So far so good! I was running out of options but stumbled upon these guys and the whole process has been smooth thus far. The whole rental application and signing papers was easy and everyone was nice. I ve been living in my new apartment for about 2 months and like it so far! Would highly recommend them!

They called me the next day after I turned in my application to go back to their office and get my money. They wouldn t even process my application They re rude when they called me and refuse to go on with my application process. Also, the guy who did the showing of the property didn t even communicate with me, instead he went into his car and stayed in his car. All he said was application is in the kitchen
Everytime I go to pay HOA due for our place the ladies are EXTREMELY RUDE they do not know how to talk to people! I asked for a receipt the lady tore off the end of the money order to give to me and walked back inside. My mom called to ask for a receipt several hours later they acted like it was never paid and then said it wasn t posted! Would have give 0 stars if possible! Would not recommend for anyone to live anywhere they have anything to do with!! Absolutely sorry company!!!!
These folks keep talking about their policies, yet I could not find their policies anywhere on their web site. It would have been beneficial for me to know some of their policies before I went to look at a house. On 12-20-19 I went to look at a house and was informed that three adults could not rent a three bedroom house per THEIR policies.???? I should not have to get to their office to find out something like that. Prior to this we were interested in another house and we went to the office and were informed that the house was not available even though their website said otherwise. It was being worked on, which I understand to degree, but weeks later nothing had changed on site.
Thornburg & Associates listed and sold my house in 6 weeks for WAY more than I purchased it for! They communicated all the multiple offers and negotiations efficiently while providing me with sound advice. Couldn't be happier!
We've been given a termination of tenancy on January 28, 2019. Today a guy from ADT and Thornburg and Associates never gave us a call before ADT came to my door. Donna Thornburg said we wouldn't lose our house. Nothing but bold face liars in my opinion. Don't even attempt to get an apartment or house from this realty company. I am permanently disabled and in a power wheelchair, hospital bed and caregivers who have to keep their jobs with me. I have a spinal cord injury, gastroparesis, dysautonomia, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. My home imI living in is handicap accessible. But I can't even find a place handicap accessible. I believe they have discriminated against my disability. And against my service dog in training to.

Very bad company to rent from. They charged me for a toilet problem twice that I had already paid for and until the day I left the apartment had not been fixed, and when I refused to pay and took them the receipt, they simply took it out of my deposit, and then turned around and rented the apartment I lived in for 100 more a month than what I had been paying. So glad to not have to deal with a company like this again!
Absolutely pitiful. I called to speak to them about a home we were wishing to see and they didn t even know their sign was in the yard. Incredibly rude.
Don't be fooled by their response. They are the worst place to rent from. The staff are rude, doesn't know how to communicate, and lies. Bad service and will scam you. They are very unprofessional, pretentious, and will argue without taking any responsibility. Do NOT give them business. The low rating and bad reviews says it all.
The receptionist was fine, it was Hayden Thornburg who was rude and assumptive. He did not listen to the conversation, asked inappropriate questions, and made me feel that because I am a woman that my input did not count. Perhaps being spoiled by living in a bigger city and thinking I had the same rights as a man was where I made my first mistake??
Seems that the only people leaving one star reviews don't actually rent from Thornburg. I had no problem finding my a great house from their list of available rental properties, applying to rent it, and getting approved. I love my home, have a great relationship with everyone at Thornburg, and recommend them to everyone looking for a rental or property manager. I've never had a negative interaction. The property owner has been easy to work with too. I appreciate Thornburg and encourage everyone looking for a rental to check them out.
They are absolutely the worst and they are so rude. I called, they answered and hung the phone up, called back and got an answer with a nasty attitude. Their stuck up attitudes are ridiculous and disgusting. This isn t the first time it s happened either. I don t know what their problem is but they need a serious attitude adjustment, they sound like a bunch of bratty little girls running a business. I would give 0 stars if it would allow me to do so!
Called about renting and the woman acted snobby and basically called me poor. If i could give a 0 star i would. Its not my fault you hate your life lady.
I called this office searching for apartment options and was hung up on by the receptionist twice. The third time I called and requested a manager who was supposedly the VP of the company and he offered a referral to another apartment lister, he then gave me the wrong number to the office. I would not recommend this company if this is how they believe they should conduct their business.
I have been renting an apartment that is managed by Thornburg & Associates for more than seven years. So far, I have not had any complaints. I pay my rent at their office every month and the office personnel has always been very kind and helpful to me.
The office personal are rude and inept the company is unwilling to work with you even when you are willing to pay to expedite the process. Wouldn't recommend.
Hayden is a very dishonest man and I would leave a 0 star rating if that was possible. Hayden is a sorry and dirty realtor. I would not recommend Him or this company to anyone.
I m 34 and have never missed a rent payment. Don t smoke, don t drink, don t do drugs and don t have any pets. But they denied me because they decided I don t make enough money. Who do you think you are!?
I understand mitigating risk but you never bothered contacting any past landlords to check my history, just a nope you re too poor for us.
Well I suggest getting your own house in order because judging from the reviews I ve read and your rating you ve got bigger things to worry about then my budgeting.
