Booked a table a month ago for when lockdown is lifted. Get a call only today to say they re not opening until May. Why s it taken this long for them to cancel my booking, no apology I had to phone them to find out why they cancelled it. How am I supposed to get a table elsewhere for the same date now? Cheers won t be dining here that s for sure with that unorganised mess.

I ve come here a few times for special events. The food and service has always been fantastic and I ve thoroughly enjoyed every plate. It s a family run restaurant who really cares about the standards they offer to their customers. Definitely recommend a visit if you re nearby. It s busy every night so you will have to book perhaps a week or two in advance.

Almost perfect. Mg visit here brings my 67th Michelin star and 1303 review on trip advisor
Lovely restaurant, currently lots of scaffolding outside.
When we arrived we were show directly to our table and given the menus. Shortly afterwards the amuse Bouche were bought out, a profiterole type pastry with cheese inside and a mountain of shaved cheese on the top. I explained I don't each cheese which the waitress responded with "then the lady can have two" not exactly what I would expect as a response in a Michelin starred restaurant! They usually manage to bring something else. This time the second amuse bouche was left on the table until the mains were cleared.
Starters were nice although my oxtail starter needed a bit more meat. My partner loved hers.
Main was a beautifully cooked duck my partners a lamb dish equally delicious. I must confess I was slightly perplexed by a duck dish with an added "hot dog", which wasn't the most exciting chipolata sausage inside a dense bun.
Dessert was a lovely dish entitled Milk look on the menu for ingredients.
Overall a nice meal with the two oddities if the amuse bouche failure and the weird hot dog.
Toilets clean if somewhat minuscule, that's more about the practicalities of the very old building.
Would I do another 110 mile round trip to return? Sadly not missing that Michelin service spark.
