I used to work here: as far as the organization itself I couldnt speak better of it. They treat the clients well and with respect, take care of them and keep them active, independent and happy.
However I dont believe they treat their employees appropriately. They're one of the lowest paying companies in the industry, the insurance they offer leaves a lot to be desired, and their mode of consequences for mistakes is entirely unfair. For example: if you're forced to call off work without a sick day (keep in mind I had a doctor's note as proof) they will give you a 5 day suspension without pay for it. I feel like there are much better ways to handle that. So if you're considering working here I suggest going around and talking to current employees first to see if the environment had changed for the better

Leaving your child in the care of another is heart...

Leaving your child in the care of another is heartbreaking but is reality for us. His needs are too great for us to be able to keep him safe 24/7. He has lived there for 1.5 years now. The Verland Foundation administration is incredibly compassionate and responsive to our wishes. We have other children and visit weekly. We can go to the barn to see goats, horses, donkeys and a rabbit. The complex is beautiful to walk around as well. They are working to install a playground and are renovating the pool. Onsite nursing and doctor visits and genuine love by the staff toward my son make me feel he is in excellent hands.

One of, if not the best non profit places that takes care of individuals with developmental disabilities. The people here are too kind and make the world a little better each day. Also open 24 hours.
