I've been taking my two dogs here for about two years now. It's a little out of the way from where I live, but you do what you gotta do to get the best care for your pups. I originally checked it out because they had great reviews on Yelp, and I definitely agree with every great thing I read! The staff at this clinic is so wonderful, they always are so welcoming and friendly. My pup began having some stomach issues with the food she had eaten all her life, so the doctor suggested we switch her to a brand with a different mix and she has had no issues since.

Love this place!
Love Dr. Malik.

Called on Saturday October 20, 2018 around 2pm with an emergency situation. I was given the number of a Dr Hanna for a home visit. Called and left a detailed message. My cat has now passed and no call back from Dr Hanna. Customer service is something that is sorely lacking in today's society. I don't care if I can't get customer service buying shoes. I'll use Amazon. But a vet should return phone calls. Very disappointed.

I have taken my dog Rocky to Dr. Malik his whole life. Three times he moved across the city and three times I followed him to his new location even though it was an hour drive from where I live. Dr. Malik provided Rocky with exceptional care through various health issues and I credit him with Rocky living 15+ years. He is a very knowledgeable doctor who explains things to you in a manner that is easy to understand . He is also very compassionate and went above and beyond providing comfort and reassurance to our family anytime we called him. The office has the newest therapies and cutting edge technology available to them. Dr. Malik has many certifications and is always up-to-date on the latest in Veterinary care. I would recommend Dr Malik 100 times over to anyone who is looking for the utmost best for their four-legged family member.

Went to this clinic mistakenly thinking it was the 404 clinic, which it was 10 years ago when i last needed emergency vet service.
I was very clear to the receptionist Of what clinic i thought i was at and the dr i knew from the clinic. They did not correct me and took in my dog in the worst case of professional misconduct I have ever seen.
almost $4,000 and 12 hours later I removed my dog with not 1 clear answer to what was wrong with her and having spent everything I had to try and find her relief and answers I was now left in the awful position of choosing between money and my beautiful girl because of their negligence.
My home Vet and the other emergency vet clinic both advised me this clinic charged me double for each and every service, charged me for services not provided, and they have agreed to support my pursuit of a claim against this clinic with a complaint to the Veterinary College of Ontario.

My 2 year old French Bulldog, Riley, was brought to this clinic on a Sunday morning for sudden pain and discomfort. Right from the start the staff was friendly, approachable, and empathetic. They listened to my husband and I and treated us and our dog with respect. The doctor was very thorough in his examination (blood test, ultra sound & x-rays). Turns out my dog had pancreatitis and was required to stay for a few days. The staff provided us with regular updates and very nicely tolerated all the check-in calls made by my family and ithroughout the day and night. The discharge plan was very organized and easy to follow. In addition, the staff were diligent in providing all reports to Riley's regular vet.
The staff went above and beyond in their efforts. I would definitely recommend this clinic to others and would confidently bring my dog back if needed.

Dr. Ehab Malik is the best veterinarian I've ever encountered in my life. Not only is he extremely educated and knowledgeable but he continues to learn and constantly wants to be better every day. He is truly caring and sympathetic, and absolutely loves animals and has a true passion for what he does.
He has helped me with 4 different pets over the years.
I have always strongly recommended Dr. Malik and his team to everyone and anyone and will continue to do so and take my furbabies to him for as long as I can.

Thank You so much for everything you and your team have ever done.

Horrible service. I regret I didn't check all the previous reviews before we brought our dog, as it's an urgent situation, totally slipped my mind we should have checked first. Basically, most of the below previous negative comments are true (very money oriented; uncaring; took our dog in and completely no updates at all after almost 3 hours for a minor injury despite we tried to call to check in 2 times; asked us for our dogs history twice that they didn't even know somebody already called to ask; put us on hold when we called and said let them check, then call dropped and never called us back, very unorganized; our dog came out very distressed, we have never seen him showed this much distressed signs even when we brought him for surgery before or any other VET visit, so we know it was not likely because he was in a new environment). I strongly recommend to check all previous reviews before you go.

