The Wyndgate Country Club Review

The food was pretty darn good. I am still a little amazed that the rest of the food was so good, but they make a terrible coleslaw! And I had to laugh at the waitress who pronounced "St Loius" as "St Lou-ey". But all in all, if you have the opportunity to try this place out, do it.

If you're looking for an outdoor ceremony, you can't beat the view of rolling hills, the subtle sound of the creek, and the charm of the farmhouse all surrounding the ceremony site.

Beyond the venue itself, you'll love Olivia. She's much more than a catering manager-- she'll put you completely at ease about your entire wedding knowing she's keeping track of everything. We had a number of custom details, including raw bar served in an actual row boat, and Olivia made it all come together beautifully.

Beautiful course, large greens, but also very challenging. A lot of long drives. Staff was very personal and helpful.

We sat on the patio and it was a bit chilly. Our server was very gracious and offered to move us inside, but we toughed it out. However, many of our meals arrives missing items or made incorrectly. Our server was very apologetic, but it was a ridiculous how many errors were made. As you can see, the meals look wonderful.

Even though they weren't busy it took about an hour to get our food. It's a shame too, because it tasted great and our service was great.

This review is for the Wyndgate as a venue for a wedding ceremony and reception.

IT WAS FANTASTIC! We had a blast, the guests had a blast, it was truly wonderful. Olivia, the coordinator we worked with, was very responsive and approachable. She worked with us to get things just the way we wanted.

Here's a run down of the coolest parts:
1. The wedding party and parents got ready in the locker rooms (which are shared with club members, but not that crowded on Saturday mornings!). The men even had little name tags on lockers!
2. We were able to bring stuff the day before to set up (not always available, depending on their schedule)
3. Olivia was there for the rehearsal and for the big day.
4. We had the whole club house ground level for our wedding. Including a large dining room, dessert area with some seating/standing tables, a lounge area with couches, and a dancefloor/band area. The different rooms provided a really cool atmosphere, and people could go where they liked. Don't like loud music? Don't go in the dancefloor room!
5. I'm lactose intolerant, and the chef accommodated plus 100. All my food was dairy free, there were dairy free desserts, etc.! They also accommodated guests with shellfish allergies, gluten allergies, etc. FABULOUS.

I definitely suggest looking into them. They are a bit pricy for southeast Michigan, but not the most expensive. If you're looking at a wedding of more than 150 guests and have a meaty enough budget - look them up. It runs around the $100/guest level - plus or minus depending on what you pick for food, package level, etc.

I had my reception at The Wyndgate in March of 2011. It was the perfect place to celebrate our Wedding! Not only was everything at The Wyndgate absolutley gorgeous, the food was probably the best food I have ever had. My enire family still talks about it to this day. We served the Chick En Croute and Filet Mignon.

Olivia really took charge and made special effort to make it the best day of our lives. She was there the entire day, from the pictures beforehand to the very last dance. She made it her personal mission to make sure me and my groom did not see each other while we were both ranging throughout the venue for pictures. Then was always there if ever anything was needed and never forgot to remind us to take everything in because it all goes so fast.

The Wyndgate is a hidden secret and I am proud to say that our wedding was the best, most beautiful wedding I have ever been to because of our decision to have it their. I would recommend it to anyone getting married, not only will your wedding be amazing, but it will be original too.

Clubhouse Manager Rebecca Miller is a highly rude, pompous individual who obviously talks down to a person of color even though the person is overwhelmingly more intellectually competent than she. Given her lack of social skills to appropriately speak to a non white person, she is definitely where she belongs, which is locked away in an exclusive members only country club environment which she has blatantly represented with her conduct as racially intimidating. I will definitely spread the word via my vast reach of social media.

Had our engagement dinner in the Washington and Adams dining room. Jordan met with me several times and made sure all details were covered. She took my decor and thoughts and turned it all into a beautiful reality. The clubhouse manager is amazing as well as all the wait staff!! Would recommend this venue for any custom event you'd like to host!

Venue: I want to start with The Wyndgate was the only venue I considered, didn't have or want to look around because I have been there for many personal events, dining, parties, etc,. (Just not a wedding) And I knew based on those previous experiences, the Wyndgate was my venue of choice.

The landscape and grounds are absolutely beautiful especially the farmhouse. While my ceremony did not take place at the Wyndgate (which if it did would have been at the farmhouse). I did have my cocktail hour at the farmhouse. My guests loved the view!! I got so many complements on this setup and landscape.

