No information online on how to cancel. Have to come in in person and they still charge you for the next month unless you give them a 2 week notice. Super lame. Austin YMCA has cancel form and information online.

Our family comes here to use the gym and child care. The ladies at child care are all sweet and have grown to love our son and he enjoys going there. The play area for kids is huge. The gym could be a little bigger. I'd give 5 stars but I think the gym needs more Elipticals like they have treadmills. Front staff has never said hello to me or good bye when I walk by.

Just joined for weight lifting/cross training and the pool. Typical of Y's If you can afford the time of attendance, do so, and things won't be so crowded. The pool schedule is interesting. I have yet to figure out when you can swim laps. But I will reconnoiter the situation before showing up with a suit. Friendly place. I am older and this is a nice, though busy Y. Front desk ladies are a pleasure.

I go here for archery on Sundays with the SCA group. They offer it free with use of their materials and will instruct you. The facilities are covered so you're not in the angry sun. There are trash cans and bathrooms. There us a playground as well. If I lived closer or had children I'd definitely be there more often. They have so many childrens events and are always diligent about watching over the children. It's a very nice place.

The good: It seems to be a great place for families with lots of different programs and childcare. Also geared towards stay at home crowd with most classes during the day. Great front desk staff and the class trainers were also very good.
The bad: It isn't such a great place in general to work out. Crowded weight room and indoor lap pool, run by teenagers who rarely enforce the lap lane rules, that was so over chlorinated it bleached out my swim trucks in 2 weeks.

I have been a member for several years here and have used their facilities frequently from youth sports to the pool and the gym. However I have noticed a negative change especially in child watch within the last year or so. Both of my children used to love coming to the Y but now hate it because they are constantly bullied by the same group of kids and when they try to tell the counselor, it seems nothing is done.
When they finally take matters into their own hands because counselors seem to not address the issues, then my children get in trouble for taking up for themselves. This has been an issue with other friends of mine that have found another gym for the same reason.
Unfortunately I will be leaving and finding another facility. I wish this wasn t the case because this Y really does have some great activities, but I need to know when I drop my kids off, they are with adults that will take action when other children are doing inappropriate things to them.

Just walked out of the Y was there to inquire about membership and camps for my daughter. The woman working with me could not have been less interested in assisting me. I left with very little knowledge and not feeling very welcome.

This y has excellent amenities and offers childcare options and programs like no other gym. However, because they are so popular, it is awfully crowded and occasionally there is not room for my children in the childwatch. There is no better facility/program for the price though. ~80 for a family and that includes one free date night a month for 4 hours of free childcare. It is called Free Family Friday.

They kept charging our card after we canceled. Then they didn't respond until after 90 days and refused to refund our card back. This place is a SCAM! They seem nice until they need to give you your money back. They even charged our card b when the facility was closed. What a scam! THEY'LL TAKE EVERY PENNY THEY CAN!

Oh, and the lifeguard are RUDE

Large, well-organized YMCA providing great facilities for junior basketball and perhaps many other activities, I saw my grandson in a basketball game of about 8 year olds and was very impressed with the skill level and the dedication of the coaches.

Picture this: I want to try this gym out, so I call to inquire about the childcare, and make sure I can bring my one year old daughter. The lady on the phone was very nice, and told me that on Tuesdays and Thursdays, they allow non-members to bring their children for an $8 fee to try out the gym. SO, I wait until Tuesday rolls around, and go up there. Of course, once I get there, I am confronted by a very confused girl who says that's not allowed. I had to explain that I spoke to someone on the phone who told me exactly when to come. I am then treated like an idiot. They decide to let me bring my daughter anyway. Moving on. At first glance, there were two classes that my daughter could go in based on her age. The toddler room was filled with lots of toddlers running around (to be expected, I'm not complaining about that) and an infant (non-walker) room for babies up to 13 months. I express my concerns with my daughter being in the toddler room because she just turned one and cannot walk yet. I am not an overly protective parent, but also don't want my daughter being trampled. The girl at the desk completely agreed and reassured me that the younger-baby room was best for my daughter. All is good and well until I hand my baby over. She starts crying (once again, to be expected), but instead of consoling her, the lady plops her on the ground (in the toddler room, no other adults in sight...I assume the other caretaker was in the back somewhere I couldn't see), and walks back up to the front desk as quickly as she could...clearly in a rush and frustrated that she had to accommodate me, tells me "we have a 15 minute cry limit" and proceeds to check in the next person behind me. I then had to remind her of the conversation we JUST had about me not wanting my baby to be in the middle of the chaos of the bigger kids...all while watching my baby scream her head off at how abruptly she was handed over from her mom and stuck in the middle of the floor with all these kids running around crazy. I get that babies cry, but this was my baby's first time, and MY first impression of the gym day care. The woman did not even make eye contact with my daughter or try to console her in the slightest. Just sat her down as fast as she could and walked away, then makes it clear to me that she's not going to do anything to help soothe her. I am a preschool teacher, and I know you can't hold a baby the whole time, and that's not what I expect. But none of this was ok with me, and I won't be going back. Then, they put my baby in the smaller-baby room, and she cheers up pretty quickly, and I figure I already drove a long way to get here, I may as well work out and not waste my trip. I come get my baby after one hour, and pick her up. She's been sitting in a poopy diaper. I borrow their changing table, am told that she was " just changed" as I clean her (hopefully not TMI, but the poop was drying to her bottom...had been there for a while), and she now has a diaper rash today. WORST childcare experience EVER.