After 3.5 hours, with all the above negligence, we did not feel comfortable and safe to continue to leave our dog there anymore when they could not even see him after 3+ hours, so we decided to bring him home (because it is not a major injury, we only went because he's very old so want to be safe). We rather waste the $110 consultation fee for nothing than putting our dog in an environment we did not see the professionalism and caring communication. When we requested to pick up our dog as we could not go in because of covid, they told us "he is not ready to be released" twice that made it sounds like they were in the middle of treatment, in fact, we verified and asked so has our dog been seen after 3+ hours and they said no.

We have 3 dogs, 2 are rescues, 1 has major medical issues, so we are always in and out VET, specialists, and emergency services. We have never encountered a negative and unprofessional service like this clinic.

To be fair, this is our first and only time there, it is only our personal experience, we cannot speak for everyone. As a dog parent, we just want to share our own experience as a reference for others dog parents about this clinic.

Veterinary Emergency, Urgent Care & Emergency Clinic of York Region: you do not need to reply my review with the general standard replies you provided to below negative reviews (I.e., you do not have my name on your file - as normal people can understand the family memeber leaving a review may not be the primary family member contact on your file, which is in our case here; or please contact our clinic directly if we have any concerns or questions, as we, and I believe most people voiced out and shared their concerns with you during our visit already, where we do not feel it was not taken seriously hence we leave a review). Thank you for your service and taking the time to read this review, we understand no service can be the best nor perfect, we hope you will consider all the repeated similar negative comments and able to make an improvement, so there are more good services for our dogs community.

Worst vet I ve ever been to, all he cares about is...

Worst vet I ve ever been to, all he cares about is money. I took my dog there that very clearly had something in his throat and all he did was latch on to the word cough. Told me his lungs sounded clear and fine, then told us we needed X-rays to see if he had pneumonia. As well as wanting to do blood work on top of sedating him and scoping his throat. We wanted to go ahead with the sedation and scope without the X-rays and blood, but when we said that the vet got extremely angry and aggressive with us and said we can refuse to do whatever we want and we could take our dog wherever we wanted as well. Refused to do anything further when I wouldn t agree to do unnecessary testing and even lied to me to try to convince me to do it. Super unprofessional and least compassionate animal caregiver I have ever seen. For our $110 fee that was required to be paid prior to going in the clinic, he told me he was drooling a lot (Bernese/great Pyrenees cross, of course!) and he had an increased heart rate (he is nervous of men and didn t want to go in the clinic to start with). Thanks for taking my money and telling me things I already knew.

The receptionist was the only breath of fresh air at this clinic. She was extremely sweet and seemed to care about the well-being of our dog (heard him hacking on the phone). The girl that did our triage info on the other hand was terrible, put me on hold twice, didn t listen and totally mixed up everything I said.

If I could give this clinic and experience a 0 I would.

Do NOT take your animal here!!!

Do NOT take your animal here!!!
Price gouging at its finest.

My dog got a piece of plastic stuck in between her teeth and I couldn't get it out. The other 24hr emergency vet clinic was involved in an emergency surgery and could not say when they could see her so I brought her here.

I found, other than the receptionist, everyone I spoke to was extremely rude. $110 examination fee? That's fine and to be expected at an emergency vet. But it has to be paid before my dog comes in the door so they're already planning on charging my credit card twice. A little odd, but my dog is uncomfortable and everybody has different rules.

So they take my dog in and 5 minutes later the vet calls me and tells me he can't examine her and she'll have to be sedated. Again, to be expected. I've been trying to get the thing out with tweezers for awhile and she's not happy. So then he calls back again with my estimate. $1500 for x-rays and blood work and sedation, an iv, a catheter and someone to stay with her while she's sedated. When I suggested that all she needed was a mild sedative and someone to pull the plastic out I was asked about my medical background.

Needless to say, I declined treatment and took my dog home. On the way out the receptionist brought my dog out to the vestibule and let her loose instead of putting her on the leash provided. And then tells me her tongue is blue and she needs immediate attention.

