I come to this place to take art or craft type classes. The staff is friendly and helpful. It has a ramp for persons with mobility issues n handicapped issues. They finally obtained and installed air conditioning to cool off an otherwise hot space. So appreciated.

I was at the University Settlement for The Universal Rent Control for New York State called the Rent Laws Town Hall on April 6, 2019.

The address for the Universally Settlement is 184 Eldridge Street in the Lower East Side (LES) area of New York City.

It was NYC Tenents and Elected Officiials join together to fight keeping NYC renters protected.

The elected Officials confirmed to attend was:

NY State Assemblymember Niou,

NY State Assemblymember
Epstein,

NY State Senator Hoylman & NY State Senator Kavanagh.

There was already a lot of NYC Tenants seated by 2 pm when i arrived, and there was more arriving. There were NYC Tenants from all walks of life, and many were quite upset.

Rent increases is not a pleasant topic to digest. Every New Yorker Rentor and NYC Rentor have had their rent increased year after year, aome every 2 years if they opt for a 2 year lease.
