt get through to have my questions answered on what this fee is, had to look it up online. I have had a horrible freshman year at this school and they just ruined it for me. I will not be coming back to be robbed by a bunch of crooks who could care less about the students!! Especially the ones that work in the Foote Hilyer administration bldg.

This university was one of the most unorganized university s I ve ever been to. The staff were unprofessional and were saying comments. I found a cockroach in the seating area were we eat. They told us to Don t y all ever come back . They took of the ice cream handles because of how much people were using it. This place smells like depression. The staffs hate their job. You can t tell the difference between a elementary cafeteria to this cafeteria. Don t come here. highly recommend. Thank me later!!!

The #1 HBCU in the U.S. No HBCU compares to it. There is nothing like being a rattler. I am definitely inspired by the black male Professors. They may not have the big bucks but they are family and community oriented.

FAMU taught me how to challenge myself to be a better adult. When I first arrived on campus I hated it. New school, new state, new culture but by the time I graduated I was ready for the real world.

It's not always easy but if you know what to expect you can protect yourself and survive.

FAMU taught me how to be professional, smart and adaptive to everything life has to offer.

Though I am an alumni I support Dr. Magnum and her amazing commit to moving FAMU FORWARD!

People always want to brag about this school because it's African American strong blah blah blah. But they are the most unorganized school I've ever attended for this to be a University, which is typical for black people right ? I've only attended for not even a month & I don't like the school. I attended Valencia College in Orlando and they are efficient and professional in so many more ways than this school is. I regret coming here and hope these two years fly by.

I am a student here at FAMU and though I love the student life and campus atmosphere this university will never progress and be an elite school. The administration is absolutely atrocious and many of the staff members are inexcusably rude and inconsiderate. I've tried my hardest at this university as a student I have a 3.6 GPA however this university makes you jump through so many unnecessary hurdles. I mind you I am also an athlete here at the university and get to represent it at the highest level. I am extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with this university because it could truly do so much better. I cannot wait to leave this university to rid myself of this atmosphere and the stress that has come with it.

Very rich in its history. I love my HBCU, but SHOULD THEY IMPROVE THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE?? YES! ABSOLUTELY YES. The people who work for this school have, by far,THE WORST customer service I've ever encountered in my life and I'm a junior.

My relatives are alumni in 1 way or another. I was a alumni of FAMU DRS . I have love for the University, The best hbcu in the area. Fact is a great school need a leader. FAMU need a leader that can lead with out being buddy buddy pal with the trustee's department. This leader need to be competent to the board of governors as well. Plus FAMU leader need to know FAMU as a past student or faculty that had solid standings before there departure. This type of leader will elevate FAMU to the elite level like no HBCU have ever seen!!

Academically- 10/10 excellent teachers and well rounded staff with diverse backgrounds

Student Life-2/10, not much variety to do on campus, 90% of student are from south Florida, might as well be University of Miami Tallahassee Campus at this point. Not much extra-curricular activities either. Huge turn off from an out-of-state students perspective because there is such a lack of diversity among the backgrounds of the students. On top of that, FAMU is always in the media for something stupid like REPEATED fraudulent funding or rape or hazing.

No Tradition-Unlike Howard or Tuskegee, there is a definite lack of prestige and class on and off campus. You can definitely tell when people ask what school you attend, you will get the an oh that's nice versus a wow that amazing. On campus, more students are too focused on making it daily fashion show than actually learning.

The absolute worse thing about this institution is that staff that runs the Administrative Offices. They are utterly and completely rude all the time and too ALL the students. The ones that are nice usually can't help you and your transferred to some incompetent local. It will drive you insane and waste so much of your time your better off transferring to FSU like I did or go to Tuskegee.

I do not recommend going here on the premise of the latter. It is a living nightmare dealing with FA or the Registrar. If you care about your career you will go to an institution that values its students. The college you attend does matter, if anyone tells you otherwise they are are lying to you. I hope FAMU can one day realize how vile its staff is to its students and actually do something to change it.

The attitudes faculty members have are ridiculous. Literally had to "go off" on a professor for being loud and rude about my health condition in front of the entire class. Parking is ridiculous. Degree requirements are ridiculous compared to other universities. Just unprofessional in all aspects!! Besides the student body being amazing, I regret transferring here. Just dont do it, please reconsider.

Terrible customer service and rude representatives. Completely unprofessional employees who don't want to help students and are just happy to collect a paycheck. FAMU needs to employ people who understand that their job is to assist students, not to be uncivil and insulting behind a phone or desk. Completely unsatisfactory for a university making students pay so much.
