History
The history of Waldport Public Library dates back to 1949 when a group of local citizens formed the Waldport Women's Club with the goal of establishing a community library. They collected books from their own homes and donations from others in the community. In 1950 they opened their first location in an old schoolhouse.
Over time as more people moved into town it became clear that they needed more space so they moved into another building which was donated by one of its members. This building served as their home until 1985 when it was demolished due to structural issues.
In 1986 construction began on what would become today’s modern facility which opened its doors in May 1987 with over 10k square feet dedicated solely towards reading materials!

Waldport Public Library boasts an impressive collection of over 50k items including books (fiction & non-fiction), magazines (local & national), newspapers (local & regional), DVDs (movies & TV shows), audiobooks (CDs & MP3s) as well as digital resources such as e-books/e-audiobooks through Overdrive/Libby app.
