The care I received at Virgin Islands Ear, Nose & Throat was average. The doctors were competent, but there was nothing exceptional about the experience. The staff was friendly, but the wait times were a bit long. Overall, it was a satisfactory visit, but not remarkable.

I arrived for my vaccine along with my husband today. After receiving my vaccine, I was told by Dr Shapiro to wait fifteen minutes and leave, I asked did I need to notify anyone before leaving, he replied. Well that was incorrect. Later, after asking about next appointment date, I found out I needed to receive a Vaccine Record card. This was not a big issue, the real issue was the young lady responsible for giving out the cards. Thirty minutes after shot, I still had not received my card. When I went inquire about the card, she ignored me, than when I knocked on the glass divider, she became enraged. She had a very nasty attitude. She is the wrong person for a front desk person. Not customer service focused. Everyone else seems very professional.
Dr. Shapiro is an excellent doctor. I saw him because of my blocked nasal passage. He was very informative, thorough, helpful, patient and friendly. I found out my septum is deviated, which is usually corrected by surgery. He instead suggested a less invasive in-office procedure first and to go from there. It s been a month and the procedure has helped tremendously. I can breathe so much better!
I had a follow up appointment at 11:45 AM today for my ear. I have had an ear infection and trouble hearing. When I arrived, I called the office as instructed. The woman at the front desk told me to stay in my car and that I would receive a call when I can come up. I received the call at 12:20. The doctor didn t see me until 1:00, at which point he video conferenced into the room to discuss options. He told me I needed to get an audio exam that day. I waited until 2:00 for that exam. Afterwards, I was told to go wait in the waiting room. Then I was told to go back into one of the exam rooms to be seen. I waited until 3:00 before getting up and leaving. I went to the front desk and told them that I had been waiting since 11:45 and it was now 3:00. It was obvious that the doctor was not going to see me again. I asked to check out and pay. Not a single person at the front desk went to check where the doctor was. They asked me how much I needed to pay for the visit. I told them $150.
So now it is 3:30 and I have wasted an entire day at this doctor s office. I do not know if I need to get tubes in my ear or steroids. No one could give me the professional courtesy of keeping me informed as to when the doctor would be with me or why it was taking such an incredible amount of time.
Every time I go to this office, I have to spend 2-3 hours just waiting to be seen. If the doctors are unable to see patients, the least they could do is have us reschedule. I find this office s scheduling to be incredibly unprofessional.
