If you can't stay in town stay here. Free gondola to town. Takes 10 mins. Spa amazing. Steam room, sauna and indoor outdoor pool. Only downside is price.
The hotel was overpriced for what I feel we got. Everything was clean, but the rooms were not airconditioned and we got really hot. The rooms were clean and beautifully decorated, but beds were a bit uncomfortable, we both woke up with some back pain. The pool also closed at 7pm which is way to early in my opinion. We would get back to the hotel around 6, have dinner and the pool would already be closed. The bars cocktails were horrible at both the resgurant and pool bar, stick to beer and wine. No room service either. Which after paying $529 a night, is crazy.
(Review of Altezza @ The Peaks) Awesome waitress and best happy hour from 2 - 7. Wings and artichoke dip were very good. Great prices for Telluride and the views are spectacular.
The Peaks has everything you need for a great stay. Ski in ski out, ski valet, spa, pool, hot tubs, a great restaurant and beautiful views. If you are looking into a suite, room 646 had one of the most gorgeous views in all of Mountain Village. We were not happy with our first room, but Lauren made some adjustments and got us the perfect suite! My only recommendation, there needs to be a shuttle to take beginners to the ski school location. We had to walk over a half a mile in ski boots while carrying our skis. For first timers, this already put us at a disadvantage before even learning.
Rooms are wonderful and have a great view. Everything from the pool and hot tub to the hotel bar are clean and nice. The staff are very kind as well. The hotel layout is very open and makes for an elegant atmosphere.
It's a solid option in an otherwise very expensive town. Food is also good and the spa is great.
Fairly heavy concentration of Texas tourists here, again, just stating a fact without value judgment.
Stayed for 2 nights and when we checked out the cost more than doubled over the price we booked due to mandatory paid parking, taxes, and a previously undisclosed "resort fee". I have never experienced that at another hotel. The views are great, but they're great anywhere in Telluride. The room wasn't anything special and lacked air conditioning. Service was excellent, but the surprise extra costs made it a negative experience. We will not go back.
Wonderful location. Our rum was substandard. The shower enclosure was broken and I cut my finger trying to fix it. This problem should have been fixed before, as it was not a new issue I'm my opinion. Other than that, it's Telluride, so not much to complain about.
It needs updating, the room carpet is old and stained. The balcony needs to be replaced...it appears that rubber floor mats placed on balcony floor is to hide the rust. Exterior needs painting. For $500 a night I would expect Ritz quality condition. The scenery is the best for a ski location in CO. I am tempted to come back for ski season...it must be awesome! If I do, I will fly from Denver next time instead of driving.
Don't go off the Google reviews! I don't even know where to start. This place was one disappointment after another. Upon arriving, I was told that our room wouldn't not be ready until 4pm (we arrived at 3:30pm) - however the front desk clerk said, "We GUARANTEE that your room will be ready at 4pm." At 4:02pm, I asked if our room was ready and she no. That should have been my indication as to how the rest of this stay would go. I saw that it did look like a room was ready and I asked about that room and she said that even though it was the same type of room the guests checking in for that room went to dinner...so there was a room ready and we couldn't have that room even though we were physically at the hotel and it was past the check-in time...and the guests they were giving it to weren't even there. Secondly, there is no A/C! Wish I would've known that before because it was sweltering. I asked for a fan and they said there weren't anymore and that I should, "leave the patio door AND the front door open at night for a breeze." Leave the front door open while I sleep...WHAT?! I didn't even know what to say to that. Thirdly, the pool closes at 7pm. It's barely even dark by 7pm...I've never heard of a pool closing that early. Next, the TV is a streaming TV, although, they aren't set up to stream and apparently no one knew how to set them up. Also, I asked to speak to a manager multiple times and the response was always, "There is not manager here," or, "I think I am the manager." Absolutely mind-blowing. The shower was a joke and there was mold everywhere in the bathroom, as well as hair. I'm not sure I've had a worse experience.
Rooms are hot, but the hotel is very kid friendly and the waterslide will keep the kids entertained for a while. The views are incredicble. The breakfast is good, but it doesn't open until 8:00AM.
