It's hard to give a good rating to an emergency room visit in general due to the nature of the service. They always come as an unwelcome surprise. They take a long time. They require needles, uncomfortable seating, and spending time with other sick and injured people in various states of pain or discomfort. Beyond all that, Upstste did a solid job of making us feel comfortable, respected, cared for, safe, and that we were in the right place. We visited when a family member had symptoms that could have indicated cardiac distress. When we arrived they had received a note from our Primary Care Physician. Plus. They got us out of the Emergency Room waiting area quickly. Plus. Most of the nurses, doctors, and technicians, were very friendly, compassionate, and inspired confidence that we were in good hands. I say most because the person who took our information when we came was not as friendly as the other employees. They kept us informed of what was happening at all times. Plus. They asked lots of questions. They were organized. Plus. Plus. They helped us understand all of the results. Plus. When we were discharged we felt confident that we knew what was going on and that we had been in the hands of the right people. I hope to never have to go back to the ER, but if (when) I do, I'll go to Upstate with confidence.
