Yes, it is a tourist trap. We still had to stop. Spent way too much on souvenirs, but hey, good place to get gifts to give people. Prices are rather high, but I think that depends on what area of the country you are from. The food was good and I loved the idea of 5 cent coffee! The coffee was good. Coming during covid the 6 foot rabbit was put away with only the jackalope out. I love reading the history of how they got started. Would I stop again...sure I would.

Wall Drug was everything I hoped it would be and more! Great prices, great food, great family fun. There is no other place like it! It is an absolutely absurd place with shop upon shop of souveniers, BUT you MUST go for their food, and be sure to take advantage of the free ice water!

Roadside attraction at its best! Expensive food that is mediocre quality, but a fun experience. Lots of old times things to look at! There is a bookstore, candy shop, art and even a chapel! Plus, you can take lots of fun selfies with the crazy props they have everywhere!

Great place, don t bring your dogs. We did. Bad idea. I have one that likes to bark and protect us from every other dog on the planet. Once he is away from the offender, he pees aggressively on everything. The other dog like to eat things. More

We stop every time we go to Alaska, or any place else we go north of San Francisco. Our kids always wanted to stop from age 5 into adulthood. One has to wonder how so many can rate it a 5 and how many can rate it a one and some say some really bad things. My guess is that the 1 ratings come from New Yorkers, or rich people who couldn't appreciate the best "tourist trap" in America, which it just might be. It is like a carnival with a Western flavor and high end items too. I say bah- humbug to the ones who have no taste for a fantastic tourist trap with a great variety of terrific food!

The incessant highway billboards are entertaining - they're all different, so give credit to the sign makers. Wall Drug itself is indeed a shock of a tourist trap though. I don't spend money easily on stuff I don't need, so was ready to leave soon after arrival. We were hungry but the restaurant had a cafeteria smell - you know, burnt coffee and old grease - so we passed. In fact, the town of Wall itself is probably best passed over.

Ok ok. Maybe 2.5. The signs advertised all along the way were way fun. I was so excited to go! It is still worth the stop. For real, it is. It is a tourist stop. 100%. Sooo, during a global pandemic, not recommended unless you re prepared to not have a chance to social distance so where your masks and disposable gloves. Free ice water. 5 cent coffee. Get a donut! They are made fresh on sight. Get in line ASAP. Use the restrooms in the back cuz no one knows about them.

First off let me say that I would give this place negative stars if it was an option. After visiting I envision this is what hell is like. HUGE TOURIST TRAP! Very busy and chaotic. There is mostly just souvenir shops, everywhere you look. Crappy souvenirs; rocks, geodes, cheap trinkets (that are expensive). They have an insane amount of billboards leading up to this place, from the moment you hit the South Dakota border (so about 300 miles of billboards), claiming to be an American Icon!!! They advertise homemade donuts, which we couldn't find anywhere, I guess they could have been in one of the very few cafe/restaurants but it's not advertised anywhere once you get there, I was so looking forward to this so I was disappointed. They have a small splash pad there, but personally I don't want my kids running around these shops soaking wet. One and only positive was the homemade fudge shop, the fudge is excellent and decent priced. Do yourself a favor DRIVE ON BY!!!!

Great place to stop. Lots of fun things to see and do. Many shops with everything you can imagine.

The restaurant was nice and the food was good. They also have a bakery, ice cream shop, candy and more.

Kids will really enjoy Wall Drug. There are lots of photo opportunities so take your camera.

Some e parts of the attractions are outside so dress appropriately.

RIP off! The salesperson Lynette P was rude and wouldn't get prices on items. There are no bar codes on anything and you have to pay in each section but the signs that say that are too high to notice. It is not handicapped friendly. Not worth the stop. Ruined my wife's day because she gathered gifts for family and wasn't allowed to pay in one place. We left it all on counter and left. Will not give our money to this place.

My son and I stopped here after touring the badlands like thousands of other tourists do.

Pros: We got our free water and some neat souvenirs.

Cons: the handmade ice cream and milkshakes they bragged about for miles on billboards was closed. The original drug store that peeked my interest was closed (limited hours M-F 8:30-5). The cafe had a huge line calling out orders. No social distancing being practiced.

It s pretty much a large Spencer s with a chapel in it. Cool to get something to say you were there no real reason to go back.

Don t go, don t waste your time. It s awfully crowded, a ridiculous tourist trap, and nothing really worth stopping for. The only redeeming quality was the ice cream shop, the shakes were amazing (but the cookie dough ice cream was awful).

Touristy, ok food, had a burger and fries and paid close to $20 for I don't know what. You're better off eating before coming here then spending your time just walking around, maybe get a souvenir, smash a penny, get an over priced donut for the road.

Cute. Very geriatric. I think I'll come back in 20 years. Then it'll be a hoot, I'm sure. It's a whole main street of shops and novelty. The restrooms were clean and that was my purpose.

Wall drug is a must stop if you are traveling through South Dakota in the I90. You cant miss it with all the billboards they have filled through the highway. They still have the free ice water and cheap coffee tradition, the food was considerably good. And the badlands national park is very closely as well.

Fun stop! Yes, it s kitschy, but that s part of the appeal. There s lots of fun things to look at, an outdoor and indoor area for kids, and the donuts are delicious! One suggestion, do the rock mining, not the rock panning. The rock mining can be enjoyed by the whole family, you get more rocks, and it s the same price as the rock panning.

Great place. Lots of things to see and do for all ages. Was looking for a painting of a truck that says Mitchell, 2 people in front of a campfire and two horses behind them. Sadly we were not able to find it.

The advertisement efforts for 200 miles+ were by far the best part. Clean bathrooms and free parking if you want to poop in a place where you feel like you might die from tacky tourism overload.

