Great meals, pricey compared to different locations. Beautiful patio.

Awesome happy hour (get there early!) friendly service, patio seating great for people watching. Been going here for years. Sushi is great as are the limited number of Japanese dishes I have tried.
Food was excellent. Service is okay, but it can be better.. I had to call someone for everything like napkins, sauce, etc..
The food was fine. There was zero Covid tracing, and no social distancing between tables outside My beer glass had a broken handle and chipped more as I set it down. Unsure if I will be back.
Inari skin wasn't fresh, nor is the sushi in general. Vegetarian sushi options are small but alright.
My all-time favorite spot for sushi in the Minneapolis area! This restaurant never disappoints. And the house wine is great too.
Good sushi. Unfortunately, the music is disruptively loud. Not a good place to go if you want to have conversation. You'll have to yell at the top of your lungs.
Good sushi at a good price. I go here during the weekday for lunch and they always have a sushi happy hour going on.
Well done. Super tasty And appropriately priced sushi.
Excellent sushi and affordable happy hour pricing, but get there early as it fills up quickly! Great patio as well.
5 star based on chicken pad Thai, not like most pad Thai but the flavor was great! BMW and crazy monkey rolls were awesome!
Sushi is great and prices are fair. Definitely coming back.
Phenomenal sushi and rolls...one of our favorite spots! Fills up quickly for Happy Hour (especially the patio), so get there early.
Great atmosphere. Tempura and sushi are good but not great.
Delicious food abounds at Wakame- so long as you get fish. Both the sashimi and the sushi are made with precision and purpose that enhances the flavor experience. You won't find rolls that are mostly rice, or cuts of sashimi so thin you can see through. Portion sizes are appropriate so you can enjoy the food without feeling corpulent.
The atmosphere is subdued, with atmospheric lighting and darker decor. Can be good for groups or dates, though the layout seems a little awkward.
The items that aren't sushi are still good, but not as spectacular as the sushi, creating an odd contrast if you're not into fish.
Overall, Wakame is a fine choice if you're in the mood for sushi at a nice establishment.
The customer service is regularly fast, fantastic mood, welcoming employees. I will eat here again when I am here.
This is probably my favorite sushi spot in Minnesota. The baked green mussels are my favorite along with the spicy crab salad. The Thai Basil wings are meh, entrees are meh, I ve had better but the sushi here is amazing.
Great place. Always busy and makes amazing Sushi. The rolls are the best.
I put my name on the "call ahead" wait list while I was still at home. The wait list said 20-30 minutes wait. We live close and got there in about 15 minutes. When we arrived they said the wait was going to be 20-30 minutes more. Why offer the call ahead wait list if your name just goes to the bottom of the list when you show up at the restaurant?
When we finally got seated, our waitress let us know that if we wanted sushi, there would be a 30 minutes wait for sushi since they had lots of take-out orders to fill.
I will not be visiting this restaurant again on a Saturday night!
Generous portions, reasonable prices, and great staff
We love this place! It is often very busy so getting a table can be difficult but it is well worth the wait.
I have mixed emotions about this place. Because of that I am only able to give them 3 stars. Their sushi is GOOD. Before I eat here I would not have considered myself a sushi eater. Their happy hour specials are the greatest. However as far as management I m not sure- we had an incident where their waiter stole a phone of ours. After filing legally, the restaurant initially fired her. However on a recent visit, I see that they have re-employed her. Which leaves me uneasy as to why they would hire an employee who is known to steal patrons items. For that reason, I cannot give them 5 stars.
I ve been here twice, once for lunch and once for late night happy hour. During lunch it was very empty and quiet. Food was decent and lunch special was an ok deal. When I went for happy hour at 10 pm this place was packed, loud music, dim lighting. It s a very fun atmosphere and the happy hour deals were great!
Sweet heart roll and the roll with with the king crag.....is the bees knees...quoting the super adorable bartender...tito's/sake/cucumber martini...all was too perfect. Can not wait to go back and eat twice as much.
