Cute bakery with a full breakfast and lunch menu. Lots of tables up front, a full spread of delicious looking bread made in house, and a case full of deli sandwiches, quiche, pies and pastries. Order at the counter and they'll give you a number. I had the margherita sandwich with chips. Nice sandwich, the bread is really good.

A bit dimly lit, but they had quite a sizeable selection of different loaves for purchase, with a complementary loaf slicing option. Lots of sandwich and other food/drink options as well. The challa looks more like a rye loaf at first glance, but it's fluffy and soft and absolutely delicious.

Hadn't been to Turtle Bread in over a year and I was craving your incredibly scrumptious Chocolate Chip Cookies! I made a special trip over to South Minneapolis and immediately noticed they did not resemble the cookies I used to get. They were pale in color with a scant smattering of chips. The flavor was pure sugar instead of the rich buttery taste, and the crispy, yet soft texture was missing. So disappointing. I understand the pandemic has affected the eating establishments, but I really did expect the delicious cookies I used to buy there. At $11.99 a bag I would rather have had fewer of your good cookies in the bag, than the lesser quality. Sadly, I won't be back any time soon, at least not for the CCCookies. To be fair, the bread is second to none!

Their ginormous apple danish is my favorite treat to get here(!), but this time I also picked out a apple turnover too. Both were absolutely delicious and had lots of apple slices/chunks in them. Very clean and neat store. The only critique I d have is I wish they always had labels for every baked good that is set out in the area where they put the cookies and sweet rolls etc. Often times (like the most recent time I visited) it s kind of a mystery or there s no label at all for most items that I can see. It s just a quick convenience thing though. Looking forward to trying their quiche another time too!

Bought a chocolate cream pie and it was delectable. Honestly one of the best pies I've had. It was very large and the chocolate mousse was firm and rich. The crust was perfect and their whipped cream topping was incredible. I have zero complaints about that pie and will be purchasing more for special occasions in the future. Worth every penny.

The soup and bread are great foods worth the trip. However, you can find better hot entrees in the neighborhood. There's a wide selection of baked sugar treats, but they aren't the best you've ever had. I feel like this place could easily go above the norm, but just isn't quite there yet
