We visited at the weekend and this pub was very quiet and a great atmosphere.
I had the fish and chips and it was great!
The fish very fresh and batter was crispy and not doggy at all!
The chips were sooo chunky they were more like potatoes and I needed to add loads of vinegar to reach the middle.

Wear smart casual to this pub. Lots of tables to enjoy a meal at. A bit more upperclass than the pub in the village. Food are tasty and reasonably priced. Reservations may be required during the busy times. For more info and contact details see their web site.

Christmas lunch an absolute delight. My party contained 2 people who are habitual complainers. They can always cook or provide better, but found nothing to complain about, except that there was too much food!

Dissapponting food. First of all it came too quickly. When food comes too quickly it's not a good sign. Sunday roast was not what we expected from the reviews we have read. Potatoes were either from frozen or kept too long in the water before roasting. Soggy and no taste whatsoever. Tasteless gravy. Meat not too bad but a bit overcooked.

Very nice staff though.
Relaxing atmosphere.

We might be back to give it another chance.

Dreadful owner who treated everyone rudely and disrespectfully. Can t even believe someone running a restaurant could be so sour. The food was bland and the potatoes were so dry and tasteless. Bathroom door was difficult to open from the bathroom side. Watched three people struggle to open a heavy door with a tiny metal knob up top. Also dangerous to have the door right next to the sink & hand dryer. See photo.

It was hot inside and honestly we wished we didn t stop there. Not much good to say except the waitresses were nice.

We came here last Thursday for dinner with my partners mother. We received great service even though we were seated in the garden (upon our own request) and our waitress was very attentive. The food was delicious and the portions are huge! I had to take half of mine home, which provided lunch the next day. The waiting time to be served and for food to arrive is sheer non-existent. Also really pleased to say that the facilities are spotless and there are plenty of Covid measure in place, such as hand sanitiser at the entrance, a track and trace and one way system throughout. Just noticed that the Royal Sun is part of the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme and secretly planning our next visit!

Excellent Sunday dinner. We both chose a 3 meat roast and everything was delicious and hot. Very warm welcome and the service was friendly and efficient. Definitely a return visit to be planned and will be recommending highly to others. Many thanks to those that work here.

Very helpful and friendly barman. The location is good for transport. My minor quibble is the food menu - there is a lack of vegetarian options. The veggie burger was ok, and there is a veggie Wellington but I'd like to see some more inventive / other options.