I took her this morning to the other emergency vet in town. They quoted me between $400-500 if she needed sedation. It took them less than 10 seconds to pull out the plastic. They examined her mouth and observed her for 10 minutes and sent her home. No charge.

You won't find a record of my visit in your files because your receptionist spelt my name wrong. And your vet was determined my dog was male. However, if you look under Lisa Wardrove and Topz, a spayed female husky, I'm sure you'll find it

We did not have a good experience with this vet. First off, they badly overcharge patients; just to take our dog and get him checked out was more expensive than any place I've been. Also, to run a few tests the vet wanted to charge us around $2000. After telling us the tests were 'needed', we declined and decided to take our pup to his regular vet in a couple days (luckily he was okay, even though we knew he would be but wanted to double check). He gave our puppy back stinky and uncleaned (due to stuffing thermometer up his bum) and not cleaning his backside after! They also make you feel bad and try to convince that you the proposed service needed on your pet is 'do or die' and that he/she might not survive without it. Not cool at all and taking advantage of people in an already scary situation. Super disappointed when all we really needed was some peace of mind. Do better Newmarket Vet Emerg.

We had a small dog growing more and more agitated with a foot or back injury. There was no other clients in this place except my wife and I. The woman at the desk had me fill out a form and the vet tech took the dogs pulse and temperature. Than the waiting started. Our dogs discomfort continued to worsen and we asked if he could at least be sedated. Twice we were told the vet would be in shortly. When my dog started yelping I again approached the desk to find the vet occupied with other business on the computer. When I relayed the condition of my dog, she was now the one who became agitated, told me to be patient and to put the dog on the floor so he can move around, which I though was odd advice considering she had not even examined the dog and had no clue of his injury. No urgent care in this place - Take your pet anywhere else.

I purchased a Nylabone (Two Pack) for my Jack Rusell Terrier, as it stated it was edible right on the packaging. My dog ate the bone within LESS THAN 5 MINUTES! While surprised, I decided to read the back of the instructions and it said "the product is not intended to consumed, please contact your veterinarian immediately". So I took him to the vet immediately as it concerned me. The vet was also confused about this product! We came to the conclusion that the right side Nylabone (2 in one package) was edible and the other one isn't. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH NYLABONE PACKAGING! The vet was kind, friendly and very helpful. I'd highly recommend this clinic if you have an emergency!

Late last Sunday night, our little dog needed emergency care so we rushed her in here. They took her in immediately, prepared her for a surgery procedure and kept her overnight. I was sick with worry and they offered to call me at home when she woke from the anesthesia. The phone rang around midnight and the Dr. took his time to reassure me that she was doing ok. Yes, emergency vet service is more expensive, but was available when I REALLY needed it and I am so appreciative of the care we experienced here. All staff were very caring and supportive.

If your dog is in real trouble, Dr. Malik is who you should see. I like that he cared about our teacup Maltese, Ruby who in her first year blew out both of her knees at different times. He couldn t have been more careful advising us to see a specialist who did magic with Ruby who is running around again. Couldn t be happier with my vets performance. I love my dog and am hooked on Dr.Malik.

I met Dr. Malik in 2015 when I had rescued a very ill dog that was pregnant, and whose prognosis was very grim. Dr. Malik worked late into the evening to save that dogs life and the life of her unborn puppy. Those two dogs are happy and healthy today because of him! This past week, I urgently needed care for my chihuahua who was struggling to breathe, and my regular vet was not able to see her. When I arrived at this clinic, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Dr. Malik would be attending to my girl. I knew she would be in amazing hands with him. The diagnostics were not cheap as veterinary care isn't (it just isn't, we all know that), my girl underwent several tests in order to diagnose what was wrong. She has aspiration pneumonia. Dr. Malik and his staff were attentive, thorough, very caring, and took the time to explain everything to me. Dr. Malik will be my veterinarian moving forward - he is an outstanding vet, who truly cares about the well being of our pets. Dr. Malik, I am so grateful our paths have crossed once again! Thank you for being dedicated to your profession, and those you serve.