My family and I had a great time here! Take the time and get off the highway and drive over and see this place. There are so many stores inside this Wall Drug. It just keeps going and going and going. Pretty much anything you can think of buying on a trip you will find here. I'm giving it a five because everything we bought here was quality made!

As usual, Wall Drug Cafe delivers a wonderful meal. While their roast beef sandwich is to die for, I got the chicken bacon ranch that I always order when visiting. The foreign employees are wonderful to engage with and learn their stories, and everyone is friendly. If you cross South Dakota on 90 and don't stop at Wall Drug you're making a mistake.

It had been many years since we were last at Wall Drug. It has grown and probably now would take an entire day to see it all. It is still fun and unique to it's purpose. Worth stopping for whether one is on the way to the Black Hills or coming from them. We came for dinner on a rainy evening.
Had Buffalo Burgers that came with a big stack of onion rings. Everything is served hot and fresh. We also had a piece of apple pie ala mode to share. It was excellent but at $6.29, one piece was plenty.
Wall Drug closes at nine, so we didn't have much time to walk around.
There is street parking, which is free, and there is plenty, but it can still get crowded.
Budget what you shall buy, there are many choices.
Be sure to visit the Back Yard. Lots of fun photo ops there. Unfortunately, it was closed by darkness and rain when we hoped to check it out.

What a fun place to visit. The staff is extremely fast and attentive, the food was good and the place? Full of fun stuff to look around.

Beside that the history of the place is by itself a good reason to go and visit.

Always a stop for us to and from the Black Hills and it never gets old. There is always something cool to find and purchase. Food is really good and the Free Ice Water is always cold.

EDIT 08OCT2017 - Stopped in for a slice of apple pie on our way to the hills and its still amazing.

Road weary and in need of a restroom I found myself fighting through wave after wave of poorly socialized, odiferous rednecks from all across America's clogged Heartlands. No, Wall Drug I do not feel nostalgia for the golden days of Wild West genocide and culturally appropriated kitsch. I pooped and left.

Wall to Wall people! See what I did there? It is a fun little break from the nothingness that is I-90 across South Dakota. It is definitely a crowded little place, however. I am not a fan of crowds but had a pretty good time here. We got a box of their "famous" donuts and they were quite tasty. My son has a common name but spelled in a unique way and we were able to find him a key chain with it spelled how he spells it so that made him quite happy. For the most part, the stores sold the typical tourist stuff you find in any roadside tourist trap like this. I didn't really find anything unique that I could not live without. I'd recommend at least stopping to check it out. If anything, it gets you off the highway for a little bit.

Drove 10.5 hours to visit Wall Drug and it was closed. Not cool. The kids were stoked after seeing the 5000 signs on the way here, only to be disappointed. Don't go too far out of your way to visit this place.

The advertising that this store does along the way to Wall was the only thing that kept me sane while driving to Rapid City. The store itself has some of the coolest items. 100% recommend stopping here.

London, Paris, Rome, Tel Aviv, Milan, the beaches of Bali and its enchanted monkey forests, Kenyan safaris, the Aurora Borealis and dogsledding in the Northwest Territories of Canada and even the Copacobana Beach of Rio, and more. I've been to many incredible places on this planet and nothing lures me in like the Siren's song of The Wall Drug of South Dakota. The sights! The sounds! The beautiful majestic decor of the American West. I remember stopping here when I was a little kid on family vacations, so I have a deep fondness for Wall Drug. As an Iraq War veteran, I now get the free donut and coffee, which I greatly appreciate. Get yourself a free bumper sticker (one per family) slap it on your SUV and drive around your exurb with pride and make all the neighbors Green with jealousy. I'll be back one day. I'll sit on that bench with that lady of the evening, as I've done for what seems like decades now. Bring the kids...

This is a normal tourist trap. But traveling the United States and in this state there's nowhere else in the area for jobs. The local people need this place to survive. So yes, I stopped and bought some things to support them. If you're on a long drive and you like a $0.05 coffee this is the place for you. They have lots of little souvenirs and also give a free bumper sticker. Which I was surprised to get something for free. I bought lots of little gifts for family there. So stop on by and support the local people.

I understand why you will feel compelled to stop by this place, like we did. It's in the middle of no where, and you have heard about it. The place is a huge tourist trap. We had buffalo burgers, they were terrible. Worst meal we had on our trip to the black forest. They were clearly frozen patties, and bad ones at that. They sell a bunch of tourist stuff, but honestly, nothing that unusual. If you have kids, this place would be better.

This just shows the power of advertising. 300 miles of signs and we just had to stop. What a let down. It's a big gift shop with an overpriced cafe. We spent twice as much for burgers as we would have about anywhere else, and they were just ok at best. The doughnuts were the best part, but nothing spectacular.

I was there in May 2017 ending up a mission trip with my seminary. We stopped here and I spend more money than I anticipated, but I got a great Stetson hat and some cool jewelry and books. Definitely would recommend it for anyone that likes to visit SD.

There is so much hype about Wall Drug that we figured we were this far into South Dakota we had to stop. I guess that this just is not my thing. It is so far from anything that I want to do that while I can usually make any experience fun, I had a real hard time doing that.

I was amazed that they were able to fill up so much floor space with so many trinkets and nicknacks. We walked through many of the different rooms and I just found it overwhelming. I am sure it you can dream of it, it is probably somewhere in the store, just hope that you can find it.

Decided to get an ice cream and head back out onto highway 90. I got the Cherry Cheese cake and was underwhelmed with it as well. After eating it I had a weird film in my mouth that I had to break out the crackers from the car food bag to get rid of. If you want to say you did it, stop and see if it is for you. Next time I will just keep on moving down the highway.
