While the location isn't on the safer sides of the city, there is a night watch crew that can escort you to where you need to go which is excellent. The building itself is very modern and has an excellent, "new", feel to it.

They have a large conference room and the staff there are super friendly. They also support numerous initiatives that benefit Winnipeg so that's always a plus. If you have the time, stop by and say hi and learn about the ways that United Way is helping out Winnipeg.

I love the United Way and UNICEF I've supported them since I was a child!!

What can I say about this important Winnipeg Institution? I am a volunteer at United Way Winnipeg. The location at Higgins and Main might turn some people off, but it is safe at all times. They built there because of proximity to so many non-profit social-service agencies in the area. The United Way uses a Stewardship Model which is not used by all United Way agencies across Canada. As an Agency Liaison Volunteer, I join other volunteers and a Community Investment Manager (staff) to visit funded agencies for contract renewal or annual update meetings. We ask the questions, listen to the answers, and make recommendations to the Community Investment Council which approves funding contracts. There are also volunteers who help with the Annual Campaign and others who help at Special Events. The facility is bright and clean and welcoming. Many community groups attend professional development organized by United Way or use the large meeting room for an Agency event.
