Very friendly, helpful staff. Upon arrival you are given a new mask and hand sanitizer is available all over the place. I wish EVERY hospital DEMANDED you change to a clean mask upon arrival, sadly that isnt the case. Kudos Upstate, ahead of the curve for mitigating the risk to those you serve!

Same experience here. Physicians are stellar., however Cleanliness NOT a priority. Hospital rooms are dirty, patients not bathed or cleaned. SOME Nurses constantly on cell phones. No aides. No cleaning staff...

In June of 2017 I was rushed in for an unknown pregnancy which ended up an ectopic. My boyfriend rushed in for a wheelchair then came back to the truck the get me. I was puking, passing out & in a lot of pain. Yall had me seen quicker then I could imagine, even with a huge waiting room full of people ahead of me. If it wasn't for the staff and my heart telling me to get seen I would bleed unknown internally that night in my sleep. Before and after all procedures every nurse/staff was fantastic. I couldn't thank you enough!

Unacceptable care on Neuro floor for my uncle. If I could give no stars that would be more appropriate. It's very sad the lack of communication and compassion from the dr.s and staff for my uncle and our family . Our experience at this hospital was disappointing and frustrating. I hope for others things improve and you don't end up experiencing what we had to go through.

It's hard to give a good rating to an emergency room visit in general due to the nature of the service. They always come as an unwelcome surprise. They take a long time. They require needles, uncomfortable seating, and spending time with other sick and injured people in various states of pain or discomfort. Beyond all that, Upstste did a solid job of making us feel comfortable, respected, cared for, safe, and that we were in the right place. We visited when a family member had symptoms that could have indicated cardiac distress. When we arrived they had received a note from our Primary Care Physician. Plus. They got us out of the Emergency Room waiting area quickly. Plus. Most of the nurses, doctors, and technicians, were very friendly, compassionate, and inspired confidence that we were in good hands. I say most because the person who took our information when we came was not as friendly as the other employees. They kept us informed of what was happening at all times. Plus. They asked lots of questions. They were organized. Plus. Plus. They helped us understand all of the results. Plus. When we were discharged we felt confident that we knew what was going on and that we had been in the hands of the right people. I hope to never have to go back to the ER, but if (when) I do, I'll go to Upstate with confidence.

Very poor phone etiquette. I don't know if you are hiring bratty teenage girls to answer the phones but that's unfortunately the population that seems to be picking up the phones especially in 4B where I am trying to get connected to a patient who is currently there. Horrible, awful, phone service! Can't recount the amount of times I have had someone hang up the phone on me or cut me off mid-sentence with ALOT of attitude. Hire professionals NOT little girls who can't string together a proper sentence with politeness!!!!!!

Everything there is so complicated and confusing. ...

Everything there is so complicated and confusing. I know we're in different time nowadays, but they're a bit disjointed there.
Upon entering you must take one of their masks. Even if you have your own. If you leave and come right back in, like I did, you have to take another new mask....again. Hospital policy that you need a new mask when you enter.
I was supposed to have preapproval to escort my mother, because she needed me to. At every checkpoint i went to they immediately said they didn't have that and had to check. A couple moments later they had the approval. There was a security guard there ready to jump on my back and force me to leave. He got up and moved closer when i mentioned i had preapproval and the tech said he didn't have it. As soon as they found it he sat back down.
Then when we went to the other areas nobody seemed to have my mother listed for anything. They had to call people and find out we were expected. When we finally got to her doctors office they did know we were coming and it was fine from there.
Overall I wish I didn't have to go back there, but I Unfortunately will.