My family and I just moved to Hickory, NC. We sold our home on the West Coast and chose this area because we have family here. We were told that we are not eligible to rent a home because we have not been on the job for six months. We just moved here and offered to pay the entire 12 month lease up front; all at once. We were still denied. There are renters all over the country who can't even pay rent right now because of COVID-19, and you would think that someone would gladly accept these terms. We can easily pass a background check, credit check, or any other check that needs to take place, without any issue. We are a family of three and have NO pets. What a welcome this has been. I am only choosing ONE star because it is not possible to choose ZERO.
Suppose to make $700 a week to rent 650$ apartment. If I make that much I would buy a house They wanted me to rent ghetto studio. Their unit for 500$ and under are poor quality with carpet stain. Racist as hell!
Donna recently managed a property I purchased, when I asked if she could continue to manage the property she agreed and put me on a waiting list for 7 days. I called several times and she agreed she would handle the property (several times). Last minute (today) I called to confirm appointment for signing and she informed me that she would not be able to to manage this property. I could have gotten an answer day one but Donna herself gave me the run-around. I hope this was solely a professional decision and nothing personal as I never was rude or unreasonable in my request to utilize Donna's services but she seemed displeased with me as a person. Either way I would highly recommend staying away from Thornburg & Accociastes and using another Property Management Company as this Company is not honest or puntucal and very misleading.
I use to rent from this company. I am so dissapointed in the way they handled me moving out. My deposit was kept and i cleaned the home i was renting from them. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
This company would say they had houses available then when I got to the office in person they would say they don't have any available. I waited over 3 weeks for an apartment to be ready asked the woman on the phone if I could see it when I got there she said I had to make an appointment but didn't say that in the phone call. I know they have nice places but they kept sending me to runned down places... Very unprofessional.
The staff is very mean and always never want to rent me anything. They always tell me they rented it when they havent ( i have had someone call to see if they rented it)and there answer is always yes its still available.. I wonder if its a race thing since im hispanic. Im not really sure but i will take my money else where
If I could give no stars, I would. I will never recommend this realty company to anyone looking for places in Catawba County. First things first, the owner doesn't stand by her "Application Requirements". It says that your application will not be reviewed unless you have the application fee, 2 forms of identification, and a security deposit. When we went in yesterday to put everything down (application + the security deposit) the owner said that they don't stick to that policy and that it is first come first serve, even though it clearly states you have to have ALL of the requirements for your application to even be processed. So, she basically told us that she was going to give it to the woman that put in the application first, even though she had no deposit on it whatsoever, that we shouldn't even put our applications in for that particular apartment. Second, after going to look at a different property (since the other one has wrongly been given away at this point) we proceed to turn in our applications. The owner then starts looking through them and starts to make rude and judgemental comments on my commute to work every day (which as long as I pay my bills on time, why does it matter how long I commute to and from work?). After receiving the rude comments,from dare I say the idiotic owner who CANNOT read an application correctly apparently, we decided we did not feel comfortable giving this company our $80 (for 2 applications) for her to most likely deny them, mostly because she had made up her mind that she did NOT want us as tenants, even though we had been nothing but nice and understanding. So much wrong with this company, not professional AT ALL.
I didn t get the name of the woman we spoke too today but she was so so sweet and patient with us. She answered all of our questions and she did a great job making us feel secure with going to Thornburg and Associates for our next apartment. I m waiting to hear back about my application, but she also did a great job with letting me know what to expect and gave me a general time frame for the back ground checks to get back. Super excited and really looking forward to doing business with them!
Literally got turned down because of 3 adults. So they would rather have 5 little hellian kids running around the rental destroying it than to 3 hard working you'd adults just trying to make there dreams work. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE
I am 54, I have perfect credit and a large amount of money on hand, but since I don't have current proof of income, they could not even talk to me, even if I paid a year in advance , perfect credit for the last 23 years, they say because of lack of proof of income no matter what your credit is no matter how much you're willing to put down it's a red flag, well I understand all that, but I also understand the fact that in this community businesses stand together, any business that supports a business that mistreats their clients or their people, needs to go out of business
I called and spoke to Mr Thornburg about a property today and he was very curt with me without the least little bit of friendliness or courtesy. Of course I might be a little grumpy too if the only way I could get a 5-star review was to write it for myself.
Yeah Mr. Thornburg, I been reading over your Google Reviews, that sounds pretty low you would expect someone that is handicapped to move in a set time, even if it is the Law, did you know there is such a thing as the letter of the Law and exception to the Law. Sounds to me you could had contacted her earlier then Jan 28th to on this, it sounds like you and the owner expect her out Feb 28th, know the law and the math. To give her more time to find a place then, it does take longer for the Handicapped to find a place. And living in North Carolina myself, I see the Rental Market is lousy, I have been looking myself and Catawba County and Lincoln County look bad for places at budget Rental prices. And why did Donna lie to her that she could stay there, then you terminate her out of her home? Sounds lousy to me! You know there is more to the Law then you act here. There are ADA and HUD Laws that protect her, because she is Handicapped. Do you release not giving her the time needed can cause you all months of getting her out of the house. I would say if things dont go as God says, you will get a big smear on our name and business. Its not nice or Godly to play God and bully the Handicapped around!!