I had about 250 guests so we filled up the whole place. I loved not being "stuck" in the main dining room. My guests could walk around to the dance floor which was in the Jefferson & Adams room where my sundae bar and cake was. (I think I got the rooms right. )

Staff: Unfortunately, every brides worst nightmare, the weather was not in my favor. Wedding day was a misty, rainy day in May. However, the staff was absolutely awesome! All my guests were provided with umbrellas at the cocktail hour outside at the farmhouse. They made it work without a hitch. Staff was great at transporting the guests from main building to farmhouse via golf carts, etc. Bartenders and servers were great as well.

Food: All I can say is super yummy. No complaints there! Olivia helped us with our menu; she knows it inside and out. I had a "bridal party only" cocktail hour during pictures and wanted "finger foods", get the sweet potato fries, you won't be disappointed!! For entrees I had filet and salmon; I had guests say it was the best salmon they ever had! The way the chef and staff present the food is cool too. The Chef personally came out to greet me and my husband.

Olivia: I knew no matter what crisis occurred and in my case it was the weather, I was 110% confident she would handle it. I got to know her and I felt she got to know me well too in order to understand and know what I would or wouldn't want. She is absolutely awesome at her job!! Days before my wedding, I could always reach her. She made me feel that no question was too small or irrelevant. It's also so cute that she coordinates her outfit with the wedding colors. She organizes everything and I was at ease all night. She worked well with all my other vendors, especially my florist and my band.

I highly recommend the Wyndgate for your wedding. Its an experience you won't forget or regret!!! Thanks SO much!!

I knew when we walked into the Wyndgate County Club that this was the perfect choice for my daughters wedding. After sitting down with Olivia the Coordinator we knew this was the perfect venue. She not only made us feel like family, she offered help in every area of planning the perfect day. The outstanding Staff, the amazing ceremony site, the five star menu and the feel of family is overwhelming. Thank you Olivia and the Wyndgate family for opening your venue to us. I would highly recommend this venue!!!

We were at the restaurant for a funeral lunch. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was wonderful.

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Wyndgate Country Club in April of 2012 and it was absolutely perfect. The staff; especially Oliva Thomas, were very helpful and accommodating to our wishes. The night went by flawlessly. The atmosphere, the location and the food was fabulous. I would highly recommend Wyndgate in the future.

Attended the Pastor's Masters Golf Tournament. We had a Wonderful time. Beautiful golf course.

Here for a charity event here and can't say enough great things. The course is beyond belief. Absolutely unreal and very well cared for. The staff is second to none.

The Wyndgate did an unbelievable job of making our day we will never forget. The venue was so unique and it was like nothing we had seen before. Our guests thought it was so fun to have to dinner in one place and the dancing/party in a different section. Both the guys and girls in the wedding party were allowed to use the locker room which made the day perfect. All the members at the club would come in and were all so excited and generous!!

The food was so good! All of our guests were very happy with how everything tasted. Dinner was very special for the wedding party because the head chief came out and served us and the wedding party first. We had some picky guests when it came to food. For example vegans or guests who liked their meat well done. The Wyndgate was able to accommodate for all of these people and make special meals for them. The desert bar was unique as well. Many of our guests had never seen that before. The pastry chef pays attention to detail and makes sure there is a huge variety. Everything was laid out perfectly and some of our guests spent more time in the desert room then on the dance floor! The bars were set up well. I have been to wedding before where you are waiting in line for a drink but none of our guests ever had to wait for a drink. They were very efficient in serving everyone!

We chose to have our ceremony at the Wyndgate as well. The grounds were beautiful and guests knew they were walking into something special. The ceremony site is breathtaking and we didn t find anything close to it when we were looking. The grounds made for some beautiful pictures and we were lucky to have amazing weather there that day as well. The sun coming through overlooking the course was picture perfect!

There are no words to describe Olivia. She is a lifesaver when it comes to wedding planning. She truly has a passion for what she does and makes sure that the bride and groom have no worries leading up to that day, along with mom and dad. Being the bride, I would try to ask her questions as to what time it was that day to make sure we didn t get behind, but she kept telling me don t worry about it and she would make sure everything would be on time! And it was! She did way more then what her job description is. She makes sure everything is laid out perfectly and coordinates with all of the vendors to make sure everything is flawless. I really believe if it wasn t for her, our day would have not gone as smoothly as it did.

The Wyndgate was absolutely the perfect place for our wedding all around and I would highly recommend it to anyone! It is so unique and 5 stars all around! You will not find another place similar to it!

It's an OK course. The back 9 needs some help, but the front was great.