This place is awesome. Be sure to ask for a corner room - they're bigger. Ski in/ski out is really convenient.
This place is excellent. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable, the ski shop features direct access to the slopes, and the restaurants are all superb.
Great pool, awesome service food is great and head chef Dave came out to check on us which was awesome! He even bought us some fresh fruit!
We love the Peaks. We wanted an early arrival so we could put our things in the room before we skied. It needed to be inspected so we weren t going to be able to get in early. Jaclyn Eman overheard the conversation and took us to the room so that we could get in. She has given us great service whenever we are there. Chamas team of car valets and Thomas s team of ski valets are great too.
NO AC in the entire hotel. This is not advertised anywhere. If your room faces the morning sun, you will wake up early because the sun makes the room too hot. You will probably wake up early anyway because of the screaming children in the hallway and everywhere around the hotel, the fact you can hear the people in the hotel room next to you, or the housekeeper knocking on your door at 8 am even though you have a Do Not Disturb sign on. Also, the mattress was actually uneven so you had to pick one side to sleep on.
Horrible service at the Altezza restaurant. I waited for two hours, no one served me so I just went to the bar myself. Other couples and families sat down who got served right away and I was completely ignored. The hotel apologized but then it happened again the last night. Apparently the waitress had a personal problem and had to go home, but no one told me or came by.
It s been a long time where I ve picked a vacation spot that I actually couldn t wait to leave. I will never be back. Don t waste your time or money, it is horribly overpriced for what you get. Do not come here if you want to relax.
Most services were unavailable during the pandemic, yet the prices were still very high. Restaurant was ok. Definitely not worth the money we paid.
Very relaxing resort with some of the prettiest views in Telluride. The spa is spectacular, especially the peaceful rock-floor Roman Bath. Service was welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. Great location just a short walk from gondola and very close to restaurants and shops. Beautiful place for a vacation.
New ownership, I m giving them a 5 based on service and location. All of the beds were being replaced by the new owners while I was doing business during this last closing for some remodeling. with the best views in North America, I m going to have to give them 5 stars
Had a wonderful experience! The staff were friendly and kind during my stay. The views were phenomenal and rooms made it feel like you were living in a cabin! Definitely recommend this place for a family mountain getaway, can only imagine its even better in the winter!
Literally the most popular place to stay in Telluride as well as the largest. Lots of amenities and things to do besides skiing.
Food was good, view spectacular, but the staff was very inexperienced, service slow and clumsy.
This is a beautiful resort! The service was not as good as I remembered it though.
Seemed like everyone wasnt on the same page with whatever their Covid Policy is but it was very nice resort.
Love The Peaks. Staff is awesome. Spa is awesome. Exercise rooms and equipment are awesome.
The rooms were adequate but the customer service is where it's at! Alberto, who bartends, really brings his A game with every encounter!! The management also works hard to ensure that every need is met. Love the staff here!
Love this hotel, excellent location and views. Service is great, we always enjoying our stay here.
Beautiful hotel, easy check-in, helpful staff when it comes to using their app and knowledge about where to go in town. Valet was super speedy.
This resort was very nice. The people were great. The room was very nice and super comfortable beds. The kids loved the pool and especially the slide.
The best service, drinks and food that I have experienced in Colorado.
No A/C room was close to 90 degrees when we arrived at 10pm
Stayed here during the fall season. Got a great view. Parking is valet only. No room service for food/drinks. Other than that, the service was quick and responsive. Reasonable price, clean and big rooms and not too far from the gondola.
Met friends there for a day of skiing. Phenomenal facilities and service.
Fantastic Views of the Mountains but extremely pricey.
Fantastic service, accommodations, and location! Highly recommended!
My family and I have been coming to The Peaks for several years now. They remember us by name and even the car we drive up! Wonderful staff, very courteous and well-spoken. One of a handful of true ski-in and ski-out resorts in mountain village. Don't forget about the heated pool out back ;)
Although the hotel is very nice. A lot of the reviews fail to mention that the rooms do not have AC. I understand this is the mountain area, but even with the windows open at night, it was extremely hot in our room.