Service is incredible, willing to really go over and beyond for the tenant. Many rental companies don t care about their tenants it s all about money, but with Thornburg and Associates not only do I feel cared for but I feel like family. If you re looking to rent or have rental property this company will change your life like they have mine.
I'm Pauletta me an my husband recently got new jobs in the Catwaba/hickory area ( him a newton police officer an I a HR rep) I called an asked about at least several apartments in the area. Each time I was rudely told its was not available an hung up on. Frustrated at not being able to find a apartment I spoke to my husband about it (who is white an I am black). So my husband called an asked about several of the properties I inquired on earlier. 2 of the 3 were still available an the receptionist was very helpful an also directed him to other properties in the area, but I was told non were available. So just to double check again I called again after my husband to see maybe THORNBURG ASSOCIATION was mistaken it may have been a error but yet again I was told non were available. But luckily me an my husband were smart to record our last two conversations. An we have been in contact with channel 9 about this discrimination.
I had all the means necessary to carry out my goal Hayden is untrustworthy and a liar. Hayden deserves much worse than a negative review! But I m a better man than you are. Hayden runs a business that s dirty and unethical!

I went in and met with Hayden around investment opportunities in the single and multi-unit space. He went through multiple options with me and set a solid plan in place for my investment goals. In addition, Hayden is just an all around good guy that you can trust. Highly recommend.
My sister and I came today to look at a house because she is trying to relocate. She made an hour and a half trip down and we were not made aware on the phone that the deposit had to be cash. We ran to a cashpoints which is 2 miles away, for the cash and the women at the desk told her that 15 min was to long and that someone took the key. She was condescending and very very very rude. No wonder the rating on this place is so low. I wouldn t even give them one star.
After reading other reviews, I have to tell of my experience with Thornburg & Associates. We were currently living in our apartment when Thornburg & Associates took over management. Hayden came by to introduce himself and go over some paperwork. Hayden was incredibly patient with our young children, did his best to make sure everything in the apartment was in working order, and was just a great guy to be around. I usually stop in the office to pay, and have never had a negative experience. Staff is ALWAYS professional and friendly. As far as maintenance goes, they are on it! Had a knock on my door from a repairman who was there to check the air conditioning because the gentleman who maintained the lawn advised one of the units was making sounds. Speaking of the gentleman who maintains the lawn, while there may be different people at different properties, this gentleman and his wife are some of the friendliest people I have met! I do recommend Thornburg & Associates!
I was so sad to call about a rental that would have been perfect for my family; only to be informed that they will ONLY allow 2 adults in a rental property. This is an absurd restriction for multiple reasons. However, for me it's awful because my mother is disabled and lives with myself, my husband and our 3 year old. The office staff was very rude about my questioning of the situation. I'm not sure if they are aware that this violates the Disability Act and Fair Housing Act.
This place of living is the worst rental company to rent from, they don t have a maintenance man that comes out when something is wrong in the apartment. I stayed in 1059 sycamore apartment or whatever it s called, they give you a report sheet to fill out and turn in but they don t not follow up on the things that s needed to be fixed. The maintenance man left the back screen door down, the second bedroom closet door and the downstairs closet door down, the attic door stayed down and water started leaking so I had to put a bucket up underneath the leaking because the maintenance man never came my whole year of the lease agreement. They share confidential information with other tenants. Donna Thrornburg put a eviction notice out on the last month of me living there, she put it out before the 15th of the month but in the lease it states that the is the day that the eviction will be submitted. I was also charged for blinds falling a light bulb on the front porch that never worked and stove light......... This woman is the worst person in the world who anybody could rent from, she lies and etc. Somehow your supposed to fill out a work order sheet prior to moving in, as I supposedly owe Thornburg & Associates money from what the maintenance man didn t do she couldn t find the work orders that s on file. Supposedly the costs of the damage was $823 more than the apartment was worth she took and told me that I was not getting my $525 deposit back from her, somehow, someway I owe Thornburg & Associates $300. She s a liar and a thief nothing else but that she will try and take you too court but once she has realized that she can t win then she ll want to make a agreement for you to pay court cost and she ll drop the eviction notice she and Miller & Associates are bad for trying to take people to court but never winning so they ll do that to scare you but really they can t afford to go to court. Out of all the workers that work there the front desk lady Lisa Setzer is the only honest one the others are nothing but prejudice. And if there was way I couldn t give them a star I seriously wouldn t.
Extremely rude staff. They don t allow pets, but they do allow 4 kids and 3 different families in a 3BR apartment. A synopsis of our neighbors; constant yelling in a foreign language, hearing the kids get hit, and hearing kids cry all. night. long.... plus the stomping all night long. Don t forget the trumpet practice at 10pm or maybe a saxophone? I can t tell!! You can t have a dog/cat but apparently it s acceptable to beat and yell at kids to the point your neighbors can t sleep. Big yikes.
