Loved it!!! Never been to a museum alone but I must say this place kept me intrigued! Went to the Dirty South exhibit and was blown away. Was impressed with the interactive music exhibit. The short film was moving and had a powerful message. Definitely coming back!

Absolutely worth the visit. Beautiful and amazing. So much to see.
Myself and my kids aged 3 to 7 were fully entertained. We were especially amazed to see the Nikolav family collection.
The outside area is beautiful as well.
The free admission is amazing too!

What a treat! Great selection of different types of art, there s definitely something for everyone here. The garden is delightful, very calm, there are some tables for people wanting to work. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. I recommend leaving any big or heavy bags at the coat room for free, as the staff will ask you to carry them in front of you if you do not. A must-see.

An absolutely BEAUTIFUL museum with amazing art and more! I recently went to see the ' Dirty South' exhibit and it was so cool. They really put allot of thought into creating this and I truly enjoyed it. Not to mention the museum and it's grounds are absolutely beautiful alone. I've been wanting to visit the VMFA for quite some time, and I'm so glad I finally have. I believe I'll be joining as a member now and next visit I'll have to dine upstairs in 'Amuse' for sure.

$$$ (if you dine as well)

One of the finest and broadest collections I've seen outside what might be considered a "major" city. Noted for its collection of Faberge - the largest outside of Russia - I was also blown away by the Art Deco and Art Noveau collections, and the breadth of the collections in general. From a tiny but in-depth collection of Ethiopian Orthodox art to South and East Asian sculpture to native art of both North and South America, I was blown away. (The cafe was quite good as well.) Well worth a trip at the cost - free!

Great museum! I really liked spending time there. But unfortunately, I only had an hour this time. Security guards were polite unlike some of the ones at DC museums. Parking is free if you parallel park in front of the museum on weekends. But if you can t find parking spots at the front, you will have to pay $6 to park at the museum parking deck.

Definitely worth the visit. Some exhibits lacked labeling making it a little curious to how the effort had been made to install but not label the installation? Well spaced exhibits gave plenty of room for guest to enjoy without feeling rush. Very pleasant outdoor spaces.

This place is huge! I'd recommend budgeting 4-6 hours to see everything; we spent 3 hours here and are going to have to come back sometime to get to the American and South Asian exhibits! We also couldn't find a handheld pamphlet with a map inside, so we meandered and tried to keep it chronological.

Super diverse art selection, there's a lot of everything. The African art portion blew my mind.

Our family had a great time at this wonderful museum! It is a great way to spend 2-3 hours perusing famous fine art (including some priceless Faberge pieces!) In a cool, comfortable setting that gives you plenty to view and enjoy without tiring you out! Their garden sculptures are also great and so is their cafe!

Most importantly, all of if is ABSOLUTELY FREE.
