Great informative exhibits. My whole family learned a lot.
Great informative exhibits. My whole family learned a lot.
Amazing museum, I could spend a full day and probably more. Great opportunity for father-son bonding, as well as historical information.
Had a blast - and it was free!
A must-see museum for aircraft enthusiasts. Segmented into the various wars and very interesting to see the progression of our military aircraft.
This place is HUGE! We spent hours there and didn't even cover the whole museum. It was great to see the planes, missiles, and bombs so closely. All of this and it was free to visit. Can't beat that.
Love this place I only have one request I want to get a walk threw the Memphis bell because of my grandfather was a pilot in war11
Amazing place to visit...lots to learn from history and to top it all off its free.
I try to go every couple years and always enjoy myself.
We took our kids, specifically our 3 year old, to see the planes. It was fun to show him this museum as it was something I loved as a kid. They have really expanded! There are so many new buildings and more exhibits! Also they have spread out the old exhibits a little too, makes it nicer to walk around. We will continue to visit in the future! Can't wait to see what comes next!
This is a great place to learn a little history about the airplane and aerodynamics!
This museum is huge! Definitely worth the drive and time it takes to walk around inside. There are several hangers all of which are divided into certain decades.
They offer an inexpensive food court on the second floor located near the missile gallery. If you have strollers, are handicap or wheelchair accessibility is needed the elevator is in the missile gallery as you enter to your left.
The museum does offer free maps but you can buy a nice detailed map that has all the names of the planes and the outline of each plane on exhibit. This makes it easier to find planes instead of walking around reading all of the informational placards. The cost of the detail map varies as they do ask for donations.
This place has the most information ever gathered for the Air Force.
Great place to go for adults and children! Parking and entry are completely free! Lots of knowledgeable volunteers! Amazing place!!!
This place is entirely free for visitors.
You can grab a vast knowledge about the history of aviation to the current space projects.
The space tour was awesome.
There are building tours for all 4 buildings. You can get those information from the front desk. The volunteers doing a really great job. I really appreciate their service.
However the photographer did a bad job for our group.
And one more thing. The food inside was pretty bad and not worth for the price.
It's one of the best aircraft museums to be found outside of the Smithsonian. It does have a very tight focus on the usaf but many displays and events show other parts of aircraft and war history. I cam specifically to see the Belle, and I wasn't disappointed. This place has gotten so large now, there is no real way to experience it all in a day without truly wearing yourself out. Go, the only thing that will disappoint you is the food.
Such a cool experience! Massive amount of history - we spent three hours here and had to essentially run through to see it all. Definitely would go back and spend more time walking around. Make sure you check out the newest hangar- all past Air Force Ones are there and you can walk through them too. The plane that carried JFK'S casket and where LBJ was sworn in is there. Very surreal and humbling to see.
This place is THE BEST! I have been going here since I was a toddler and this place got me on the road to practically being a military aviation historian. This place has great artifacts, very very nice staff, fun interactive activities and is a great workout. If you are in the area, this is a MUST go to place!
This place is AWESOME! And free? Come on! Spend the day here!
Very cool! There are 3 huge Hangers, we only got through 1! The Holocaust section, chilling and will make you weep.
Great museum big hangars full with all kind of historic airplanes and things from us air force , and it's free entrance.
This was my second time there. Still saw things i didnt see before. Its a very nice place. Lots of history.
Great museums with a large amount of airplanes from all parts of history. I've been here more than 5 times and have not even come close to seeing and reading about half the exhibits. The best thing is: it's free. This museum is the best thing about Dayton, Ohio. Be sure to visit when you're in the area.
The best airplane museum. A lot of history and exhibits. A lot of walking will be needed. Presidential exhibit is a must see
Amazing static displays. Well organized. At least two days worth of quality exhibits.
Well worth a visit. Lots of aircraft. A bit heavy on the reading panels, but they share a great deal of info.
I loved the Hall of Fame and hubby loved EVERYTHING. From the beginnings of flight to voyages into space. Takes a good 2 days to see it all!
A fantastic museum to visit if you have the time this would be worthwhile for anyone interested in the history of the Air Force. Great experience.
Full of planes. Its an ideal place to go if you are interested in the US airforce history. It says lot about what plane/technology was used for which combat in the past.
Make sure you have plenty of time when you visit the Air Force Museum. So much to see!!!
Absolutely amazing and educational. Something for everyone of all ages. And amazing social distancing and covid measures in place.
Great place to go and visit, not many places they don't charge to enter. Alot of history
Such an amazing place and so full of history. Amazing collection of planes in the birthplace of aviation. From the Wright flyer to the latest stealth fighters, this is an immense collection. Honestly, too big for one day if you really want to take it in.
Free parking and free admission so a good value for families. However, they don't allow outside food or drinks and the food is priced like it is a sports arena (read expensive and not very good). Suggest eating before or after you go.
