My children and I have had some of our best memories together volunteering at The Samaritan Inn. The staff creates an outstanding environment, which we thoroughly enjoyed being part of. The residents are a pleasure to connect with.

It really depends on who you're are dealing with. Some of the staff is caring. Some of the younger females are just here for a check. Very hard to get in and easy to get exited as they call it. The food s mostly awful serve same thing for lunch and dinner..but it's free. Just get in and get out asap. My advice oh and pray you don't get a crazy room mate that has already run 2 roomies off.. the best thing is it is a bed at night. Dont expect much more they're not gona help you so know that coming in

Overall good program that helps u live here for free while u fine s job to save, pay any bills and get sustainability again. Many staff members are sweet and sincere like the Chef, Coco, the counselor and all but maybe three staff members really even really care the others seem like they can t wait go home and always seem like we re bothering them when we ask questions or for help. I ve seen one particular am young ic staff member yell at people roll eyes and seem so disgusted and irrated with adults and kids even if they ve done nothing wrong. But the ones who do care makes ur stay meaningful. When u come u catch on quick if u watch with open eyes I stay mostly to myself and a few others most here mosey, gossip, and some do dark demonic things but thank God for the blood of Jesus covering over me and my child and u really don t get much help aside from basic necessities and clothing. Need help with gas, funds to interviews, or resources to help with that you re on you re on completely. Get your months classes complete save and get outta here

Everyone was very nice, the facility looks amazing, and they do a lot of good. While we were applying my daughter was offered coloring books and toys, the staff made sure we were all fed..
However, I was told I d be receiving a call back to let me know if my kids and I would be accepted. I was supposed to get a call Wednesday afternoon... it s Friday. I ve called three times and still gotten no response. It might not seem like a big issue, but when you have two kids and no where to stay, it s a big issue. I ll assume we didn t make the cut, but they need to follow up when they say so people aren t left hanging and can plan accordingly.

Disingenuous. While their strict policies are admirable it s also controlling and conditional. I understand they don t want people to use them or abuse the program but according to 211 there are only three homeless shelters in the denton county in Plano Texas. I only qualify for one. I am not battered nor do I have children. I called asking if they would provide emergency shelter in the case of tornado, they told me no. I clarified to say that I was not interested in using resources or taking away from them as I am not registered in their program. They told me they are only offering long term solutions. Once again very admirable and if I was to apply for the interview I would pass as I have a clean record. But I am not interested in being controlled in exchange for shelter in fact that is a very triggering exchange some people had to go through one that I myself was escaping from. I asked them very plainly would they open their doors for me in the case a tornado touched the ground they told me no. That seems unusually cruel for an organization under the guise of helping people to do. I was only looking for shelter until the storm subsided and then leave. They are perfectly fine with turning people away in the case of a tornado that is insane to me.

Glad its a roof over heads and hot cooked meals.. Some women employees would rather focus on what you are wearing more than providing what is needed. Alot of canceled meetings with caseworkers and lies while causing the homeless persons living situation to be rocky. We hope The Samaritan Inn employees would work harder on treating others how they would want to be treated, especially those that get paid for helping with the children.
