An MD program built on personalization where students come first! As a family owned program, the sense & feeling of family resonates through our entire program. In whichever capacity you join UMHS-- whether it be as a student, faculty member, or staff, you are joining a movement of excellence in medical education! --Corie, Associate Director of Admissions

I cannot thank this school enough for providing me with all of the resources to successfully match into a residency program! The professors truly care about each and every student and want them to succeed on the USMLE. My clinical coordinator in the NY office was there for me every step of the way to secure my clinical rotations! I went to UMHS with a dream of becoming a physician and it came true! So thankful.

I ve worked for UMHS for 16 years and have watched it grow from the very first class in 2007 to the thriving medical school it is today. I have been particularly impressed by how hands-on the owner and senior management are at working with students when problems arise. Going to medical school is not easy, and there can be particular complications when you attend a Caribbean medical school on an island far from your friends and family. Over the years I have been impressed by the way the needs, concerns and well-being of UMHS students are the main priorities of the medical school. Whenever students run into any type of issue academic or personal President Ross or one of the Ross family members go out of their way to help find a solution. In nearly two decades of working for UMHS, I ve seen firsthand the struggles students experience on the journey to becoming an MD. I won t sugarcoat things because med school is a rough road no matter which school you choose in either the USA or elsewhere, but people who attend Caribbean medical schools have to overcome many obstacles and stigma. Students who go to UMHS often must try a little harder than their counterparts in the US but their efforts pay off in the end because they obtain prestigious residencies at great hospitals. People who do well at this school are fighters who love a challenge from nontraditional students to career changers to people who simply decide one day that they want to make a difference. There are many women, people of color, folks of different faiths and diverse backgrounds, all of them so different, but everyone has a common goal to succeed and help humanity by becoming an MD. UMHS students complete the same clinical rotations that US students do, and UMHS grads get the same kinds of residencies that US grads do.

Most people would be surprised to learn that Caribbean medical school grads in general and UMHS grads in particular tend to be overachievers. I m always amazed at how energetic and resourceful the students are. It s very easy to be cynical in today s world, but you ll find that many UMHS students and grads excel in so many areas and are humanitarians at heart. In addition to attending med school, UMHS students do countless hours of volunteer work for various causes and some have even founded nonprofit organizations all while studying medicine.

As for the UMHS campus, it is state-of-the-art and has all the latest technology as well as a first-rate anatomy lab and cadavers. The faculty are primarily recruited from the USA and Canada and they really go out of their way to help students succeed. Students get the extra help and personalized attention at UMHS that is unheard of at other medical schools. Visit the UMHS website and look at the school s Match rates and the amazing residencies the students obtain. This speaks volumes about UMHS and how the school really prepares future doctors for success.

I had the pleasure of attending UMHS as a student. Upon arriving to campus it was immediately apparent that the school prides itself on investing in its campus and its students. I was most impressed with their state of the art anatomy lab. Something I didn t appreciate until until I started was the value of an excellent anatomy lab that allows you to perform your own dissections. All of my professors were very approachable and pushed me to excel. The class sizes are relatively small which helps to not get lost in a sea of students. The school was supportive throughout my basic and clinical science coursework. I am very happy that I chose UMHS for my medical education.

I graduated from UMHS In 2017. Going to the UMHS was the best decision I have ever made. I loved kitts and I thought the education was fantastic. I completed my internal medicine residency in Chicago and now I am pursuing my palliative fellowship at Vanderbilt. I would 100% choose this path and umhs again!

As a transfer student, I am very excited to have completed my medical training at UMHS. Compared to my previous school, the class size here is smaller which provided me with the personal one on one attention I needed, and the faculty is caring and are always responsive with any questions or concerns I may have. I am now a Resident at an established Hospital, and I am truly happy for all the help I received from UMHS on my journey to achieving my dream as a physician.

UMHS is a top tier Caribbean Medical School. I have had the honor and privilege to work with such an amazing group of students, alumni, faculty, and staff. I have worked with several other Caribbean Medical Schools, and UMHS is by far the best school that a student could select to realize their dreams of becoming a medical doctor.

UMHS genuinely cares about each student's success throughout medical school and beyond. There are often times schools that declare or say that they care about their students, but UMHS actually does care and does everything in their power to ensure the success of each student.

Medical school is not easy, but knowing that you are joining a family of students, faculty, staff, and alumni who care, you will be assured the path of one step closer to becoming an MD.
