One of the best photo processing houses in New York! A hidden, underground spot in Chelsea that knows how to take care of you. From developing your film to scanning, retouching, and printing images, they've got you covered! Not only is the staff friendly, knowledgeable, and good at what they do, but they'll make sure you're happy with the results from start to finish. If you're in Chelsea, make sure to check this place out!

I had been looking for a new processing lab. I have tried half a dozen or so different places in Manhattan and Brooklyn but I never really enjoyed the experience at all. Finally about five months ago I happened to stumble upon the picture house after a quick google search. 75+ rolls or something like that later of 120 and 35mm, black and white, color, and expired film, it has become my favorite place to bring my film in New York City, Someone else said it and I fully agree, this place is an absolute gem. The customer service is beyond expectation. All the negatives and prints have been returned absolutely beautiful to me, beautifully handled, and beautifully convenient.

Best lab in the city! I ve never had an issue with them and they are always friendly, quick, knowledgeable and reliable. They could easily get away with charging more but their prices are comparable to most other labs in the city. My go to lab when I m in NYC!

I'd been struggling to find a good B/W film lab for my 120 film, and then I stumbled onto the Small Darkroom. These guys are fantastic! I absolutely love the quality and the consistency of their processing, far superior to the bigger labs I've used in the past. Even their contact sheets are consistently well made, and one of my favorite features is that they will include any information you need straight onto contact sheet such as job names, dates, number of rolls, etc. Elizabeth at the front desk is incredibly helpful. I've been at it for 35 years, but I continue to learn so much from her, and I get excellent advice about pushing and pulling and so much more. I know I'm going on but I can't say enough about the Small Darkroom. And I even have my own darkroom! But I only trust them to work with my film.

Great service, great prices, great results! I've used this lab for my past ~20 rolls of film, and the results couldn't be better. They're fast, their processing is top notch, and the scans are gorgeous. Not to mention, they charge less than the last lab I used!