I stayed here last weekend for a wedding. The resort was beautiful- great views.
However, despite the views, I highly recommend that you think twice before you book this hotel. Here's why:
I accidentally left my iPad and a pair of jeans in the bathroom of our hotel room after checking out. An hour after check out I remembered and immediately called the hotel. The front desk said she would send an email to housekeeping and give us a call back. 5 hours later we had not heard back from anyone. We called again. Again they said they would check with housekeeping and get back to us. 4 hours later we called AGAIN and after being transferred a few times, a man came back and said "Sorry, they didn't find it, I will have a manager call you tomorrow".
Mind you- this was not something we "thought" we left. We both very vividly remember seeing the items in the bathroom.
After not hearing from anyone the next day, we called for the fourth time and asked for a manager. We got the managers voicemail and left a message. After no call, we called AGAIN that afternoon and finally got a manager, Karen, on the phone. She said she would personally go look for the iPad and promised she would give us a call back. It has now been 5 days and we have not heard from anyone and I am livid.
I am a business owner so I know what a bad yelp review can do for a business so I wanted to give them a chance to at least get back to us before I wrote a bad review. However, after giving them so many opportunities to make things right, I decided the public should know just how AWFUL their customer service is.
Yes, I am upset about my iPad- If you stay here- beware of housekeeping. They are dishonest and management obviously doesn't hold them accountable.
However, I am much more upset about the way management has handled this situation. We just wanted to know that they were doing everything they could to get our iPad back, I am still shocked that such a "nice" hotel has not even bothered to follow up with us after so many phone calls. This is a 4 star hotel with the worst customer service I have ever experienced.
Between the room for two nights, all the added "resort fees" and mandatory valet (no self parking available), 2 meals and drinks, we spent over $1000 for two nights.
Do yourself a favor and give your money to a different hotel in Telluride. There are places with great views that will be honest and appreciate their customers.
Overall our stay was very nice. Staff was exceptional, including Evelyn and Jessica who were able to relocate us due to some excessive elevator noise radiating into our original room. The restaurant off the lobby was a great spot for lunch with a view. The staff at the valet and ski/boot lockers were prompt and polite. I did notice some entitlement from the residents who own unit in the building, but that s on them. We would certainly stay here again next time we re in town.
The Peaks is set in a beautiful location! The views are amazing!! The price was a bit high for the off season and during COVID with a lot of the mountain village shut down.
State-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities with an amazing view!
We ve stayed at the Peaks half a dozen times over the last nine years. In the past, every single stay was beautiful, clean, felt luxurious, and exceeded our expectations. This year was a major disappointment. It s been two years since our last trip to Telluride, and the hotel has aged poorly. Stucco was missing in a few chunks on the outside of the building. Carpets in the room were old and in need of replacement. Baseboards and bed frames had big gashes in them which I can understand toward the end of ski season but this is September. It seems like nothing was repaired after the ski season. Perhaps we ve been lucky in the past, but every room has always had robes and slippers. This time, we had none. I always enjoyed the plush robes. We really missed the nice touch.
The worst, and most offending part of our room was the bathroom. Chipped sinks, moldy caulking, filthy shower doors and tile that looks to be 25 years old. I was shocked how desperately it needed remodeling.
I ve recommended this hotel to everyone. It s the Peaks! It s gorgeous! Best views! But now? I could not and would not recommend the Peaks to anyone.
I did not stay at the Peaks, but I booked it for my wedding before the pandemic broke out. We toured the venue and did a tasting with Robyn and both were absolutely wonderful, the terrace view is incredible and we were so excited to watch the sun set as we danced with our guests in the crystal room. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic we were forced to postpone and ultimately decided to do a very small ceremony on our original date while the venue was still shut down. Robyn and the Peaks were incredibly kind, gracious, and accommodating. While I was heartbroken not to get to have the wedding we had planned, the Peaks has earned a customer for life because of the way they handled the situation. We hope to renew our vows there some day in the future!
