Family swim reservations at the pool during pandem...

Family swim reservations at the pool during pandemic have been an awesome way to get us out of the house and active. They keep the time slots to 45 min., which is kind of a bummer, but long enough to have fun and give more folks a chance to enjoy. Clean facility, no issues with social distancing, friendly staff. They have a nice indoor ice skating rink as well. We ve also used their summer camps in the past, which our kiddo loves. Just an all around great experience here.

Honestly, I feel as if we residents of Hillsborough get the best deal, because the SportsPlex is kind of like a town Plaza. I'm always seeing people I know there, and it's always humming with activity. There are many more offerings than I have time to take advantage of, but I use the fitness room, and sometimes go skating. One of these days, I'll take in a yoga class, too. The setting is bucolic, with the lovely ponds where herons sometimes hang out. Also there is a senior center that's always buzzing, and if you're 55+, you get a deal on membership if you do a health evaluation with them. Well worth it! Recently, my husband had a knee replacement, and it's great to be able to take him over to UNC physical therapy which is right there at the SportsPlex and get my workout in while he's in PT. I really love this place. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars: it could be run a bit better, some of the facilities needing upgrading and greater care; also the rental skates are pretty awful; and why not give a coat of paint sometimes on scuffed up walls? I also would prefer if the snack bar offered a wider variety of healthy options, and quit offering sodas and sweets. But I am a SportsPlex FAN!!!

I can only speak for the ice rink part of the facility, but having been to all the rinks in the area this is easily the best one in the triangle or triad region. Locker rooms are the best of any rink I've ever been to and the care and maintenance of the ice is top notch.

Fun place to learn how to ice skate. They have good skates for all shoe sizes and offer cool high chair looking items to help kids learn to skate. Good pool and some fun summer programming for kids as well.

Great ice skating rink. Nice amenities. Skates were in great repair along with the learners. Very nice exercise area along with group exercise room. Good selection of snacks. Parking lot is a little small and a car was broken into while we were there.

I had my daughter's 7th birthday party here. They forgot half of the food we ordered, the host for the party was horrible. Instead of enjoying the party we we're hosting and cleaning up after everyone.

I'm so thankful for Sports Plex after-school care. I am able to work because of the safe care and various programs they offer my son. It is my pleasure to be apart of a great program with reasonable prices. Thanks to all of the great staff members of the after-school program. CRobinson

This review pertains to their birthday parties. We booked a party package for 10 kids with swimming afterwards. The good: The woman at the front desk was very warm and friendly; our room attendant was nice but other than bringing the food in, they don't do anything party-related; the 'party room' had fun bean bag chairs and it did have our requested colors for the table cloth and plates/cups; the pool itself was awesome; the girls locker room was clean. The not-so-good: The party room had no music or even speakers to bluetooth into - not a huge deal (we just used our phone) but it was the opposite of a "party atmosphere"; the facility had nothing to light candles with - we should have known to bring matches but we are renting a birthday party package so they should have this on hand and it was frustrating searching all over for a lighter and coming up with nothing; and the absolute worst part was the lifeguard.
He had reddish hair and a beard and there were 15+ kids in the pool and he walked away at least 4 times in 2 hours - actually walked out of the pool area (into an office) or he walked down to the other part of the pool. There were times when he was not watching the kids for at least 5 minutes. I basically stood at the pool's edge for most of the party because I was responsible for 9 of these children and I felt the life guard was not reliable. Clearly they need more than one lifeguard on duty, with one being dedicated to the open swim area.

There is no denying the family-friendly atmosphere at the Sportsplex. There are activities for all ages and the capacity to not feel like you're not wading through people. Our two-year-old loves their child care, and I love not feeling pressured while I work out. Look for discounts on membership from your employer or even randomly from your insurance provider as they provide a really great value for the facilities.

Have both a 25-yard, 10-lane competition pool (for lap swimmers, swim teams, and water polo teams) and a recreation pool for splashing around. Lap pool water is well maintained - clear, clean, and not overly chlorinated. The lap pool depth is at least 6 feet, i.e. over most people's heads, but rec pool has varying depths for all ages, water basketball, water jogging, and the like. Never have failed in getting a lap lane, but they do have occasional swim meets that use all the lanes - check the on-line schedule for dates / times. Front desk staff is friendly and helpful. Locker rooms and showers are older, but kept clean. You can rent a locker or just use the daily lockers - bring your own lock. Have swim suit spin-dryer. Can buy lap swim passes and your info is kept on-line so you don't have to carry physical pass punch cards with you, which is nice.

Would it really kill you to put on your website that your pool is closed for renovations???!!!The website said it was open till 10pm so I drove 30 minutes just to find a pile a rubble and construction.

Long time member of the Sportsplex and use the pool multiple times a week. This pool caters to the swim teams and is a nice facility but if you swim in the evening due to working and not able to swim before work then it is always a challenge to get a lane. Many times there are no lanes due to the swim teams and the schedule is not always accurate due to other groups taking lanes. So if you are a swim team member or can swim during the middle of the day then it is very convenient but if you need to swim in the evening then you will have a headache trying to get a lane.

Other than a very evil and rude Vietnam Vet that was there during the for the children, my visit was great, also the little girl that worked at the snack bar could borrow some manners and a personality from someone, she's also very rude... But I love the sports plex I've been going there 20 years, I'm a member of the gym.

A great place to go skating. Nicest rink in the Triangle. Has a good adult hockey league. The pool change rooms are a little gross, but the pool is OK. Beware of the skate rentals, they are dull and some are VERY old!

I think the Orange County Sportsplex has really upped its game to competition s levels with the new field house and the renovated ice rink area. I do think the pool is very disgusting though and needs new blocks, pool floor, new deck, new scoreboard, and a fresh paint job in my opinion. Sportsplex is about 15 years old and is making many changes, which I love, I am very excited to see the turnout after this summer s renovation to the pool area.

Did not like it, got looped into an annual contract. They did not explain that I could have paid on an "as use" or daily policy, Then they charged me an $85 cancellation fee and plus I had to pay for an extra month ( 30 day notice). Then they kept charging me long after I cancelled. Not happy. Would never go down there again!

Nice, multi purpose facility. The building and everything inside has some age on it, but still a nice place. The gym overlooks the ice rink which makes it neat to run on the treadmill while watching people ice skate.

We like the place very much. Its kid corner has long hours and its staff are very nice. My kids like to stay there. The skating ring, swimming pool and workout place are well maintained. The place is newly expanded and renovated. They have added soccer field, basket ball and volley ball fields. New after school area and workout gym are also impressive.

Wonderful, dedicated teachers in the exercise classes! The energy is so positive and encouraging, and the instructors are very approachable. You can really find the support you need to maintain an ongoing fitness regimen. A great resource for families -- the swimming and ice skating have been wonderful ways to have family time and get my children involved in fun physical activity. The weight training and treadmill attract all ages and all levels of fitness. You'll fit right in!