Nice place to visit if you are passing by. Better take guided tour. If interested in old plane the definitely good place. Else not worth traveling 150 miles if not interested in old planes.
Always a fun visit. Lots of great history to explore and learn about. Best part...It's FREE!
Wow...what a huge place. Need to return when we can spend more time.
It is great place to go to learn about the history of aircraft
Tons of old and new planes and jets. Free parking and admission
So much history here, you could spend a week. Guided tours available or just wander around.
It was awesome and super clean! Just a heads up: they have a no outside food or drink policy but they let us take our water bottles in...just had to rent a locker to put them in.
You can bank on their Google rating. Five stars all the way. This is by far the best aviation museum in the country. I ve been to many museums and nothing comes close to the variety and history here. I have been multiple times in my lifetime and I have never left disappointed.
I was fortunate enough to take a behind the scenes tour a few years back and was able to see the Memphis Belle restoration in progress. It was in three sections at the time.
This place is massive and houses numerous historical aircraft. Be prepared to spend a few worthwhile hours here.
Amazing colletion of planes and artifacts. Not just for airplane geeks, too. My wife wasn't thrilled at the idea of going, but I think she enjoyed it as much , or more, than I did. She particularly likes the exhibits like the Berlin Airlift area, that are more human-centered. So it's not just 4 huge hangers full of aircraft, it's also a great museum im other ways.
A lot better than when I went to it about 5 years ago
We go every year and always love to see everything.
I think we need to be honest with ourselves. No family could possibly see the entire Museum in one day now that they have added on a 4th hanger. That being said... it's pretty cool! Start at the back and see the space and presidential planes first :-) (so you don't miss them.) Grandma, grandpa, Mom, 12 year old son, 10 year old daughter, 6 year old son all enjoyed it. Don't forget to do the IMAX!
Great place to learn about Dayton's aviation history
This is so awesome and it's free imagine that.it is very big you will walk alot and I mean alot.so much to see gift shop very big and loaded with great things.this is truly an awesome museum.
This place is just BREATHTAKING!! A brilliant place for aviation lovers! From plane history to the advanced jets they have it all. They have both quantity and quality! With various 3D shows this place becomes one great option to visit in the weekend!
What an amazing place. I hadn't visited this museum for over 10 years, and was excited to bring my boys. We only had 4 hours to spend, and barely got started.
Truly a marvel and inspirational museum that is free!! Great collection of the Air Force and space history that is a must visit when In Dayton. This place will transform you to the turn of century when Wright Bro were working hard to invent flying or to the various world wars. Has great park for a family picnic as well. Enjoy with family and share memories with all the pictures you will take. I have been coming here for the last 20 years and still find it attractive and adventurous.
Everything here from the Wright Brothers to Stealth planes. Free entry too!
What an awesome experience for anyone who likes to see the history of aviation. Great for people if all ages
Well run museum. Lots of 1 of a kind air craft. If your at all interested in aviation history, this is a must stop. Even my wife like the president's planes (AKA Air Force Ones). Easily rivals both Smithsonian Air and Space Museums (parking and admission is free)
A fascinating collection that illustrates the history of manned flight!
Really awesome this is here, so much history. If you are in the area this place is really a must see
Loved it. My son and 2 grandsons was with me. Truely interesting.
It's been well over 20 years since my dad brought me here as a youth, today I bring my kids. It has changed a lot. Now it is primarily in 4 hangers and devided into era's. It is free to park and get in. But you will want to do flight simulator and the vr space station. Lots of small interactive things to do. Lots of walking but there are plenty of spots to sit and rest. I wish it was not 4.5 hour drive for us. We stayed over night and spent 2 days in here. Loved it
The air force museum has been promoted from a 4 star general to a 5 star general for the beautiful restoration job they had done on the Memphis Belle. The admission is free and it is absolutely an amazing display of military history.
Had a great time with the family! Great to see all of the old aircraft.
Unbelievable amount of history! I could have stayed for several more hours and wouldn't get 1/2 way through! If at all possible, avoid the day when all the boyscouts go. They are little demons that will run amuck, leaving a path of destruction behind them. If it wasn't free, I would have complained formally. One final piece of advice, start from the back and work your way to the main entrance.
The museum is huge so plan a full day. So much history from the first gliders to spacecraft to Air Force 1 to missiles. Plenty of guided tours available. The special exhibits are always great. There are interactive exhibits for kids. The museum is well-maintained. Nice little cafe when you need a snack break.
Incredible museum! Beats the Smithsonian in D.C. by a thousand miles!
Loved this place. I saw planes I never dreamed I'd see.
My spouse and I really enjoyed walking around the Air Force museum. It was so much larger than I thought it was has for buildings and we were only able to make our way through 3 of the buildings. Fortunately admission is free so we can stop by anytime and explored the final building. It is family friendly and enjoyable by all ages.
It was great a lot of historical planes are there including the ww2 bomber MEMPHIS BELLE.
Everytime I go I see something I didn't see the last time I was there. Very educational.