I stayed there in August 2016, and it wasn't that great. If there is a better place in the actual town of Telluride, then I would stay there next time. I felt that the service I received at this hotel for what I paid per night was subpar.
The host Ian sat me in a section with the best view of the sunset. And even though he wasn't my server, Ian spent time with me explaining the menu and made suggestions based on my dietary needs. Alberto also came by twice to personally check in on me and made me feel welcomed. And the bartender Jordan made sure my water was always filled up. I can't wait to come back this summer and stay at this place. The service was amazing and the food/dessert was delicious
The Peaks is a great place that could use a little more discipline. I've stayed there a couple times during a ski vacation. It certainly has the panache of a 5-star hotel, but the employees are not trained like Ritz-Carlton and therefore lack some the finer points of hospitality. The lack of attention to all the details from the employees is evident in all the public areas: restaurant, check-in, spa, ski valet, and sports-shop rentals (not technically a business arm of the hotel though). The employees are all very nice, but it is obvious they don't think past the requirements of their own jobs; they don't take the extra step to hand the customers off to the right places when they don't know or can't help. Once, we ordered room service and didn't realize that we'd have to go pick it up until they called us to come and get it from the restaurant. Equipment, plumbing, and fixtures all seemed to be in good working order in the public and private spaces I visited or stayed in. I really appreciated that they had self-serve water or other beverages readily available almost anywhere I was. Kudos for also putting air humidifiers in the rooms! It ended up being a boon to getting a better nights' rest. The Keurig single serve machine in the room had lots of good options for coffee and hot cocoa; thanks to house keeping for keeping that well stocked with all the good flavors. Housekeeping overall did a great job. The spa, fitness room, group exercise, and pool areas are amazing and fun; there is an indoor waterslide. They have a large and well appointed men's locker room with another sauna, steam room, and hot tub for those of us 16 and older. I believe the women's area is of similar accommodations. I also really liked that it is a ski-in ski-out resort.
My only complaint, which I didn't complain about, but in hind sight I wish I would have mentioned before I left: The room doors slam shut. I think the hotel kept all of us skiers on the same floors, so every morning it was slamming and ski-boots hulking down the hallway. You can pretty easily hear that noise and conversations from the bed of the room we were in (not too far from the elevators). I hope they can get some padding on those door frames to soften the sound the doors make when they're allowed to shut on their own. Otherwise, it was mostly a very quiet room.
I really want to give the Peaks 5 stars because it really is that caliber of hotel and resort. However, since there is visibly pealing paint on the exterior and too many of the employees are just nice, I must wait until they can be a little better and maintain a higher standard.
Wonderful place with all of the amenities you would expect from a high class resort. We had the best time and will definitely be back!
Loved it spent the weekend and it was awesome !! Ski IN and OUT !
Enjoyed the hotel.beautiful view,great weather,free gondola,nice holes,good help.
Wonderful place with so much potential. Elevator should say Lobby instead of first floor.
Attended a conference at the peaks and it was a great facility.
It is a great hotel. A tad bit pricey but the staff is super friendly and everything was clean.
Good value, nice amenities, comfortable accommodations. Always feel welcome!
Stayed Memorial Day Weekend 2013. 2 out of 3 elevators NOT working. Several electrical outlets in room not working. Booked 'Sunset Vista' room, but couldn't see the sunset. Fire Alarms went off Sunday morning at 7am, Sunday night at 11:30pm, and Monday morning at 6:30am and 7:30am. Felt bad for guests of the Wedding that was hosted there Sunday night. Was looking forward to this stay but left disappointed.
The peaks was great. I could go on and on but everyone already knows the benefits of a resort. The only thing they need to change is staff organizing. There s a nice girl in the gift shop that belongs in the spa especially with her experience, and she s pretty and welcoming. On the other hand there s some staff in the spa(girl in glasses) that would be better off in the laundry or the dish area. Never once was polite or welcoming. Only asked if we signed a waiver, everyday. Also there s a guy from Mexico City who s a server who belongs in the spa as well. He s very nice and bright. He s very flamboyant, perfect for the spa. Some servers are great but there s one in particular that should look for a new job. I ve had better service in a sizzler! The front desk manager was outstanding. He must really like his job. He s great. The others were good too. Other than reorganizing the staff the place is nice. I will return in a few months. Wish them the best. Remember girl in the gift is like a shiny star in a black box who needs someone to open it. The flow of energies will be way better and people will spend much more money when that is dealt with.
