Vista Taos saved my life. It's hard to put into words the kindness, compassion and sincerity that everyone who works there has, and the overall spiritual experience that Vista offers. I know I would not be here today if it weren't for all the amazing people I had the opportunity to meet at Vista Taos. Vista Taos taught me gratitude, humility, and that there is a great big world out there outside of chemical dependence.

Vista Taos was the miracle I so desperately needed. When I found myself lost, hopeless and felt my life had no purpose, the program and the staff at Vista saved my life. All the staff are in recovery which enabled them to truly understand the depth of pain in which I had been, and to give examples in their own life from which I could learn. The intimacy of the program not only addressed my addiction, but also the reasons I had turned to using substances; the root of my problems. Vista gave me the tools I needed to rise above my addiction and continue on in my health and recovery once I left the facility. From morning meditations to housing to food, Vista soars above other facilities of it s kind. I highly recommend Vista-set aside any fears and prepare for healing!!
I work with some of the staff at Vista Taos on a regular basis and they are great! They truly care about the clients that come through the program and understand that they are saving lives! They have a world of experience with addiction and know how to walk clients and their families through the challenging time of addiction recovery! To express gratitude and live a life of sobriety is something that was given to me through the Vista Taos/Casa recovery program. Being a client at Vista you are treated earily similar to an animal or a prisoner. When it comes down to it you will be pushed out for someone who has better insurance or more money.
I am employed by Vista Taos Renewal Center as Medical Director. Generally, everyone calls me Dr Bobby. I have worked in the addiction field for almost 40 years. Initially I was an addiction counselor, but for the the past 20+ years I have worked as an addiction psychiatrist. Originally from Georgia, I was asked to come to Vista Taos Renewal Center in order to help establish one of the few abstinence based addiction programs in the Southwest. Over the past 2 years I have witnessed the development of a truly remarkable facility and staff. The quality and effectiveness of a program depends entirely on the belief system of those providing the care. Not only therapists, nurses or assistants but housekeeping, dietary, administration, from top to bottom this staff is committed to the care and healing of those struggling with alcoholism and related drug addictions. This is not only one of the most beautiful areas I have ever seen but Vista Taos is also extremely special in what it offers. I am very gratified to be a small part in this incredible experience. This was the most spiritual experience I have had. Vista Taos helped save my life. It was a very beautiful, structured and safe environment. The RA s are beautiful souls that have helped me tremendously, they were always there to listen at such a vulnerable time. Clinical had unique and very effective ways of providing tools needed for recovery. Administration was so very kind and went out of there way multiple times for me and I ll be forever grateful for that. The Doctor there literally helped me make it through the worst two weeks of my life. The chef cooked from a place of love and I needed that. I could go on and on about the healing that I had there. I thank God daily for taking me to a place where I needed to be. I trust Vista Taos and trusting is not something that comes naturally to me. Vista was the beginning of my journey and with their help, I am almost 8 months clean and sober. Thanks Vista!!!!!
I went to Vista Taos in June of this year. This was my 2nd time doing an inpatient treatment program for alcoholism. I was immediately welcomed and felt part of a family. Everyone from the staff to the other clients were kind and sensitive and I felt immediately comfortable. I got so much out of Vistas program. They really understand addiction and most of the staff that works there are in recovery themselves, which for me made a huge difference. The classes were informative and helpful. The food was delicious. Especially with Covid19 it was wonderful to have contact with others on a daily basis. When I drank I stayed completely isolated in my house. I would highly recommend Vista Taos to anyone looking for a treatment center. The scenery is amazing and peaceful. They also took us on outings twice a week to get out and see nature. They counselors really understand addiction and what it takes to get sober. They also have sober living for after the treatment if you want or need the extra time. Although I have a long road ahead of me I m happy to report I m still sober and this is because of Vista Taos.
If your asking if this will work for you, maybe, definitely if you work with it! Its worked for me and a quite a few people I consider friends now. We were all hard cases, some very young and some much older. The reality is you have to want it, but the folks at Vista can help you if you let them and you want to help yourself. Is it expensive, yes. Is everything perfect, no. My family and I looked into different programs throughout the SW and this was by far the best. Get your freedom back. Live.
