Clean, well run, many Covid precautions. I want to send my business here. Update 6/21 - Virtex built 1000 full assemblies including PCA, programming and test, sonic welding of the chassis, plus inspection. All perfect and a positive experience.

This place is very unorganized and they will work you like a slave you will work 12 hour days Mon-Fri and work on Saturdays. They only pay 11 dollars a hour, if you become permanent you will not get a raise. I know someone that has been working there for 10 years and they still get paid 11 dollars an hour.

This place is a great foot in the door, entry level jobs available to people through temp agency's. Alot of hours available and the work is repedative but very easy to get a grasp on. Great for people looking for work who don't mind applying themselves. Would not recommend it for someone who is lazy or doesn't like too work.

My experience pertains to working mostly in one area of this little place called VirTex in Austin. Management started me off by placing me with trainers who spoke seldom English which made it difficult to ask questions. They put you in an area to start on a very repetitive task. You're given a 45 min lunch and a 15 min break. I quickly learned that the place has high turnover. In my short time working there(2 months), I saw various new employees come and go. It seemed to be their choice to stop. The pay is low for this kind of work, 11.50 starting. It's an easy job but I've worked easier jobs paying 13.50. It also seemed like management didn't always know what was going on. They say one thing and then it's totally different the next day.

After a few weeks, VirTex hired this uneducated 19 year old. Right away you could hear this guy running his mouth. He'd be saying things about people who weren't around. I tried to get along professionally with him. He made some jokes toward a Muslim coworker and the Muslim man was offended. I thought for jokes, they sounded racist. Management was informed and I guess they gave him a warning. Eventually we were joking around a few of us. He ends up targeting a joke toward me that was extremely inapporpriate and offensive.

He knew it upset me and after that I only spoke to him about work. He kept nagging asking why are you mad? I told him I wasn't interested in talking. It got to the point where he didn't like me ignoring him. He thought maybe I'd want to fight him. He started seriously implying that he wanted to fight after work, and then saying he didn't care to lose his job and he'd fight right there. I ignored his implications and kept working. He kept babbling on, throwing insults my way.

Finally, the older Muslim man noticed I was upset. We informed our supervisor about the situation. He seemed to take it serious and said that the 19 year old had multiple incidents, including harassing female coworkers. It sounded as if it was the last straw and he would be terminated.

Nope. I continued to see the coworker my last few weeks. I even saw my supervisor joking around with him like they were friends. After telling my boss what he'd done. So the message was clear that this is a workplace that tolerates racism, bullying, and harassment. They do not enforce any consequences. They vaguely mention harassment in the handbook because they have to.

Summary:

VirTex is a mismanaged company. Low wage for the work. Employees are replaceable. No official training. repetitive work. Company allows racism, bullying, and harassment. If this sounds like a nice place to you, send in your application.

I'm posting reviews so hopefully upper management will come across this and actually take action. Also to help people interested in applying. Don't waste your time. There are much better jobs.
