Not a great experience. Applied in 2014 and I was sent an SMS that I was not accepted, fortunately I was accepted in other institutions as I had 41 points. Last year I applied for postgraduate diploma in business administration and during my application I realised that I had a student number from 2014, which doesn't make sense as I wasn't accepted. Anyways I ended up unable to complete my application as the system had problems which really was draining, been up and down between westville campus and Howard college trying to get assistance with application. For such a university to have poor service

University of KwaZulu Natal inspiring greatness. Serves the students needs. It a great campus. For matric student in order for them to be accepted to learn at UKZN they must score 30 points upwards. I do my degree at UKZN.

While the academia is great and superior the environment was not good on a recent visit . The students studying there are disrespectful or not even remotely thoughtful of others. They behaved as if the university owed them free education and general support.i had the absolute displeasure at being at Howard campus during the Nsfas debacle.
Needless to say the behabiour of those students are apalling and one wonders how on earth these people will be professional in their respective careers once qualified. I did not enroll here after what i saw and read further in regards to the violence and lack of control of these protests. Dissapointed my 1st experience at a once respected university was reminder of the failing of the education system .

Ukzn provides unlimited access to wifi for its students. As a student you have access to an array of software for academic purposes. They provide various services on campus these include counselling, medical attention and accomodation. The university frequently holds events that allow students to mix with people from other backgrounds and attend at a reduced rate. They have security at all entrances in branded uniforms.

Not as great as it used to be. Infrastructure is neglected, there are plenty of lazy and incompetent staff, most leadership is either useless or hampered by higher up useless leadership.

I'm very sad to see my old home nearly fifteen years become so poorly.

Beautiful campus. Great library and resources. Slow wifi when busy. Great place to study and visit. Has been plagued by political issues / protests in recent times, but the general vibe is still positive and inviting. Not that many eating options on campus (only 2 halaal). Main cafeteria is slow and staff seem overworked. Severely lacks entertainment, although there's usually music and events on Fridays. Sport facilities are good but you'll have to find them and inquire by yourself. Staff are generally helpful although admins tend to be slow.

It's the worst. I had applied and I it's now the third week of school I do not get a response. Evertime I go in person, I am told to return home and wait for a response that never arrives. I truly don't understand how I get to stay at home with the 29 points when I had applied for a program I qualify for, yet a friend of mine with 26 points get to start... I mostly disappointed, but I don't blame only UKZN, I personally think the way South Africa at large operates in a way that's never fair.

I study at UKZN and the staff's incompentency cost me a bursary at a very good program. I had to pay for a marking error that they made, I had to pay for the repairs for an Nsfas funded laptop of which they were supposed to cover the costs, but evidently corruption was involved. The people who work there have the same "system is offline" mentality that every government department has. It's disgusting honestly. And I am beyond glad to be finally leaving that vile place. Save yourself and do not apply to UKZN.

Beautiful music at the Jazz Club (UKZN Centre for Jazz & Popular Music). A great way to spend Wednesday evenings relaxing with a drink and listening to local talent. Concerts are only available during term times.

A biggest university that has more students than any other universities,it contains a 5 campuses that are in different cities which is Pietermaritzburg, westville, Edgewood, Howard and Medical school. This means they have many professional qualifications which include Engineering, Nursing, Humanities. The students are very well taken care of because there are provided with residence inside campuses
