Wouldn t send any one here. They accept way too many students than they can handle because they only care about money. Students are forced in upperclass dorms with 2 rooms (3 people in EACH room = six total people in one small dorm room) and one bathroom. Sometimes you have ONE bedroom with three - four other students in undergrad. Let alone- the parking is impossible. You have to leave an extra 10 minutes just to find a parking spot in time for class. More than likely- you ll have to park somewhere you can t (because you have no other choice)- don t worry they ll charge you on that. They do not care about current students AT ALL. Only the money from out of staters. The admissions never checks in with you on your degree and has no plan to even help you get there. Let s not forget the 10 emails you ll receive daily that have nothing to do with you. Better off going elsewhere I promise you- inside and out. I m currently leaving to go to SNHU. HUGE difference to see a college want you to succeed and not just your money.
They wanted to change the name last year after every current student, alumni & staff said no. Wasting thousands of dollars on a name change to attract more out of state students is insane when the school needs a huge amount of work to support its network of students. Long story short: they really could care less about your education.

I am currently a freshmen, and the education is challenging but easily achievable because the professors care. It is also extremely affordable compared to other higher education institutions.

This is college, there's no such thing as a "teaching degree" like there is in secondary school. This school has amazingly good professors, and people who are experts in their professions because Portland, Maine is such a nice place to live! All the night live life without the hassle. I went to the Shetland Islands on a field study. Students go all over the world in various degree specialties. Iceland is the next big place students will be going. I've received two certificate degrees in GIS and Community Planning and Development as a non-traditional student.

The ridiculous runaround between the registrar, admissions and the department of transfer affairs is enough to steer anyone clear of this place. Do yourself a favor and seek an institution with a better sense of timeliness, organization and concern for students and prospective students.

I find the low scores interesting because you are essentially rating yourself. If you have any reference at all it is because you had an experience at another school that you had an obvious reason to transfer from. This school is ripe to provide a student with exactly what they work toward. The administration is very accommodating and the professors provide the students with the opportunity to think for themselves. The core requirements promote a well rounded student who can think critically and make decisions based on that judgment. I would highly recommend this school for traditional as well as non traditional students. This review is provided by a non-traditional student who went full-time and graduated.

What good years and good memories in this university!
Thank you to the teachers for their patience and their listening.
Too bad that with my husband's work we are away six months out of the year otherwise they would have gone.
A very good university! Thanks again!

This is a giant warning to anyone seeking to pursue Computer Science or Information Technology. Almost every computer science assignment is needlessly confusing. You are going to learn more from Youtube and StackOverflow. Some of the IT classes are OK, but only two of my classes from my entire degree program have aided me in the work I do. If you want to go down the path of tech in Maine (and stuck here) I recommend doing community college, and then transfer to a much better university out of state. The bureaucracy of USM is thick. It's probably the worst in the university in the state. They use tax money on the wrong things.