Good idea to have reservations on a weekend during the summer. The patio is highly enjoyable.
Service was good, food was a bit slow but the server was very honest about the time expectation so it was totally tolerable.
Sushi was amazing.
It has the best happy hour sushi! Tasted good, nice hip atmosphere and friendly staff. I loved it! Will definitely be visiting again! I highly recommend!
I am not one to write reviews but can't shake this one off... DRUNK MANAGEMENT. Took the wife out for our first Wakame date. Erica was our server/manager. She was clearly drunk and smelt of booze. We had questions on the menu and she would always reply with "I love this place, I eat here all the time!" Upon looking for a better server who could answer our questions she then let us know that was the manager for the night. The food we got was delicious but the service ruined our experience.
Food was great, a tasty sauce on my noodle dish. My wife's sushi came out 20 minutes after my dish though, which wasn't enjoyable.
Hot girls and good sushi. What else could you want?
Probably my favorite sushi place in town. They have happy hour on food during lunch! The crazy monkey roll is delicious.
Good sushi and drinks with great happy hour. The music was a little informal for the nice vibe of the place is all.
Google page says open til 10, their website says open until 930. I got here at a little after 9 and was told they were closed. Not happy as I had to drive pretty far to get here.
Amazing, as usual. Nice to know you can go here and expect a good experience. Can't wait until next time!
Best sushi in the Twin Cities area! They have a nice atmosphere, outdoor seating, friendly staff and a great happy hour.
Nice place, good sushi, good prices, great service!
Love this place always the best sushi. Great happy hour. Great service..
Very fresh sushi at affordable prices during happy hour.
I called to make reservations and still had to wait longer than 30 mins. I wouldn't have waited if it wasn't for love for sushi.
Good food and good prices
One of the best sushi restaurants in Minneapolis, in my opinion. Great rolls, a full bar and awesome service. Love the outdoor patio and convenient parking.
It's expensive, but really tasty! The minnesota roll was great.
Ordered over the phone at 5:30 was told it would be ready between 6:45-7pm because they re busy. Understood that - got there at 6:50 to pick up my sushi and here I still sit at 8pm with no sushi. I ve called 3 times with them telling me I was on top and will be completed next one hour later still on top with no food. Terrible service and they have no remorse whatsoever
Absolutely phenomenal cocktails, great service and amazing food. We had a great experience here!
Had the sushi lunch there. While the presentation needs some work and finesse, the quality of the fish was good, and they had a nice variety of fish options.
Beautiful place, delicious food, come here next time, the people here are very good
Top notch sushi, sashimi, and rolls. Wakame has been filled with friendly patrons and staff every time we've been, and always with a vibrant atmosphere! A great option for first timers as well as sushi lovers.
Typically I love this place. However today was subpar. I came here with friends and one friend that we hadn t seen in a really long time. The owner is usually here walking around and SO friendly. Our server was Josh, he wasn t really friendly. This is so different than what we are used to here. We asked a lady on the patio to take a picture. She looked at me, rolled her eyes, and snarled I ll be back I politely replied Don t worry about it . We brought our friend here because we love this place and usually our waitresses are SO nice. We rant and rave about the service! Kinda sad about this. Don t be in customer service if that s not what you re about. It s really really simple.
The food was absolutely amazing, will be back again soon. Awesome staff
Best cheese wantons I've ever had. Nice HH. Good food. Dog friendly patio. Been here about 10 times.
The food was very good. I got the Monkey Rolls. They were the best sushi ive ever eaten
I never ever leave bad reviews but I have so many things to say about this place. Firstly, we had a reservation at 7pm for 12 people. After waiting 30 minutes, we were finally seated. However, the table was only set for 8 as the other table that they were going to use still had customers at it. This would be understandable if it was still 7 or if we had not made a reservation. Then, it took another 30 minutes to get our order in and 40 minutes after that to get food. By the time we left the other table still had not been prepared for us. The food was good but you get very little for your price.