Met a friend here for lunch. It was really good. I will definitely dine here again. Oh, the views are outstanding!
Our room was very noisy - late reveler noise from the lobby in the evening - vehicles backing up in the morning. Spa was very disappointing - masseuse did not listen to my requests. One morning no hot water for our shower. One day no maid service - two days no garbage can emptying - not a very well run facility. Very disappointed.
We really wanted to like this place. The views were incredible, and it was within walking distance to the gondola, but that s where it ends. We stayed in room 427 and there was a pretty decent amount of mold in the grout and ceiling of the shower. Probably due to the fact that the exhaust fan didn t work. Also when we got there to check in they informed us that we would have a $25/day resort fee and $24/day Valet fee that we were not aware of at the time of booking. Pretty crappy to charge so much for a resort fee then put us in a room with a moldy shower. The rooms were extremely warm due to no A/C even though it was pretty cool outside at night. It also would have been nice to have a microwave in the room for that kind of price. The spa closes at 8pm, including the pool and hot tubs. A little ridiculous considering most places are open until at least 10pm. We will definitely not book here again. You would be much better off spending your money in one of the surrounding locations, and you d probably certainly get better quality for your money.
This place is pricey, but well worth it if you want a place you can ski right up to the doors.
The restaurant is a little pricey as well, but the food was delicious.
The local town is cool as well.
GREAT amenities: pools, hot tubs, sauna, steam room, gym, yoga, spin, fire places, close to the gondolas, and more! Hard to keep the room cool in the summer due to no AC. Other than that love it!
Pretty good spot to stay! Comfortable beds and conveniently located.
What a view! Located in prime area, great service, clean rooms, affordable. Unforgettable experience! Thank you to Joe the bartender too!
Amazing, beautiful lodge, plenty of amenities, great food, killet breakfast buffet, easy access to slopes, but of course very pricey.
It would have been helpful if they told guess ahead of time that it does not have airconditioning. It was after calling that they have informed guest that there's a fan in the closet and were also told to open the windows. Also, the shower took about an hour before it drained..
The hospitality was second to none! Evelyn went above and beyond to make sure the suite was perfect for when my wife and I arrived. The suite was absolutely spacious, Valet was very courteous, the chefs at the Altezza never missed the mark with our food. The menu accommodates to the many different tastes in food. The views are impossibly beautiful no matter where you look. The Gondola is a five minute walk and those five minutes guarantee some peace from the rest of the tourists in the more crowded hotels at the village.
The hospitality was the best we've experienced to date from a 4 star hotel!! As a bonus, the black and white pictures of Telluride from the early 1900's are an excellent touch!
We highly recommend this hotel when staying at Telluride!
Very beautiful warm place, with friendly helpful staff taking care of you from the time you pull in! Ski or board right from the door, with attentive Valet staff to help with gear, luggage, and any questions about the resort! A very friendly knowledgeable Concierge "Coach Miller" that is just packed with humar and personality! All this and it's affordable too! Do make sure you research a little before commiting in winter. The snow has been a little light the last couple years. Summer is great, not to hot, not to cold, and tons of things to do right at your finger tips... Like concerts constantly, hiking/biking trails galore" for all levels " bird/wildlife watching hot spot, and outstanding clear, cold, mountian river trout fishing! Minutes away from any hearts desire! The Gondola offers FREE transportation from right out the doors to the historic town of Telluride, or to the village market, town hall, and liquor store! Really a Dream spot for most! THANK YOU PEAKS STAFF, YOU DO A TOP NOTCH JOB!
Valet apparently couldn't drive a manual transmission or let off the parking brake. They burned up my parking brake by driving with it on. Apparently the brake light flashing and the heavy loading of the engine didn't give them the slightest clue.
