Not every installation will go perfectly. A fault...

Not every installation will go perfectly. A faulty component being installed is a statistical possibility with any HVAC instillation from any manufacturer. While the quality, functionality, and durability of the system are prominent in the selection process for most customers, another that should be equally important is how the manufacturer and the chosen contractor, installing the unit, react to and resolve problems.

Ours was one example of an installation that did not go well. We installed a high velocity cooling system in our 100-plus year old house. The system under performed for the first few days of operation and subsequently failed altogether when a blower motor failed. This is where Unico and the installer, Royal Oak Heating and Cooling in Royal Oak, Michigan, stepped up and resolved the problem in a professional and thorough team approach. They analyzed the system, checked all factors that might have lead to failure, including system configuration and electrical supply parameters and stability. They did not simply replace the motor and cross their fingers.

There was a process in place ready to support the customer. This is what good companies do.

We now have a beautiful professional installation and couldn't be more pleased with the performance. We specifically wish to thank Brian Intagliata at Unico for spearheading the problem resolution effort and follow-up. and the team at Royal Oak Heating and Cooling for their stellar support, beyond the call!

We own a Contemporary Cape. When we moved in 2001 we did not think central air was possible. Shortly after we moved in we partly understood why both previous owners did not stay too long. House was designed to stay warm in winter, but it was extremely hot in the summer. We (My wife with a whole bunch of research) stumbled across the Unico system. Its ability to snake duct work through tight hard to reach places was a perfect solution. The heat issue has been no more. The system lasted a good 16 years. We had to replace the condenser, and central handler last summer, and the newer models are much quieter and efficient compared to the original model(which were extremely happy with).

Our installer Boucher Energy Systems out of Mendon MA has been exceptional. With regular maintenance and service we expect to get another 15 years of cool enjoyable comfort in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. Whomever said you don't need AC in the Northeast is trying to make themselves feel better, because they don't have it.

Awesome HVAC system for our beloved 1921 center entrance colonial (with radiators). Brought our house and standard of living up to date! Unico rep, Lou, was on site several times throughout the process and Turnbull HVAC system have been great to work with. I ve already recommended to other friends with hot water heating systems in need of a micro-duct solution to air conditioning.

Contractor installed a conventional system downstairs and UNICO upstairs in our 3500sqft 1905 brick Victorian in Iowa. Downstairs system is silent, sealed, even, efficient. Upstairs it s noisy, tons of leaks in the attic plenums, and drafty. Barely keeps up. Calculated capacity is 1/3 less that a conventional system. Meaning nearly same airflow for actual delivered capacity but a lot less efficient. Nothing but issues trying to improve it. Figure it costs me at least another $50/mo in electricity all summer.

Be sure you have clear performance guarantees and don t make final payment until they are met.

Better system with chilled and hot water or VRF condensers. Need to stay under 25cfm on 2 outlets for it to be quiet.

UNICO rep has tried to help but I think contractor is a little outside their wheelhouse and has made too many errors and ran into system limitations.

Might have to run it as cooling only system, disable heat pump and charge for cooling, reseal. Maybe add some attic insulation and make it semi conditioned and sealed.

Or rip it out and start over.