I attended a fundraising event for Operation Injured Soldier here and was astounded by the grounds, food, and most importantly the staff. Not being a golfer, I can't comment on the course's playability but it is beautiful to look at. I spent the day at the thirteenth green and found it to be one of the most peaceful places I've ever been.

Tough but fair course. If you can hit the fairway and get close to your yardage it can still be a challenge. Long par 3s from the blue tees. Greens were perfect

Dinner: served on a plastic serving dish covered with wax paper. Soggy fish and chips spoiled my appetite.

The perfect place to get married! Well, we thought so at least. The property was gorgeous, Olivia made the process a breeze, and our guests raved about it. Huge fan.

Great food, awesome atmosphere and a incredible course.

We had our ceremony and reception at The Wyndgate in July 2012, and it was perfect! Olivia was absolutely amazing throughout the entire process she and her staff did everything thing they could to accommodate our requests and went above and beyond. She definitely put me at ease and was there first thing the morning of until after the party ended - I had no worries that day. She even dressed to match the colors of our wedding! The ceremony site is absolutely gorgeous and so are all the spots throughout the golf course for pictures. Everyone raved about the food and loved the different rooms for eating, dancing, and just hanging out. Thank you Olivia and The Wyndgate for making our wedding a dream come true!

We held our wedding reception at the Wyndgate and were extremely pleased with how everything turned out.

The chef's selection of hors d'oeuvres, dinner and assorted desserts was absolutely delicious and the presentation was immaculate. All our guests were served promptly and the servers were very friendly.

Everyone we encountered at the Wyndgate was very friendly and helpful. They took our needs into consideration and were always available. They all worked well as a team and made sure our wedding day was exceptional.

The grounds at the Wyndgate are immaculately kept and made for beautiful wedding pictures. There is a large variety of locations for taking pictures.

Olivia is the ideal wedding planner. Her attention to detail and organization made for a flawless day. She personally made sure everything was perfect while working with our vendors, from the centerpieces to the linens. She definitely loves what she does and it reflects in her work; we could not have been more pleased to have her plan our special day.

I only play here in the Yatooma Outing. Great condition but not a course for the weak. Fortunately, I play with two good golfers and i am allowed to hit from the senior tees.

We had our Persian wedding including ceremony and reception at the Wyndgate Country Club in August 2013. The beautiful memory of that day is still as fresh as yesterday in our minds. The Wyndgate s staff and more significantly Olivia (Wyndgate s event coordinator) were the reason that made our day special just as we dreamed of, which is exactly what every couple demands on their wedding day! They went above and beyond our expectations! Olivia did an excellent job for us consistently from the first day we talked to her to the last minutes of the wedding. Everyone in our wedding, from any nationality, absolutely admired the beauty of Wyndgate building and the grounds. The food was amazing and our guests are still talking about how delicious the food was. The cook accommodated our requested recipe masterfully.

Thank you very much for all your help and efforts to give us a one of a kind experience at Wyndgate.

Wyndgate needs to apologize for it's inexcusable treatment of Richard Dawkins and the members of the local Center For Inquiry. Until then, please play golf somewhere else. Discrimination should not tolerated.

The food was very good. The bartenders were less than friendly.

Absolutely divine. Wonderful venue for a Bridal shower. Everything is quite elegant, the staff is attentive and professional. Great food presentation. Complimentary valet is speedy.

We very much enjoyed our wedding reception at the Wyndgate! We looked at other venues before choosing the Wyndgate, but found that the Wyndgate was more flexible, more affordable, and were eager to meet our needs. Olivia was terrific to work with, and saw to it that everything was taken care of on our day. The grounds were beautiful, the staff was pleasant to all of our guests, and the food was exceptional! Even though our wedding was two years ago, I still receive compliments about the reception - how beautiful it was and how much fun was had!

P.S. It's really a shame that some "Google User" has chosen to criticize this club over and over to knock down the "star" rating. Our experience at the Wyndgate was nothing but positive. We would do it all over again and not change a thing!

Not there to golf but to eat. Good place for a cool drink and eats with view of course.

It s a lovely private country club. The amenities are very practical and nothing short of everything you expect and need. The staff are very competent, well mannered and happy to assist with a smile.

You can valet if you like and probably should because the parking is a bit of a walk. The scenery is perfectly manicured and you ll definitely enjoy the flowers, the lawns and the trees not to mention some of the wildlife too.

Depending on where you live you might find it more direct to take a dirt road or avoid the dirt road and drive the long way around to the entrance.

