I have taken various workshops with Trina along with the wonderful experience of PhotoCuba 2016. Trina is truly a professional and makes workshops fun, interesting and challenging. My photography has definitely grown to a new level with the guidance from Trina and I look forward to taking more workshops and working with her on a Family Portrait in the near future!
I recently completed private lessons with Trina, primarily through Zoom, as per the Covid restrictions and had such a great experience. She is a kind, flexible and patient teacher and photographer who focused on not only teaching me to acknowledge the artistic features of photography but how to use the manual features of my camera effectively. She was even able to guide me through the use of my editing software. She geared each lesson to my interests and was always prepared.
Since my lessons with Trina I can confidently use my DSLR to capture the important moments with my family that I will now be able to cherish forever. I am looking forward to taking future lessons with her to continue to expand my skills.
Trina took the time to get to know my wife and I before our wedding. She really helped us figure out what shots we wanted and recommended different locations for both our wedding and engagement shoot. She knows Guelph very well!

Trust me when I say the search for a wedding photographer can be intimidating! In reviewing online portfolios and websites you find all of these artistic and (sometimes) overly dramatic moments - we knew we wanted a photographer to capture us...including those small, intimate moments but also do it in a way that was authentic to us as a couple. When my fiance and I were looking to hire a photographer for our wedding we knew that it would be one of the biggest wedding related investments we would make. We knew that we wanted someone who could not only capture the moments for us but who would 'fit' with our family and friends. We were knew to Guelph and did not know a single photographer. So began the Internet search. After calling and meeting with a number of photographers, we met with Jeannine Hamilton (Trina Koster Photography). Jeannine welcomed us and immediately put us at ease. When we left the initial meet and greet, my fiance looked at me with a grin on my face and simply said "you want her." I responded with "Yes, I love her!" So that ended the search and we couldn't have been happier. From helping to choose a location for the engagement shoot to the wedding prep, Jeannine was amazing to work with. She got out vision for the wedding and was able to not only capture those special moments but the little details. I could go on about how much we appreciated and love the photos - we do - but I'll keep this short(ish).
We also have had the pleasure of working with Trina on creation of two books (engagement and wedding) and two framed prints. How does a photographer take a blustery day with a family of four very average-looking people and create a work of art? We approached TKP in the fall of 2019 to have family photos done. At Trina s recommendation, the location for our photos was The Arboretum in Guelph. She worked tirelessly to tease out some lovely moments between the four of us, including our two dogs! During our review session, we landed on a photo that captured the essence of our family relaxed, laughing and we chose to have the photo enlarged and framed. Trina worked with us throughout the process, helping to guide our vision of the final product and how it fit in with us as a family. When the final framed portrait arrived, my husband was stunned. The attention to detail, the punches of colour, the light we can t stop looking at it. Trina did our engagement and wedding photography and we couldn't be happier with the results. I attended the Photo Cuba 2016 workshop run by Trina, and I was very impressed with how well it was organized, the quality of the instruction, the friendliness and support of Trina's team, and the ability to be with real Cubans to understand the culture. It was an excellent experience overall. Why do a review now, five months later? Because Trina keeps the Cuban connection and photography continuing even after the workshop. I just attended a get-together for our Cuban contact who happened to be visiting Canada, and we had a chance to review our gallery prints for an exhibition to be held in Cuba, again organized by Trina. Usually with other photo workshops, the only ongoing connection is information about the next workshop, but with Trina, it's almost like becoming part of the workshop family, so the participants get a whole lot more than just photo instruction. Highly recommended.
Our family had a wonderful photo shoot with Noelle. We had an outdoor family portrait done over the Thanksgiving weekend. Noelle was very knowledgeable, professional and relaxed and our pictures turned out amazing. We were a large group ( complete with dog) and Noelle captured the energy and essence of each one of us. She even volunteered to return later in the day (even though it was the holiday Sunday) to make sure we were happy with the lighting in our shot. I would highly recommend Noelle - it was a pleasure to work with her!

I have thought long and hard about what I'd like to say in my review, as I've been very disappointed in the photos we received of our wedding, and am surprised by the other five-star reviews. We hired a professional photographer for our wedding, rather than asking family and friends, in order to have quality photos of our day. I expected that the photos I received would be in-focus, level, have minimal lens distortion, and follow general composition principles. This wasn't the case with our photos, and I have spent roughly 8 hours attempting to correct them myself (although you can't correct for a photo not being in focus). There were also a couple key moments that were missed, and the instructions we gave in our consultation appointment were not completely followed. Ultimately, we didn't get what we felt we paid for (as there are many cheaper photographers out there).
It was a pleasure getting to work with Jeannine and Michelle. They both were very professional but also made the photo shoot fun and easy going. Jeannine worked with me to make sure that she captured every special moment that I wanted. She also stepped in to help keep me calm when it started to rain, as it was an outdoor wedding. When others involved in the wedding details were trying to tell me what to do 5 minutes before walking down the aisle Jeannine stepped in asking what I wanted and reassured that the wedding would still work outdoors. They both made sure the day went off without a hitch and the photos turned out stunning.

I just had a portrait session with Trina today. To be honest, I was on the verge of cancelling my appointment earlier this week because I dislike having my picture taken so much, but I actually enjoyed my session (and that s saying a lot!). Trina has a wonderful way of not simply dismissing your anxiety, but accepting and understanding it and then, gently, moving you out of it. What a gift. I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to have some lovely portraits taken.
