WARNING VELDA BOXSPRING short life. High cost!!
WARNING VELDA BOXSPRING short life. High cost!!
After just 4 years, the construction of the drive motor for the electric adjustment of our Velda Physio Boxspring simply broke (straight in half). Initially, we reported this through our trusted furniture store / sleep specialist.
The simple answer from Velda via the furniture store was that this is far beyond the warranty. From a Velda box spring of ~ 4500 euros, you expect an overall expected lifespan of more than 4 years.
It is clearly a construction error and in such a case you expect that the producer but also the dealer who represents the producer stands behind his product.
Velda bedding itself says: "Velda Bedding is a Belgian family business that stands for top quality sleeping systems, distributed by sleep specialists throughout Europe."
In this case, Velda Bedding does not live up to this. Also the notification that we received that the original part is no longer in stock after 4 years and it was also passed on that the dismantling of this engine construction is a well-known complaint.
In our opinion, this indicates that Velda bedding has replaced these engines with another model in the short term. But Velda is shifting the costs of this shortage to its customers.
You expected more leniency from a so-called top quality brand in case such a thing happens.
You buy a so-called top brand box spring. But the impression that Velda now leaves is that you actually get rubbish from the Far East instead of Belgian top quality.
The total costs of the repair, part + front cost + man hours, are easily over 400 euros. This is quite a hefty amount.
Also bearing in mind that the same thing could probably happen to the other engine any time. Then the costs quickly rise to 800 euros or more.
Not repairing this problem, caused by a construction error, of a Velda box spring at the beginning of its lifespan is actually a shame. But yeah....
EXTRA REMARK:
Veldeman gives the impression through reviews and social media that they greatly value customer satisfaction and are looking for a solution with the customer in the response. This late response is also received in a review. But after that it remains quiet again. You have to send multiple emails and contact yourself by telephone. After weeks there has indeed been a reaction with the announcement that engines simply fail and can break down. Certainly the latter remains, in my opinion, a construction and production error. Veldeman also indicated once again that the box spring is also four years old. Veldeman apparently only guarantees this and behind their product during the legal 2-year warranty. And they appeal to that. You expect a longer lifespan from a quality brand. But unfortunately ....
The end of the story is, as mentioned in the title, after a few years you can be faced with high costs with a Veldeman Boxspring.
So be warned when you buy a Velda product.