I found this venue while looking for a place to book my wedding. I had never heard of it and had to book it without seeing it as I live out of town, so I had to rely on reviews and photos only. I have to say that I do not regret a second. This venue is absolutely stunning and the staff is so amazing! My colors went beautifully with the decor but honestly you do not even need to decorate for your event because this place is so gorgeous it speaks for itself! Jordan Shields and Rebecca Miller are fabulous to work with and two of the most amazing venue coordinators ever! I am a wedding coordinator myself and I have to say that I loved every second of working with them. The food was absolutely delicious. I had a tasting and couldn't decide between different dishes because they were all so good! I had the wedding of my dreams and I owe a lot of credit to the staff and this venue!

I chose the Wyndgate as my wedding venue for both the ceremony and reception, and I couldn't have been happier about my choice!

Everything was beautiful and turned out exactly how I envisioned it to be. We worked with Olivia, the event coordinator for Wyndgate. She was awesome to work with planning the event and also so helpful the day of. Her professionalism and enthusiastic personality really kept me at ease throughout the whole process.

The outdoor ceremony site at the Wyndgate is AMAZING!!! There are no other outside venues in metro Detroit that can compare to it. The area where the vows take place looks over the beautifully maintained golf course. There is no need to spend money on decorations or flowers because the area is already landscaped to perfection.

The food and wine that the club offers is delicious. We chose to have the New York strip and the chicken en croute for our main dish. We still have guests complimenting on how good the food was.

I would highly recommend Wyndgate as a wedding venue. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect experience.

We had our wedding at the Wyndgate Country Club in fall 2012! Before even visiting the Wyndgate (beautiful venue by the way), we knew the Wyndgate was where we wanted to have our wedding! Olivia Thomas, the Event Coordinator, emailed me and just based on that, we knew Olivia was the perfect choice for us! Olivia took us on a scheduled tour, discussed options and provided ZERO pressure in choosing our location! Obviously the Country Club has a lot to offer and is gorgeous during all four seasons, but Olivia made us feel confident that she would get to work for us and make our day PERFECT! And she exceeded our expectations! During our entire planning process, Olivia was there to help make decisions on food, layout and decoration options,and even assisted with providing photos of her own wedding for ideas! She also encouraged us to visit the Wyndgate during the year to get an idea of layouts and linen choices(by looking at other weddings going on!) We had no worries coming into the wedding day and especially NOT on the wedding day! Olivia was there for us every minute, for every detail! She is definitely a great wedding planner and has passion for what she does! During the wedding, she handled every detail from making sure the bridal party was taken care of at all times, directed our guests to our ceremony and reception sites, and helped our vendors (i.e.
photographer, DJ, Harpist, Cake, Florist)set up and get to where they needed to be, seamlessly! You would have thought she planned the entire day for us (and that she did!). So many compliments still arise from our special day for both Olivia and the entire staff at the Wyndgate talk about five star service! Wow! The food was absolutely amazing and the Chef (Nate) made great recommendations during our tasting! We did luck out, but as Olivia first said Fall of 2011 when we reserved our date, your day will be sunny and 72 degrees she was spot on! The
Wyndgate has such a gorgeous background for a wedding ceremony if you are looking to be wed outside of your church! We also were able to have our cocktail hour on the beautiful back porch, overlooking the green and picture perfect golf course! For any other events or special occasions we may be having in our future, Olivia and The Wyndgate will be whom we call FIRST! Thank you for the most perfect wedding day! Great service. A very challenging course, even from the white tees. The greens were incredibly fast and there were several 3 putts in the group. From the valet to the locker room to the carts to the driving range, the service was top notch...top notch!!!

We had our wedding at The Wyndgate Country Club in September of 2011. Our wedding was handled very professionally, and both my husband and I would recommend The Wyndgate for your wedding! From the first day we toured the facilities, we absolutely fell in love! We knew that this was the place we had to have our wedding. The grounds are absolutely stunning to view and have pictures taken. If you are looking to have the ceremony on site, this is the place to have your wedding. The outdoor ceremony site was exquisite compared to any other facility we visited. The atmosphere at The Wyndgate is not only beautiful, but has such romance in the air. It was so nice to know that the coordinator, Olivia was so organized. She even helped make our dinner menus! Olivia was such a personal, devoted coordinator who treats every wedding as the event of the year. Our dinner and desserts were the best food I have had at a wedding in a long time! Every moment of working with the staff at The Wyndgate was such a wonderful experience. Words cannot express the gratitude I have for everyone at The Wyndgate. They truly made my wedding a day I will never forget and will cherish forever!
