I don't think it's overpriced.

I don't think it's overpriced.
Maybe you're used to the mass produced stuff.
This is handmade, "artisan" chocolate, each piece made by hand

I wanted to send a friend some chocolates for her birthday and googled "nearby chocolate." Xocolate Bar, at 1709 Solano, came up and I decided to give it a try. It's a beautiful store, with an absolutely amazing and gorgeous array of chocolate of all kinds, both locally made and from all over the world, all labeled Free Trade. The prices are reasonable and the house-made chocolates are works of art. If you haven't tried it, by all means do.

While I have never actually been to the shop my boyfriend has been bringing me chocolates from here for several years. I love them so much that I thought it was time share my love & help you make the choice to go! The Buddha's are by far my favorite! (Just shared with my sister & said you can have any one but a Buddha) Just go, try, enjoy & share. You can never go wrong with these chocolates!

Absolutely exquisite small batch chocolate fineries made from excellent source chocolate, with a creative menu, made by locals. A true Artisan chocolate experience without the Hipster snark that often goes along with finer foods around here.
I highly recommend this place!
Yours Truly,

A real chocolate snob and refugee from bittersweet chocolate shop on College.

P. S. It is also situated directly next door to my new favorite food spot in the East Bay for American food, Riveter Cafe, home of the best bacon lettuce tomato sandwich I have had in decades.

The chocolate *sounds* good from the description, but I was sorely disappointed upon biting into them, especially for how much they cost. The chocolate on the truffles is much too thick and overpowers any taste from the fillings that are in there. They aren t pleasant to eat. If they got better at their craft and the process, I think that it can be much better. I m a chocolate gourmand and very picky, so this review is for people like me who expect better quality and craftsmanship when paying such prices. I don t like waxy chocolate. That being said, if you re used to eating hershey s or Ghiradelli, this will be gourmet for you. Instead of going here, I suggest heading over to Casa de Chocolate on Ashby Ave in Berkeley. MUCH better!!! Their truffles and caramels are divine!

If I had to use one word to describe this place it would have to be mouthwatering. This place is amazing to say the least. The chocolate bars are a must try (every flavor is amazing). These would be great gifts or treats for an office party for the chocoholics we all know and love