Wakame is by far our favorite place for sushi. The sushi is delicious and fresh. We really like the happy hour prices for sushi and drinks. The staff is always friendly and quick. George, the Owner, seems to always be around making sure everything is going great and helping out his staff. Great place with a great atmosphere. The outdoor patio is nice too.
SO happy my favorite sushi restaurant is doing well during these unprecedented times. The vibe and food here is one that is hard to match. Can t wait to make another visit soon. George, the owner is such a nice guy and really puts his heart into his restaurants. The sushi rolls are definitely my favorite here, but in case you don t like sushi, they have plenty of dishes you might really like.
We go here quite often. Either me and the lady or a group of more. We always order quite a bit of sushi. It's a good staple to stand by, and they have very reasonable prices for happy hour. I most recommend the mango tuna roll and the warrior sake flight.
I'm starting to get addicted to the sushi from this place. I tried a few other restaurants and none of them match up to wakame. I'm no sushi expert but this has to be some of the best in the metro.
By far the best sushi spot I have ever been to. The menu and quality food will speak to the priciness. The reason why this is getting 3 stars is because when I went to the bathroom I saw kitchen staff walk straight out of the restroom stall without washing his hands. This is disturbing.
Chill, welcoming atmosphere, and a good happy hour. Fresh fish, indeed, and knowledgeable bar staff.
This is our go to sushi place. The food is always consistent and the happy hour specials are pretty good. You might have to wait for a table and sometimes the sushi counter gets backed up but its worth the wait.
Horrible service. They told me that an order of veggie fried rice and chicken katsu would take 30 minutes. I thought that was ridiculous, but I let it go. I showed up 38 minutes later and they told me that the chef was just now making my chicken. I waited 46 minutes for my food, and when I asked, I was given attitude. The ladies at the front were terribly rude and disrespectful. I watched White and Asian customers get smiles and proper customer service, while I was pushed to a corner like I didn't matter. I just got my food, 51 minutes later. I will never again be returning.
That kind of service is just not worth the wait.
As for the food, the fried rice was flavorless and the tonkatsu sauce was pretty much just ketchup. The entire experience was an absolute disappointment.
In conclusion, avoid this place if you prefer food with flavor and adequate service, especially if you're Black/Muslim.
Very good quality fish and delicious sushi. Make sure u have reservation ortherwise you might need to wait. Very decent price for the quality they offer
It's busy here, I mean really busy here especially after work hours. But the food is worth it. Tons of options with the happy hour menu having some great deals on rolls. Overall very enjoyable experience
My husband and I have been eating here for seven years and it's still our favorite sushi restaurant in the Twin Cities! The fish is always fresh, the specialty rolls are very well crafted, and they have an awesome happy hour. Their staff is wonderful and they always give excellent service!
Need I say more! Great reputation, great service, all that you want in an uptown restaurant!
Absolutely wonderful little hidden gem. Call ahead since it is always packed.
This place serves some really very delicious Sushi and Asian food. The best part is that they also
have vegan and vegetarian Sushi! The service is very good and the ambiance is also very good. The prices are a little on the higher side. They can get really busy at times, wait times of hours. So, if you are planning to go there, make sure you have plenty of time or make reservations before you go.
The only bad part is that the food taste can sometimes vary a lot depending on how busy they are, which is something they really need to work on!
This is the best place in town for sushi. I have consistently received amazing service, friendly staff', and never leave hungry. This is my go-to for a satisfying sushi experience. Keep doing what you are doing,! Yums.
The food is great, and the portions are large! All for a reasonable price. The staff did a great job accommodating us, even though it was a very busy Friday night with a line out the door.
Good was delicious, service was phenomenal, everything absolutely on par with what a great restaurant should be. Took my woman out to MSP for a bday trip and was impressed. We will be back next visit up.
This is my favorite sushi place in the twin cities! As a vegetarian, it's hard to find good veggie options, but here I can find delicious and colorful veggie rolls!! The place can get crowded, so try to make reservations or arrive early!