I love this Y! They have everything from childcare to indoor/outdoor pools, weights, classes, sports leagues, etc. Its well worth the money imho. You can also upgrade your membership for a few dollars more and go to other Y' s in Austin so I am able to play basketball with some friends downtown a few times a month.

I like how this YMCA is tailored for families. More activities for children than I've witnessed at other ones. I would like it if they update some of their equipment and try to expand the gym. It gets pretty crowded after 3:30.

Camp Twin Lakes should be renamed Camp Snow Flakes...

Camp Twin Lakes should be renamed Camp Snow Flakes. Because heaven forbid that a little boy shoot a sensitive tweety-something counselor with finger guns. "Pew-pew!!" Don't worry - she'll pull through, bless her heart, but she may be emotionally scarred for life.

As for us, we're done with the Y. They'll never get another dime from us nor our charity. This is a company that claims to be founded on God's principles and that they want to be an integral part of of our community. But I don't see it.

What I have experienced is that they'll discriminate against kids with special needs, they'll target more challenging children and call them troublemakers and bully them until they leave, and they'll try to sweep injuries that occur on their watch under the rug.

Both our children were targeted, bullied, ostracized, and ousted within weeks. The counselors were quick to call me when my son stepped a toe out of line - they would even make stuff up when they didn't know the whole story in order to justify suspending us - but would somehow conveniently fail to inform me that my son fell and hit his head so hard, blood oozed out of his ear. Where's the priorities with these people?

There is non-existent communication and a lack of concern for parents. The counselors seem more interested in hooking up with each other than being care givers. There's a clique following of parents that gets special treatment; they'll let you know if you're not 'one of them.'

I'm glad to say I'm not. I want my boys to be boys - not endocreinated into the Y mentality.

I will NEVER endorse or recommend the Y again.

Rockstar facilities, loads of programs, friendly staff. I took my wife and toddler for a swim on a cold rainy day and we really enjoyed the warm therapy pool. There was a large pool for laps, a sloped wading area for small children, a large slide for bigger kids, a warm therapy pool for lessons, stretching or relaxing, and a hot tub. It was convenient to have a family changing room.

I like the facility, it's very family friendly.
My daughter is taking swimming lessons there. The instructors are great. Kris, the aquatics director, is amazing! She handles issues professionaly, she is kind and caring.

Unfortunately the child watch wasn't a good experience for us. My child refuse to go to Zone ( it's for kids 7 and up). She says the staff is rude, which I believe, because I noticed that also when she was going to child watch ( this is a place for younger children). Especially Monique, who was even rude to me and other parents, so I wonder how she interacts with children.
Overall it's a good place, I just wish we could use the child watch too.

I've been a member for a few years and have gotten to know quite a few of the instructors and staff. All the instructors in my classes are wonderful! They are attentive and have a lot of energy! The pool gets kind of crowded at times especially during the summer or when they are teaching water classes in the shallow end. For individuals that can't swim in the deep, this causes a problem because you don't have much access. Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a staff member that I've had the displeasure of dealing with. One is Cherie or Sherry (not sure how she spells it). I've noticed she is really nice to some people but shuns others. If you ask her a question, she makes faces and sighs like you are bothering her. She tends to be abrupt and short with her answers. She works the front desk so she is one of the first staff you see when you enter. The front desk is the last place she should be. Over the last couple of years, I've tried to be as nice as possible to her to see if maybe she would come around and be friendlier and nicer but to no avail. It's astounding to see a staff member get away with such bad
behavior.

This YMCA is huge and it's a great place for family fun activities! During the summer, check out the pool. They have a splash pad for the little ones, They have another pool that is only about 2 feet deep with a water structure. The deeper area has a large three story tube slide. There are plenty of chairs and shade structures around it for relaxing. Inside are workout facilities, a basketball gym and classes for group exercise. There is a lake on the property that is open to the public along with a playground. They host summer camps as well.

The gym has enough weight machines, free weights, and benches that I find myself waiting. The Y is at the Brushy Creek hike and bike trailhead, so it's perfectly situated for a long run. It has hot tub, sauna, lap pool, and a separate kids/family pool. My little kids love the on-site daycare facilities.

The fact they'll watch the kids while I work out is amazing, good amount of equipment, the place is always clean and tidy. Good selection of classes. I'm really enjoying the fitness first program it's like having a personal trainer without having to pay for it.

I went there for a school field trip and the zip line and swing were very fun but the canoeing was very scary. There were water moccasins everywhere. When my friend and I requested help in the dire situation the canoe staff refused to help. Me and my friend had to request help from another worker who was barely giving us instructions. Our friends in another canoe helped us more than the actual staff did. Great job!:(

Warning do not waste your time or money!!! This place was beyond horrible! Very unwelcoming. The lifeguards were rude. Their customer service was awful. This was our 1st and very last time! We paid for a family day pass and was told to stay In a spot that was not accommodating for children 8,7,6 years old but more for 2 & 3 years old. If you are not a member of the ymca you are looked upon like you have the plague.
