The Protea Hotel Balalaika Sandton Review

What an awesome place...venue is great for a small intermit function.

Great looking hotel from the outside but the rooms are a bit dull. They are not as luxurious the reception area. The guys who help with luggage and the ones responsible for the shuttle are very friendly.

One night stay, situated in Melrose Arch (UpTown) so very central in Jozi... Service is good and all are kind

Rooms were comfortable and big! Staff amazing, food was ample and very tasty. Staff went out of their way to help and very friendly. I will be back. Thank you Natalie (GM) and team nothing was to much trouble to sort out

We enjoyed our stay because we had a upgrade. Old hotel...needs interior upgrade of rooms

Very smart. Attended a seminar there. The place was neat. Unfortunately I can't comment on the rooms etc. Didn't like all the cars jammed up almost inside the entrance.

It's extremely easy to get lost and not be able to find your room. Why does one have to go through this? Parking is horrible. Everything else is fine. Nothing special.

Good hotel in Sandton SA with a courtesy van to Mandela Squire

Great location next door to new shopping center and opposite stock exchange. Beds are comfy and the shower is good. Not many (functioning) power outlets in the room. Hotel is well maintained but its not modern. Hotel food is OK and room service is quite slow. There are two pools, gym is closed and you can now use the new one in the, corrected, shopping mall (via voucher from reception)

Very friendly staff but the hotel is old and extremely dated. In a lot of rooms the heat is not working. Bathrooms are cold and have no heat. At the moment of writing half of the hotel has no running water. It should have been tore down together with old mall next door (nowadays the brandnew The Marc mall)

Good location attached to the mall, great service and hospitality, the property seems very old still well maintained. The internet connection is very poor. Provides shuttle service every 30 mins to the Mandela square
