This was a great educational experience. I visited as a child years ago and got to visit again as an adult and really absorb the information. I didn't need tickets to go and the line wasn't too long. My only wish is that when crowded, they didn't allow too many in at a time. I felt rushed by others who were trying to go through quickly. Other than that, I highly recommend this museum.

While I understand this has to be a thing, it is obvious from the first room that they have a message they want you to understand. It's a good message, but the way they try to force it so hard on you almost feels oppressive

Excellent exhibition and educational experience of the horrors of the holocaust. Provides a thorough and emotional experience that covers all aspects of leading up to, through, and after this historical event. I believe the tickets are around $15ish but free for military, first responders and a few other select groups.

I've always wanted to visit a Holocaust memorial and this was totally worth it. Very moving and reality will hit you hard. There is a proper 12hr content available in the museum, but be mindful of the intensity of the text and images.

Chilling experience.

Chilling experience.
The story of the Holocaust is told integrally and with great, albeit graphic, detail.
As you move through the venue, you experience the chronology of the events from the rise of the Nazi to power in Germany to Hitler's "final solution", with the added perspective of the American reaction.
The mock-up of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp is especially impactful, where a scale model shows the gassing process and screens show videos of the scientific experimentation that took place on detained Jews.
You will definitely leave it changed.

This is the one place in DC that I felt I had to visit. The docents were very helpful in helping us choose what exhibits were right for our family. We took our two oldest son's with us to let them see first hand the plight of the Jews in WWII. One thing that caught me off guard was the great pains that our government took to keep Jews out of the US. We turned a blind eye amidst reports of the genocide being committed and used bureaucratic means (complex paperwork and applications) to limit the migration of Jews to well below the legal limits. It is apparent that our current government is using the same practices today much to the shame of our country.

Unbelievable experience. I think everyone should go at least once in their life. Expect to spend 2 to 3 hours on the main exhibit. Very well done, and they do a really good job with crowd control. Tickets are free

Visiting this museum was one of the most profound experiences of my life. I cannot recommend enough that you visit here when you are in Washington DC. You will come away from the experience with a sobering realization of the capacity for humans to treat each other with utter distain and astounding compassion.

Place to remember and reflect on the holocaust.

Place to remember and reflect on the holocaust.

Like all facilities dedicated to this theme, security is more reinforced in this museum than the others around it.

Keep this in mind when scheduling this tour, not taking excess bags and accessories, as it can cause embarrassment in the magazine.

Incredible. When you enter, ask for information about the ticket for the museum inside the museum, they take you by an elevator to the holocaust exhibition. Your skin bristles when you see all that man is capable of doing

I expected to be emotionally overwhelmed, but after awhile, the sheer, relentless unending depressing intensity of the sad, sad stories became mind-numbing. Significant and well put together exhibits, worth experiencing.

If you have never been to a Holocaust museum, you must go. It is so sad how the human race is able to treat one another. It will give you an understanding of what the Jewish people endured. So sad, it's my 3rd Holocaust museum and I recommend it.

Very heart-wrenching and informative. Some areas are pretty graphic (as well as the overall gruesome lack of humanity), so if you are bringing children, you will have to use your own discretion as far as what kind of conversations to have before and after your visit. Even as an adult, there were things that I learned about at this museum that I was unaware of and that horrified me.

Incredible experience. Devote a full day, you will want to see every part of this! Also, they have military tickets for the tours- free of charge. Just ask an employee and they will direct you.

Be aware of your surroundings because this exhibit is the most thought out museum that I have visited in DC, actually anywhere. Whomever but the thought and effort to the pathway and story this historical event tells deserves an award or recognition. Bravo!

One of the must see s in DC. This won t cheer you up. It won t make you feel good. But especially if you ve no clue about the history of Holocaust you *need* to go see this and make sure it never happens again.

Incredibly emotional place to visit. Cried twice on my visit, and I'm no crier. Need a full day to experience this "journey" through one the worst atrocities in human history. I would certainly recommend it to any history lover who doesn't mind an emotional rollercoaster. You will feel every range of emotion we have as human beings.

I guess I'm a bit biased as I am interested in the subject and psychology behind the Holocaust, but if you are naive or interested in the subject, this is the place for you. You begin your journey on the first floor and grab an identification card and hop into the elevator to the 4th floor where the journey begins. it gives you a bit of a preface and then you're on your way. As you make your way down the exhibits, you learn much ore than you ever thought. This is something you will never forget, not just another place with artifacts

One of the most invoking and powerful museums I've ever been to. From start to finish you are educated regarding how such an evil man as Hitler made his way to power. And to end it with a Jewish mother talking about she saved her daughter from the concentration camp by finding her new parents. I bawled. Such selflessness. Such heroics from rescuers. You won't regret visiting.

My fav museum in DC. This place will take you back decades in history. A must visit place for anyone who is interested in learning about the Holocaust. The way the museum portrays the horrifying story is just amazing. The entire experience is just chilling. The museum is pretty close to Union station.

I have been a few times. It is a few floors and it covers the entire Holocaust History in Europe. So there is a lot to see and read. This is a special, sacred place. I highly recommend a visit.

Everyone should visit this museum. It will stay with you and change you, if you're paying attention. Be forewarned, however--the truths archived here are searing and unforgettable. Not a breezy visit.

When you enter this memorial, close your eyes and listen to the words... You'll hear lots of anti- immigration & anti-gay speeches that blame them for stealing jobs, causing crime, and destroying country. Hitler promises to "make Germany great again!" Sounds familiar? The Syria exhibit at the end is also haunting... Why aren't we stopping this?

This place is phenomenal. The volunteers are incredible. The museum itself is very moving. Might be tougher to process for a younger audience, so adult guidance suggested. But otherwise an outstanding experience.

Great museum! This museum really makes an impact on you! The museum is 4 stories and you walk through the museum that s laid out in chronological order and takes you through the horrific events that went on during the holocaust. You are given a card that contains information of one person who was a victim during the holocaust and it tells their story, you read each page as you go onto the next floor and it corresponds to the time period for the floor you are currently on. Great experience highly recommended! Same day tickets can be purchased online at 6am each day!
