Over some years, while staying in Ogunquit, my wife and I made a point to see a play at this place. Of all the ones we saw, we were never disappointed. Very professional presentations and affordable.

Absolutely love Ogunquit Playhouse. Are now snowbirds from FL and have Seen ~dozen shows there the past 3 years and they've all been awesome. Last year's Smokey Joe's Cafe's soft opening for its Broadway premiere is indicative of the quality of productions here. However, this production of Murder on the Orient Express was just okay. The set design and lighting was superb. But the characters were over acted, and I was constantly confused if it was supposed to be a comedy or a drama, because it was neither. Kind of like a Saturday Nights Live skit.

Their answering system says they're open from 9am daily. So I called at 9:00, 9:01, 9:02, 9:05, 9:10 and 9:20. "Daily" apparently means something other than every day.

We also weren't able to get tickets online. The website will show that there are tickets available, and in our case, there were plenty of levels still available (preferred, economy, etc.), leading us to think there was plenty of seating left. But there weren't 3 seats together. You can't tell if there are seats together unless you actually click "purchase."

If there aren't seats together, the website tells you to call the box office, which is also supposed to be open right up until showtime. And the box office doesn't answer.

I was left with two disappointed kids. This would have been our first trip to the Playhouse, but now it will be our last. Not being available when you say you will be is terrible customer service.

Oh, and did they answer at 9:30 or 9:40? For a 10am show? Nope. Who runs a business that way? I'm sure any of the theatre offerings in Portsmouth would be more responsive, so we'll just do that from now on.

Nice venue, even though we were halfway up on the left side we still saw everything. Staff were friendly. 4 stars because I paid $2 for a 12oz soda that I wasn't allowed to bring into the auditorium unless I bought one of their "souvenir" cups. Kind of ridiculous. Overall, great show and great venue.

A "must do" for anyone visiting the area. Always a great show! Not a bad seat in the house. Extra bathrooms in trailers outside (they are freezing inside!). Souvenirs, drinks, snacks, and posters of the Playhouse's fascinating history. Parking is divided into northbound and southbound traffic, so exiting is a breeze.

Great

I saw The Hunchback of Notre Dame here on July 30th, 2016. The show was easily of Broadway caliber, with world-class actors and actresses, a well-directed orchestra, and a beautiful venue. They really brought together a beautiful show, and it was even the show's premiere in all of New England!

It is pricey, however well-worth every cent of it, especially for a wonderful and classy date-night out in Southern Maine, by the coast.

I have been there twice. Once in the Summer of 2012 for "Legally Blonde" and again in the summer of 2013 for "Buddy, The Buddy Holly Story". I cannot say enough about the quality of the show's productions and the "small town" feel of the playhouse. We will most certainly be going back for whatever show is playing there this summer and for many summers to come! 10 stars!

Probably the best regional/summer stock theater I've ever been to. Great lineup of shows with talented casts. Professionally run with all the amenities for three theater goer. And plenty of parking too.

I recently saw Grumpy Old Men and what would have been a fabulous show was spoiled by Sally Struthers. She added nothing to the show and was actually distracting! The rest of the cast was absolutely outstanding and a truly enjoyable & funny production. It was so good that I will bring my husband back to see it.

Please do not include Sally Struthers in any more shows!

I have been coming to this area since I was a kid. Now I returned with some of my friends. We really enjoyed seeing 42nd Street here. It was glitzy and simply smashing. I will try to come here more often.

This is summer theater at its best. Stars from Sally Fields to Carson Creskey appear here on a regular basis. You can see original works or revivals as they have a wide range of plays every year. Also this is their 85th anniversary in this charming historic building.

2018: Back again for another season of great plays and as always we weren't disappointed. Everything from the wonderful performances to the incredible stage sets made this a great year to once again visit this venue.

Too much emphasis about race issues. Characters Chuck Berry (Geno Henderson), Rosetta Tharpe (Terita Redd), and Ruth Brown (Berlando Drake) were fantastic! Elvis ( Eddie Clandening) was weak at the beginning but got better as the show went on.. great ending, great energy.

This production of cabaret is inexplicably stunning. It brought laughter and tears and a realization of how dark politics can be for the people. It's a must see. Mariette Hartley stole the Show.

I've seen 2 NYC broadway shows and 4 off-broadway touring company shows, and 42nd Steeet at the Oghonquit ranks #2 among the 7, just after Wicked at the Gershwin. The facility was so charming, the staff were all so kind and professional. The outdoor trailer bathrooms were nicer than most indoor facilities. And 42nd street was phenomenal. Super high energy, incredible cast. We had 3rd row seats all the way on the side (discount seats, obstructed view) but didn't feel like we missed anything important. I hope I can attend a few more shows again here before I die. The cherry on top of our New England family vacation!
