Food was bland and tasteless. You would think a place like that would have amazing food..nope! $38 for a lobster roll and they couldn t even put salt and pepper in the lobster meat? Very disappointed. Beautiful place otherwise but I will never go back.
FANTASTIC amenities and grounds. Great place to get away with family and friends for a week off. Very private location.
We read some bad reviews but we did not feel the same way. This place is magnificent. Pricey but still magnificent. Somebody has to pay for such an elegant place. The "Great Gatsby" returns.
We finally went to the Ocean House for a special dinner event.
The grounds are very nicely appointed and very luxurious.
Hence the 2 stars. The service was acceptable as well.
The food is another story. The salad (if you want to call a few pieces of lettuce and an anchovy a salad... oaky... 18 dollars... ) but worse was the 42 dollar steak questionably at best a "choice cut ." One might ponder that they are paying a supplier (what did that 8 oz piece of low quality product cost them 4 dollars?) I ordered MR -came out RARE but as steak goes it is better to have it rare and reheat it -they were happy to do this for me.
This cut was full of Sinew and my side dish was there for the unchewables.
My jaw is still traumatized.
(At least my dogs were happy with the left over 6 oz.. as we were away for several hours.).
Bummer! I was so hoping for a better outcome.
Make a Reservation and do not miss it. Drinks with spectacular views, dinner at the bistro. Kind and professional staff. Valet parking. No jeans.
Beautiful setting. Was so amazing to catch up with family we have not seen in years. So thankful they shared there time at Ocean House with us.
Came here for a wedding and the place was beautiful. Excellent views of ocean and grounds. Staff was attentive and professional. Close walk to the beautiful beach as well!

Dined here for lunch and it was perfection. Amazing and attentive service and the food is delicious. I had the New England clam chowder and the roasted vegetable sandwich.
Everything was great for the most part. Rooms very nice, views of the ocean fantastic, staff very curious and attentive but...the food was not up to par for the establishment itself or for the high prices that they charge. Three of us ordered lunch and none of liked what we got. All of us said it was bland, we could have made the same thing better ourselves, and that they needed to find a new chef. If you're not going to eat there then you should thoroughly enjoy your stay.
