In 1945, after World War II, the parts damaged by the war were repaired and reopened in 1946 the following year. Subsequently, it was expanded in 1961, repaired in 1967, and advanced facilities were installed in 2003.

The Landestheater of Innsbruck really has its seat amidst Innsbruck's old town and mighty buildings. Also surrounded by the most famous buildings of Innsbruck, the Hofburg, Hofkirche and Hofgarten. This could not be better. From the building a gem.

Unfortunately, we did not have enough time to read the program and which performances are currently shown. But by driving on the tourist bus we drove past it therefore the raindrops in the picture. When we arrived from the Hungerburgbahn, we walked past the old town, the Hofburg and the Landestheater and took another picture. Maybe it works on the next visit to us to watch a performance. The star deduction is only for the "not possibility" to watch us a performance, but I am sure that it deserves the full 5 stars.

The location is excellent. Right in the city center. Beautifully appointed interior. The only minus is that during my last visit the air circulation was lacking. It was a bit too warm inside.

Classical style theater, built around 1655. It is located in front of the royal residence, and is easily reachable by car, also because it has a convenient underground parking.
Venue for concerts, works and classical artistic events in general.

The theater itself is unpretentious, but during the festival of early music, not bad opera performances are shown here. Last premiere - Meropa, opera Riccardo Throws. Elegantly set in the style of performances of the 18th century

Tyrolean State Theater Innsbruck

Tyrolean State Theater Innsbruck
Critique of dance theater

Mayerling
- The sexual act could have been represented differently in dance. In this case, there was no imagination.
- The Crown Prince was topless almost the entire performance. That was a no-go.
- There was dancing in the background. The front part of the stage was given away (absolutely) unnecessarily.
- The conflict was not worked out enough.
- The connection with the Habsburgs was addressed too little or not.
- There wasn't enough drama. That was not enough for a dance piece with the background and the promised quality.
- The love between the Crown Prince and Countess Vetsera was difficult to recognize or the feeling was not conveyed. But that would have been one of the essential core elements of the piece.
- The set, the cage, caused a small break. The solution would have been: 2 semicircles open to the front, which are closed at the end.
- Too many shots at the beginning dramatize the action unnecessarily.
- The flashback was wrong or too much for the performance because the death scene was re-enacted twice. The drama was presented to the viewer unnecessarily difficult to digest.
- The enormous potential of the substance is wasted unnecessarily.
- The story is conveyed insufficiently narratively.

Overall Mayerling was one level worse than that of the dance performance Edith Piaf of the Kammerspiele. The set design was half a disaster. The overall picture and the story - compared to Edith Piaf - were also disappointing. Overall - for the money - the performance offered is somewhere between 3 and 3.4 - at best.

Macbeth
- Exaggerated orgy of killing
- Set design (including video sequences) has little relation to the piece (also or especially if you transfer the piece into modernity). What should Macbeth have to do with Catalonia? A war zone like Syria, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen or similar, ok, but Catalonia? Cities with extremely high crime rates such as Cali, Cape Town, Valencia, Maturin, Acapulco, Caracas, ok, but Barcelona? This does not open up to me.
- too many video recordings
- The music was partly. inappropriate.
- If you can't think of anything else but a slaughter (in a video sequence) in the aisles of the Landestheater, then you should let it go. That has with creativity, art. Freedom to do nothing / little imagination, but only with boring wasteland that has reached the depths of Tartarus.

There is little to complain about in dance. But sometimes there are ballet scenes that run across all performances (Carmen, Macbeth, Mayerling, etc.) with the same pattern. The choreography sometimes seems a bit uninspired. Mentioned (exemplary) restrictions restrict the choreography in artistic and intellectual freedom.

Macbeth - as with Mayerling: grade 3-3.4. At best, since some points would have to be more important. I would rate Edith Piaf with just under 4, but these two large productions are decisive for the overall rating. Admittedly, it is productions that are difficult to implement. But that alone is not a reason for mitigation (on the contrary).

In Innsbruck, only dance dramas are performed as major productions. Why is that? Are the Tyrolean audience moody people who are humorless? Does the director project his mood onto the pieces? Does he try to reinterpret the heavy classics in order to become immortal?

The classic dramas are implemented mediocre overall (the actual dance is only a piece of the overall picture). They are torn out by smaller dance performances like Edith Piaf, which are consistently consistent.
