I attended SJCC from February 2009 until October 2010... I had a wonderful experience there. Even though there is a lot of dramam between students, because we come from diverse backgrounds and home training, as well as hard family lives and etc, it was all worth it. I learned tollerance, respect, how to get along with those I didn't particularily care for, that what someone seems like may not be how they really are, and how to make friends and handle enemies. I learned the importance of listening, rather than speaking. I learned how to be prepared for my work day and how my tardiness can affect more than myself. I learned bedside manner, work ethic in general, how to keep a smile in the feild, and felt completely ready and educated before I took my CNA test. I think I had a wonderful Instructor, Bruce Brown. Also, I had a wonderful Career guidance Counselor and help through NE Works after I graduated. I felt fully ready to be in the real world, and prepared for the jobs I was offered. My internship during my attendance at SJCC was awesome and truly prepared me for more than i needed, so I felt confident when I accepted my first job in the Medical Feild. I honestly wouldn't have progressed as well as I did without attending that school. And the food is really 100 times better than High School Cafeteria or Jail food, as opposed to what some people may tell you. My best advice, go in without expectations, except to learn a trade, stay focussed, and Job corps will benefit you tremendously!!!

Wow, where to start? This place has had a huge impact on my life. I went there in 1990 and graduated with an apprenticeship in Signs and Display, under Roland Hansen. He was a real master of handlettering. Here I am 28 years later still in the business. I run a screenprinting and embroidery shop in Idaho. I still do handlettering on signs and have made my name in this trade. I have been to San Francisco, Berkeley, Seattle, Olympia, Spokane, Coeur d alene, and Boise. No matter where I went I could find work woth these skills. On a seperate note, from the looks of this place now, there are new dorms and many more amenities than when i was there. I had a hand in painting the dragon on the gym floor back in the day, hope it is still there! Boy would it ever be awesome to have a reunion of graduates from those days, some of the best people, and I have amazing memories of those days. I hope everyone that goes there comes out with as many strong memories as well as skills to suceed in life, Thank You SJCC!

I have been here since September 25-2013 and love it here! With all this free training and getting a high school diploma with help at your fingers, you can alot of things going from free training in a career you want to help in getting a good solid good paying job. Take the chance while you can get it. You meet alot of different but good people here and by the time you leave it will be treasured memories.

Terrible staffing and poor management, I attended ...

Terrible staffing and poor management, I attended here once and graduated however What many people don t realize is job corps does not look good on a resume for a real reputable employer in 2019 and On top of that, this school needs to fire some of the staff members especially the entitled security staff who think they are the law hiding behind a low end badge. My only wish is that I d have a encounter and confrontation with some of them when they are not on campus. Other than that, this school is a good place for students that are completely homeless and literally have no roof over their head then sure come here. After finishing job corps and not being able to find a good job, I attended Portland youth builders which I can truly say dramatically helped me in many ways and continue to be supportive. I am now happy with my life and most importantly in myself and a steady income. The school also helps students on the verge of being homeless as well, only differences is you can t live on their campus.
