Loved this place ! My b.f and I came after going to the LACMA museum. It is a short 6 minute drive from the museum just saying its a good dinner after a nice time at the museum . Our server was May , she was really nice ! For starters we had the salmon scotch egg . My b.f had the steak frites and I had the lamb shank both really good ! The prices are fair for such well prepared and fresh cooked meals. We also stayed after dinner sat on their couch and enjoyed some drinks . The decore made me feel as if I was away from L.A in a nice little cozy home in Ireland ...Just a great experience overall.

Really enjoyed this place when visiting LA. Shepard's pie was good and there always seemed to be some decent local act performing there. I was sad to see it was permanently closed when I looked it up.

It's always hard to isolate the restaurant from the company, but here. We. Go. I dropped by for a little Friday fun and it was an absolute blast. Bartenders are attentive, accommodating and really funny. I recommend posting up in a booth with a handful of conversationalists and let fun drive you through the night. I also never thought I'd say this but the pickle juice is some sweet sweet nectar.

Sunday Night Bar Review

Sunday Night Bar Review

Valet parking is limited and stacked within the lot. Street parking's available, but watch for the streets that requires residential permits. No Happy Hour, hopefully that will change in the near future.

Big Island bar area with 3 small booths (fits a party of 4) at the end. Reservation seems difficult to honor where we made a 6pm reservation where the party didn't get situated till 8pm. There's fault on both sides, but a two hour difference seems a bit extreme. Luckily, Tom Bergin's cares about their customer service and provided some appetizers for us during our wait.

There are plenty of variety of whiskey here that average out about $8 for a glass of neat. The cocktail average out about $10-12. The most famous drink here is their Irish Coffee; didn't get it since I'm not a big coffee drinker. What I did try was their Cooper Union, QUALITY and worth the $12. The drink includes: Red Breast, St Germaine, Orange Blossom, Islay Scotch. It's easy to sip even for a non-whiskey drinkers.

Fish and Chips: 4 star - 3 piece of crispy fried fish on top of a basket of thick fries. The fish tasted fresh and the fries were crisp...flavor and texture was in this order making it one of the best fish and chips I had in Los Angeles.

Shepard's Pie/Mushroom Pie: I ordered both pies, which was quite similar. One was with chunks of beef and the other one was with mushroom. The dish was more soupy than expected and quite small. Imagine a soup with either beef or soup and topped off with a thick layer of mashed potatoes. (3-stars)

Guiness Float: Sorta gross since the ice cream tasted bitter and old. The dessert drink came in a small taster glass. It wasn't expensive ($5). (1 star)

Coconut Cream Pie: Out of the ball park good and I don't even like coconut (5-star). The cream and the crunchy flakes of coconut was a great balance along with the tasty crust. Enough to share, get it!

Bread Pudding: Tasted overcooked...the pudding was dry and lacked creaminess. Wasn't impressed (2-stars)

Vibe: Crowd is from late 20s to 50s, a good mix. Very Casual and what you imagine what an Irish bar would be like; background music and 3 bartenders on a Sunday night. Overall, food had some hits and misses--service (3 1/2 stars). Till next time I crave for some Fish N' Chips!

Fun little Irish Pub near the Miracle Mile.

Fun little Irish Pub near the Miracle Mile.
Service and Food much improved with the new ownership in 2013 and the remodel opened up a little bit more space and kept all of the charm of the place.
Wont appeal to everyone but if you want some decent food and a good drink - not a bad place at all!

Maybe it's the shamrocks. The old sign reminding you it's a "Thoroughbred Club." Or possibly the horseshoe bar in the middle of the common room. But Tom Bergin's is a Los Angeles classic, through and through.

It's fame comes from the various worlds that comprise the city. On one hand it's an old Hollywood hangout, a safehouse far removed from Sunset Blvd where the famous can have a casual drunk. It's a bastion of East Coast / Irish drinking culture, recalling the public houses and their communal feeling. It competes with the Buena Vista in San Francisco for introducing the Irish coffee to the USA, a claim controversial enough to keep the taste test alive. The pour of Guiness here is phenomenal, the selection of Irish whiskey perfect, and the bar bites are essential to keeping a table. The traditional Irish fare is on point as well, just enough to keep you going. Order with confidence.

The horseshoe bar is fantastic. It keeps people bumping into, rubbing shoulders, stepping on the toes of people around them. Some say it's the inspiration for Cheers. I say it's the reason we go to drink - to find community, to meet like minded people, to buy a drink for someone I just met. One of the best, safest, and greatest places in the city.

Great vibes and amazing drinks. Enjoyed the atmosphere from beginning to end. It is a little loud but the seating provides for quality conversations. Didn't eat here but the drinks were worth the ride to studio city.

Normally this was a Love It, but they recently changed and went away from the fancy dive Irish Restaurant. They have very few Irish food items now and they are horrible (i always looked forward to eating here before). Also drink prices went up too. This was our slightly splurge Happy Hour place and now with 2 people 2 drinks and some food you leave with a very light wallet....

So excited that it is going to reopen. Want to call to make reservations need a telephone number.

My husband and I went to Tom Bergins over the past 30 years. When friends and relatives came to town they always wanted to go to Bergins . Was so sad that it closed a few times but elated that it s re-opened or re-opening. No place like it!

About Tom Bergin's Tavern

Tom Bergin's Tavern is a legendary Irish pub located in Los Angeles, California. Established in 1936, this iconic establishment has been serving up delicious food and drinks to locals and visitors alike for over 80 years. With its cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and extensive menu of classic pub fare, Tom Bergin's Tavern is the perfect spot to grab a pint with friends or enjoy a hearty meal with family.

As one of the oldest Irish pubs in Los Angeles, Tom Bergin's Tavern has become a beloved institution in the city. Its warm wood-paneled walls are adorned with vintage photos and memorabilia that pay homage to its rich history. The bar itself is an impressive sight - it stretches nearly the entire length of the room and boasts an impressive selection of beers on tap.

But what really sets Tom Bergin's Tavern apart from other bars in LA is its commitment to quality food. The menu features classic pub dishes like fish and chips, shepherd's pie, and bangers and mash - all made with fresh ingredients sourced from local farms whenever possible. There are also plenty of vegetarian options available for those who prefer plant-based fare.

In addition to its regular menu items, Tom Bergin's Tavern also offers daily specials that showcase seasonal ingredients or highlight particular culinary traditions. For example, on St. Patrick's Day (a major holiday at any Irish pub), they serve up traditional corned beef and cabbage alongside live music performances by local bands.

But it's not just about the food at Tom Bergin's Tavern - this place is also known for being one of LA's best sports bars. With multiple TVs scattered throughout the space (including a giant projection screen), it's easy to catch all your favorite games while enjoying some cold brews with friends.

And speaking of brews - let's talk about beer! As mentioned earlier, Tom Bergin's Tavern has an impressive selection on tap that includes both domestic favorites like Budweiser as well as imported varieties like Guinness Stout (a must-try at any Irish pub). They also have an extensive list of bottled beers available if you're looking for something specific.

Overall, there are many reasons why people love coming back to Tom Bergin’s tavern time after time: great food; friendly service; cozy atmosphere; excellent beer selection; live music performances during special events such as St Patrick’s Day celebrations or Super Bowl parties – all these things make this place truly unique among other pubs around town!
