I used to think highly of this place thinking that i would receive the best care even for less critical issues but from the times I've needed to come here during the pandemic it has been the opposite of that. Yea i understand things have been crazy because of covid but that's no excuse to treat non-covid patients with any less care. It's no excuse to treat anyone with less severe issues with less care period. Every patient that walks through those emergency doors should be treated and examined with the highest level of care and dignity. No person should be left unturned or overlooked. It shouldn't take a person basically dying rapidly in order to receive that kind of treatment. It shouldn't take covid or anything deadly or serious to make medical staff realize and understand that. Some people have things happening to them that they not only need answers to but also get treated for as well in any way possible. Those kind of people shouldn't be overlooked and sent home like as if what they are dealing with is nothing. Some people aren't able to wait several days to see their doctor or wait months to see a specialist. That's why they are there in the emergency room to begin with because they need help much sooner than that. This is the michigan hospital for crying out loud. This place should have outstanding staff and also the best resources to work with for the patients. If that can't be proven to patients, even ones with underlying issues then you lose your standard for being one of the best hospitals.
The cancer center and oncologists are outstanding. Beaumont gave my family member 6 months to live and said there was nothing they could do for her cancer. We went to U of M and she is going on 2 years of being alive. They have done miracles for her. Each cancer they find they tackle it with a plan of care. Even if she passed away tomorrow, they gave us another 2 years with her. Forever grateful.
Went into the labor area to take my daughter in ... The man at the desk was very nasty to me .. My 1st Grandbaby and he told me to leave the hospital so i waited in my car. 100 percent vaccined with mask and i was told to go and wait Outside in a parking garage alone.... I am so upset to see the security man treat people like this. I will never usw u of m again. So thank you for making my daughter upset while in Labor
Medical staff is very good, IF AND WHEN you finally see them. I went to the ER, it was urgent. First person I see is the Valet, asking for my keys. Never mind asking if I need help getting inside! I had a bad experience with a Valet several years ago. So I don't hand over my keys just because someone asks for them!! Besides that, with Covid running rampant (again!), I don't want anyone else in my car at this time!!!!!!! I was inside for less than 30 minutes, and an employee came up and said you'll have to move your car, or they're going to tow it away!!!! So I went out to drive the car to a parking ramp, and there's something under my windshield wipers. They gave me a parking ticket!!!!!!! My GOOD GOD-Is ANYONE interested in helping me, or is where, and how long, I'm parked the real Triage situation? I'd have a hard time believing this, if it wouldn't have happened to me!!!! Talk about making a bad situation worse....
Outstanding! This hospital has been a lifesaver. The staff are second to none. I am so grateful for all of the empathetic care and concern for all aspects of my well being . I am very fortunate to have been able to get the opportunity to work with teams of specialists . I can't thank the nurses enough. They are very special people. God is so good to me.
I feel they prejudge you and take matters of your health into their own hands. I would never forget what the nurse said to me while she was handing my driver's license and laughing at the same time saying well the good news is you still have one eye.Letting me know my surgery didn't go right on purpose. If you come from jail or prison I would not go there for no kind of treatment because it will not go right. Trust and believe me I know personal and so did my mom she's not here today because of this hospital..
Checked In for chest x-ray at 4:40pm, the staff left me in waiting room and went home :) I found it hilarious. But a nice employee who was leaving at end of the day went above and beyond her job to find me help at a different location and got my x-ray done. This was at Ann Arbor. Earlier this year, at Northville location, I visited two times for a blood draw, they botched my CBC (how? don't ask me), I had to go third time for a blood draw. I have been going to University of Michigan Hospitals for 21 years. Things were great there. Now they are just falling apart. I feel bad because they are a premier hospital. I will still give three stars for all the good doctors and nurses I have met there.
